Kumiko Starter Kit - bit.ly/asanoha-kit
The combination of epoxy and kumiko is something that I’ve never seen before and I knew I needed to try it out. This is my first try at it and I’m blown away with how it turned out. You’ll be seeing more projects like this from me in the future.

A total work of art, extremely well explained. This is a branch of woodworking that I have never explored. I will watch many of your other videos. I am 63 years old with woodwork playing a huge part of my lifes journey. I thank you for the video, All the very best, Yours Ricky
Thanks Ricky! I really appreciate the kind words. If you're thinking about trying kumiko, I offer a kumiko starter kit. Check out my website if you're interested
I am extremely tempted; I am deciding if it’s worth making all of the jigs myself. It adds to the journey into another branch. Its amazing how your patience increases as you get older. What kind of hardwood do you recommend using. basswood is a new one to me. I will look forward to watching many of your other videos. All the very best, Yours Ricky
I'd recommend hard maple for the jigs. That's what I use and it seems to take abuse pretty well. It can be tough to work with but it's worth it. For the actual kumiko, basswood is great but you can also use cedar. Anything on the softer side should work well as long as your tools are sharp
Wow this lamp turned out amazing. You did an amazing job on it too the level of detail is outstanding
It’s a wodd’s cloisonné. Wonderful!
Keeping the diamonds plain to let warm light through was an excellent choice.
Johnny, You are so talented my friend. Loved this project and can't wait to watch some more of your work.
Thanks for sharing.

Ufffffffffff hermoso 👍👍👍
The lamp is amazing! I really liked how you combined warm and cold colors! It struck me that for the joints you make one cut with the circular saw. Would you share what saw disk you use? Thank you in advance!
Thanks! The joints can be cut on the table saw with one cut if you use 1/8" material and a full kerf blade. I use the Forrest Woodworker II blade. I believe it's 40 tooth combo blade
@@JTWoodworks Thanks once again!
Beautiful lantern. Do you have a video of this sled you used?
After using this sled I designed a better one with more adjustability. You can watch that one here ruclips.net/video/1JyUgvOnjHM/видео.html
Great work, as alway. Could you shed a little light on how you designed and built that custom sled?
I built a better version and made a video of it. You can find it on my channel and I also have plans available for it linked in that video description
👍
Thank you
Do you have plans or a tutorial for the sled/jig at 1:45?
I build a better version with more adjustability and I have plans for it on my website. You can watch the video here ruclips.net/video/1JyUgvOnjHM/видео.html
