candy2o 4660 Poison Green is fairly close to an anti-freeze green. You may like making it a bit more yellow-shade by mixing with 4653 Lemon Yellow. Try Poison Green 4:1 Lemon Yellow, and if desired add more Lemon Yellow from there. Thank you.
I just want to thank you for all the great information you give in these videos. Now I don't paint portraits or shirts myself, but I do use these paints and your techniques on my fishing lures. If you are familiar with walleye lures there are a lot of florescent colors for the lures I paint. Now I will try your tricks the get a better metallic look to my baits.. the candy apple red was a big hit for my bass baits. Takes me just a few tries to get it right because my lures have such a small paint area and I need to add colors(mostly black) over them..keep up the great work on these experiments because they are not going unnoticed.. FYI, I am jealous at all the paints you get to work with..lol. I only got small bottles, but they last awhile on just lures..ty again
Hi Chris, great video. Can you help me understand what makes the candy fade in direct sunlight ? Are there any ways to stabilize the Candy for long life or perhaps another candy product you carry ? Thank you, Robert Baltimore, Maryland
candy2o, and all candy colors, are dyes, as are fluorescent colors. While the metal-complex dyes used to makes candy2o are much more lightfast and stable compared to a fluorescent, they are not as lightfast as the exterior-grade pigments used to make Createx paints. Best color life with candy2o will be using 4050 as the carrier as it has sacrificial, light-absorbing protection, and building up colors in multiple coats to full saturation of color. Then , top-coat with a 2k automotive clear in 2 sessions, about 3 - 4 coats each. Thank you.
So when you say the flos and the candys degrade in light does that mean they only look the way you spray them for a limited time in the sun and they won’t last? Is there a way to stop that? Kinda makes me nervous to use them. Could you explain?
candy2o are metal-complex dyes, intended for exterior applications but differ in lightfast durability compared to pigment-based colors. When used in saturated coats, candy2o is excellent for automotive refinishing. Fluorescent, neon colors are also dyes, but more fugitive due to the process of fluorescence. A fluorescent colors is not going to last long if used for automotive refinishing. Fluorescent colors could be used for a helmet, but not a vehicle. All fluorescent colors, water-based solvent-based, acrylic & urethane resin, are fugitive. Thank you.
I truly appreciate the informative presentation that Chris offers. My question for this formula is would the pigments in the florescent pink create a dusty look over a metalflake base? Since it's not a true 100% aniline dye, my assumption is the pigments would build to a certain coverage with increasing passes?
candy2o are metal-complex dyes, much more fade resistant and durable compared to an aniline dye. All fluorescent colors are dyes, while not metal-complex dyes like candy2o, they mix well with candy2o to make a very transparent pink perfect for a transparent mid-coat color applied over a metallic base Thank you.
I like the first sample you done. So how much will a 4 litre off that cost in 2pac. Wish to paint my Mazda 3 in that colour. I see darbys in Ballarat is an supplier of your pain.?
Great Vid Chris...Spraygunner and I are going steady now.....lol.....Hey, I mixed the 2 materials together and It's now in a sealed glass jar.....My questions is, It seems that the Fluorescent Pink is heavier and sits on the bottom quickly....is this Ok? I do intend on mixing before spraying....thanks again...game changing videos...nice job Createx. 🙏 🤪
Phasing is common when paint is stored over a prolonged period, especially when different types of paints (for example candy2o's metal complex dyes and the fluorescent dyes used to make Wicked Fluorescent Colors) are mixed due to the weight (specific gravity) of each pigment and dye type. Thank you.
Another great video Chris! Love the pink on the lighter color's,but your happy accident is amazing. With the four coats inside,it looks like a melon color which I have been looking for. Thank you so much!
We made a similar color to Burple in our Blueberry video. ruclips.net/video/rvN7ATgjxbI/видео.html. Instead of 4:1, try mixing Caribe Blue 2:1 Sunset Magenta to make Burple. Thank you.
Great stuff as always, thank you, Chris. I've been having some issues with my candy coming out clumpy in my airbrush. Seems like I've got my air pressure wrong or I'm doing something wrong with the mixing. I've been using a .5 needle and around 20 psi. Mix my ratios according to your videos, or at least as close as I can with such small amounts. The only thing I can think that I missed was not letting it sit for 10 minutes. In your experience, what makes the candy clumpy? I don't normally stain, but haven't really noticed a problem with that unless the paint is clumpy to begin with and... are there even strainers for an airbrush???
Adjust psi to what works, but with the right 4050 + candy2o color, thinned ~ 20% - 30% 4011 Reducer, the colors should flow and spray well. Strain after mixing with 4050 and reducing. For more, please watch our how-to mix candy2o video, ruclips.net/video/Rz8xjK-5Ebw/видео.html Yes, waiting the 10-minute acclimation period will help, buts that's more nuanced. What you're referring to seems more fundamental; perhaps making sure you mix candy2o + 4050 first, then gradually stir in 4011 Reducer as needed, in small amounts will help. Thank you.
Sean - I have had this same issue and because of this, I mainly use 4030 rather than 4050. 4050 just doesn’t work for me with my iwata .5 needle. I use 4050 with my 1. needle mini spray gun with no issues
Yes, Createx paints are compatible with a wide variety of clear types, including lacquer (i.e. nitrocellulose lacquer clears). For candy2o and automotive paintjobs, a catalyzed (2k) solvent-based urethane clear is recommended. Before the actual paintjob, please make a test panel comparing a lacquer vs. a 2k urethane final top-coat. Thank you.
candy2o can be mixed with other Createx paints, so yes, you could try a 4657 Caribe Blue and W028 Wicked Fluorescent Blue mix similar to the pink demonstrated in this video. Thank you.
