- As George could not attend "A Spectacular Night for Michael Topping" held at the Two Brewers on 9th November 2017, he beamed a get-well-soon message across the English Channel.
So sad to hear that George has passed away. A unique talent.
Thank you, George, for the pleasure you and Patrick have given me. Words cannot express my appreciation. I am a depressive, and you and Dame Hilda are the reason my children still have their father. Thank you.
Rest in peace George, so many happy times listen my Dad and Uncle nearly falling over with laughter , Thank you
So glad 7:00 that he still had it in him. Thank you, George, for playing for our little recital many years ago chez vous. R.I.P.
Fascinating to see this memorable stage character in "civvies", so to speak. A personal message to which a
reminder of his talent is added to remind us of just how good he was in his chosen role on stage. RIP.
Loved these guys as a kid xx together again now 😔💗💗💗💗💗
Their like will not pass our way again. A certain genius for music, singing and entertainment.
Lovely to see him straight! I wish I could have seen him straight when he was younger too! Another person who I greatly admired and appreciated gone, but remembered with warmth! ❤ XXX
He was a very good looking man in his youth from the few photo I’ve seen on him ‘straight.’
Evadne looked pretty good too when she was dressed in her finest.
@@madgemuso7314 Yes, Indeed! Much like Paul O' Grady, good looking no matter what genre. XXX
How lovely that that amazing lovely voice remained till the end. I loved Hinge and Bracket and still miss them.
Hello George
Gosh! How wonderful to know you are still alive. The whole family loved watching Hinge & Bracket in the '70's, I loved your doubleact.
I automatically assumed, because you didn't appear on TV, you must have passed.
Yesterday, I was was reminded of you on one of these Tic-Tok movies. So I searched for you on RUclips, up you popped. It was such a pleasure to watch Hinge and Bracket again.
Thank you, George and Patrick Fyffe, for all the comedy and laughter you provided, both of you were just superb.
I didn't know your other double acts, I will search them out.
I see you still can sing, keep it up.
Take good care. I love ❤ you.
Perry ( London)
Met george at his home in France what a lovey man RIP till we meet again x
God, these two were so funny. As a child of the 70s/80s, it was just entirely natural to see and laugh merrily at two drag comedians simply performing their brilliant act. I knew, even as a child, that they were men pretending to be women, but it was a wonderfully smooth and warm comedy fantasy world that anyone could inhabit no matter who they were, and really wanted to.
There was no kind of statement or didactic meta-message that somehow "challenged" an audience of people who were, let's face it, just trying to survive with dignity.
The vocabulary that pretends to describe this wonderful, innocent - in my case childhood - experience has since been retrofitted in the most ugly way with the most divisive terms by self-appointed lexical retrofitters who are simply incapable of properly appreciating the art and its wonderfully rich and powerful impact on British culture.
I'm not belittling the real suffering of the performers who endured persecution both privately (every day, casually and sometimes violently) and publicly (even worse). At least I hope I'm not. It's just that, to me, the enlightenment that we enjoy today came from the trailblazing greats like Hinge and Bracket who were extending a long, very long tradition, of course.
It did not and does not flow from activist, ignorant, hypocritical or disingenuous politically-obsessed exploitative fakes who sought - and seek - to further their pathetic revolutionary agenda by any means necessary, no matter who gets hurt.
I despise them, I think, as much as I will always love "George and Michael".
Another legend gone. Thank you to you and Patrick for all the laughs. I was too young for the clubs when you and Michael were an act but would love to have seen it. RIP George...
You were magnificent! I loved you.
Wonderful.... Bis..Bis !!!!!! All the pleasure you both brought to me. Dear Ladies on TV was my favourite. 'Tiddley Pom...!'
Rest In Peace dear man
Bless him I remember hinge and bracket as a kid I couldn't believe they were both men wonderful to too see his still alive and well x
Oh come on now 😂😂, you could tell they were a couple of geezers a mile off
@@marksaunders6555 Patrick maybe, but George less so (in my humble opinion anyway) In certain outfits and wigs he looked very convincing. His slight build and delicate pianist hands helped.
Most beautiful touching music sung like an angel touches the soul!
How Bona and what a joy to have been a part of such a wonderful evening for Michael, so many memories x thank you Ola,
This was amazing to listen to!
I've just discovered these two. Legends.
It's so nice to see you George. I watch Hinge and Bracket all the time. You are rarely out of the DVD player here in Santa Monica, CA! xo
Thank you George. Xx
Thanks.. Brings it all back... Happy times. Love ya!🇬🇧👌💋
It’s the first time I’ve seen Dame Evadne as himself. I wish I could show this to my mother as she refused to believe that Hinge and Bracket were really men.
I used to see them both in The Cricketers in Battersea before they were very famous
You blazed my trail George. Hope you read this. Thank you, Kit x
I had the good fortune of going out one weekend in La Dorat (France) where George lives I believe,my partner & I went to the main bar in town and George & his partner had put on a show....it was AMAZING,I had enjoyed watching 'Dear Ladies' on TV as a teenager....it was hilarious!! How strange decades later that I would find myself living 30 mins from La Dorat & coming across my idol 'Dr Evadne Hinge'!!! Even more bizarre that on my 30th Birthday (years before moving to France)....a group of friends 'dragged up' for a dinner party and then caught a taxi to a nightclub (the taxi driver's face was a picture!!).....I was Dr Evadne Hinge!!! Small world....
Great story - Hinge & Bracket will never pass our way again, sadly
What a charming little video. I had the pleasure of seeing H & B at the New Theatre, Cardiff and meeting you both afterwards at the stage door and signed my programme. Thank you for your wonderful talent. All the very best Andrew Bowen
Very interesting to hear.
I never saw this one… Grand !
As entertaining as ever. What a treasure and such a splendid reminder of when Gay Bars were fun rather than just noisy. I remember the cabarets at The Pan Club in Luton c 1972...
A special type of comedy, where the whole world was a target . Dames one and all.
I loved Hinge and Bracket. I have a signed billboard from the Bath Playhouse where they both appeared, framed it hangs on my bathroom wall
signed by the Dr and the Dame and not their real names
I hope people play this to the end as I made a compilation of the out takes we had to remove, There was very little traffic until we began filming, George with his great sense of humour said go on stick them at the end, so I did!
Great chest voice
Dearest, and much loved Hinge & Bracket - and so very much missed ...... and please excuse my ignorance - please tell me what the introductory music is and who is singing it? Is it - as I do so hope - yourself? Thank you, bless you.
Hugs Michael n love bless
Omg George you haven't changed a bit still witty fun and talented .
I just loved hinge and bracket. What a Shame we don't have acts like that today. Two maiden ladies of a certain age, singing and from time to time bickering. What a pity that so ma ny acts from years ago are no longer seen as politically correct. Where has the humour gone?
Yes unfortunately this type of act would probably offend someone waiting for victimhood points.
This country used to be so progressive, what happened ? :(
How great would it be if George did an audiobook autobiography.
He did - in 3 volumes!
I'd pay a year's salary to see that nun act!
'Drag' is part of british culture, just look at pantomime
They don't make Gays like that anymore, Alas.
