Steven: “Walt is a monster for indirectly causing someone’s death, I don’t like him” Also Steven: “Mike had to kill the guy, no big deal, I still love him”
The only time walter was responsible for someone's death similar to mike's situation was MAYBE jane as she wasnt inheritedly a bad person, just an addict. He showed guilt to some level just like mike did, but tried to justify it to himself and others, saying that he did it to protect Jesse. Then, when the planes crashed indirectly due to his actions (which caused the death of HUNDREDS of people) he tried to minimize and trivialize the tragedy. He does it constantly, trying to justify his terrible actions to himself and others. Unlike mike who is real with himself and others kind of to a fault. He fully knows what hes done
The conversation with Kaylee wavers between pain/guilt over Matty's death and loving memories of Matty, but I think the "My dad decided the be a policeman LIKE YOU" is what becomes too much for Mike. Being compared to Matty, who would have held onto his integrity even at the cost of his if Mike hadn't broken him, and being reminded of how Matty used to look up to Mike (and how Kaylee now looks up to him), make Mike feel like a traitor and a fraud for every moral compromise he makes no matter how much he can rationalize them. That makes him ashamed, and the need to hide (and hide from) that shame makes him afraid and desperate, and that fear and desperation make him lash out.
The way things are going on the show, an eventual Jesse appearance would make sense because of the circles he was running in before he and Walt partnered up. I don't know if it's necessary to see Jesse on *Better Call Saul,* but it would not be out of place if he showed up. We haven't seen Skinny Pete and Badger yet, so I wonder if they will appear together, with Jesse. My guess is that IF we are going to see Jesse on this show, it might not be until the final season (6). *And* I also have a strong feeling that IF there is a brief Jesse appearance on the horizon, Aaron Paul probably already filmed his scene(s) quite a while back, much like Robert Forster filmed his *Better Call Saul* scenes while working on *El Camino.* And any other cameos from *Breaking Bad* characters coming up this season -- I suspect that those actors filmed their scenes a couple of years ago as well! Likewise, IF we do see Walter White on the show in Season 6, I think that Bryan Cranston probably already shot his scenes. As long as these BB characters are not the focus of entire multi-episode arcs on BCS, it would have been easy to just shoot random scenes 2 or 3 years ago and bank them for eventual use on BCS. Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould know that time is no one's friend, and everyone looks older now, even though their characters are supposed to be younger than when they were on *Breaking Bad.* With some characters, it doesn't matter to me if they look a bit older on *Better Call Saul,* because they were never supposed to be super-young people on *Breaking Bad* to begin with (Gus, Mike, Hector, Tuco, Juan Bolsa, Don Eladio, etc.). In other words, it's not like they are 60 or 70 years old, trying to play 20-year-olds. So I can suspend disbelief in those specific cases. A lot can be done with light, shadows, black & white vs. color, wide shots vs. close-ups, facial hair, hats, etc., to make the signs of age a little less obvious. Now, Mike's granddaughter's age difference between *Breaking Bad* & *Better Call Saul* is another story entirely, but I'll let that one go because it's a totally different actress playing her now (n fact, 4 different actresses have played that character between BB and BCS), and even the actress playing her mom is different on BCS than the one on BB! lol
Mike yelling at his granddaughter was so hard to watch. Although... I do get it to an extent. Not saying I condone his actions, but he lost his child and he was already showing it was hard on him but when she asked if he taught him that’s what got him because he had said in season 1 he broke his boy. So my first thought was that scene when he yelled at kaylee. He blames himself and her bringing up mike teaching him triggered that blame and guilt. She’s a kid and just wants to know about her dad and has no idea about it so she definitely didn’t deserve to be yelled at. I want nacho to have a good life, but I totally know that won’t happen. I love nacho. Him going into that apartment was such a great, heart racing scene. I can’t wait for next week!!!! 🃏😡📁😰
I’m glad you guys caught how Krazy 8 got his name. A lot of people miss that on their first watch. You guys definitely love this universe and I’m living for it 🃏😡📁😥

Mike's scene with his grand daughter was heavy, the acting is so good by everyone just like in BrBa. Another masterpiece under Gilligan's belt. Always great catching up on your guys' reactions🙌🏼
Part of me was hoping that when they pulled out from their sidewalk parking spot to back on the road, they would have run over an RC car, but perhaps that would have been a little on-the-nose.
The closeup shot of the ice cream cone on the ground at the end of the episode parallels the broken gnome on the ground at the end of the cold open, since both items are pointy. Anyone else make that connection?
@Slender Man I'm not downing Skylar. I think she was very ride or die in a lot of ways, but to me, her cheating is unforgivable. I thought her "We gotta keep her story straight" stuff was a little overkill also. lol
@Slender Man I'm not a hypocritical Skylar hater, but I don't just brush everything Skylar did under the rug. I saw Walter as risking his life to give his family a nest-egg and felt like Skylar cheating on him really undermined Walter's whole concept of his family. Walter would have never been the guy to even consider cheating on his wife. Yes, he attempted to out of revenge, but that's because he felt powerless over the situation. His cringeyness in seduction just shows that the behavior is really unnatural to him which means he's not a guy who fucks around on his wife typically(I will admit this point feels like a stretch a little bit because of my Walt bias, but it's no more stretchy than what you tried to do to justify Skylar's cheating). If you justify Skylar's cheating I can just as easily justify Walter's attempt. The general concept of needing to keep the story straight was a good idea, but the fact that she was going through explicit lines like she could somehow predict the direction of the conversation is what I thought was overkill. I'd say you're the teenager if you think you can predict how a conversation goes line by line. Skylar's ego totally kicked in when she felt powerless to change Walter's drug dealing so she went out and fucked her boss. It also kicked in when she wrote lines for Walter that said he was terribly ashamed of his actions. She selfishly wanted Walter to say some of those things more than she wanted to keep the story straight and Walter rightfully called her on it.
@Slender Man There's no scenario where me as a guy is going to be like: "Oh yeah I guess my wife deserved to fuck another man because I was a dick." Maybe you're into that stuff but I'm not. Skylar had her good moments when she supported her husband and she never betrayed him in terms of ratting on him, but you can't just rationalize every bad thing she does away. So Walter was bad for trying to cheat out of revenge, but does that mean that Skylar WASN'T bad for cheating in the first place? I don't think so.
Gus' way of threatening Nacho into helping him against Lalo was interesting to me. In BB, he has that memorable line to Mike about "I don't believe fear to be an effective motivator." But here he very deliberately uses Nacho's fear for his father's life to motivate him. So either this is just a slight difference in writing the character OR could something eventually go really wrong here that makes Gus, later, stop using fear as a motivator? And of course when he again resorts to using fear as a motivator, it's what eventually causes his death.
How do you know he didn't just say that just as another chess move? He could have been lying for all we know. Perhaps using fear wasn't the best move in that particular situation so he just said that.
You guys should watch True Detective Season 1 -> its one of the best seasons of any show ever...and then you should give a shot to Mr.Robot -> the most underrated show that I know of by FAR!
FEAR The Walking Don He's hurting from killing Werner, that's why he drank a whole bunch the night before he babysat Kaylee. His reaction shouldn't be that surprising but it was still heartbreaking to watch.
FEAR The Walking Don this Mikes also very very different to the one we see earlier in BCS dealing with Price etc. This mike had just killed a man who seemed more like a civilian than someone in the game. He also killed someone he respected and the anger of the engineers , “he was worth 50 of you”, probably reminds him of his son and the way he was when he was a corrupt cop. I think the anger seems pretty understandable to be honest and I think it’s pretty in character. Another addition is the fact that he’s old and hungover, that’ll make anyone’s fuse quite a bit shorter than normal.
I think Saul helping Krazy 8 is the backstory to when Jessie was introducing Walt to Saul and had to told him "My friend got busted and this guy got him out." or something like that. *EDIT* : I was wrong, Jessie was referring to Emilio, Krazy 8's cousin. Credits go to the first replied comment.
he was talking about Emilio, Krazy 8's cousin who got busted in episode 1 when hank and walt arrived at the methlab and later took an acid bath. Though sure I imagine this is how that gang all found out about Saul.
the lawn gnome met the same fate as Gus. 50% off. edit: still always think about how Saul was worried that it was Ignacio when Walt and Jesse brought him out to the desert in Breaking Bad.
I once had jury duty, but have never made it to the trial phase. The last time I made it all the way into the courtroom and even had a "roll call" and even saw the defendant. After that we were let out for lunch, but were told to come back after lunch. After returning we were told that the lawyers came to a deal and that we weren't needed anymore. We didn't even get to know what the guy was in court for.
"You're Slippin Jimmy! People don't change! He'll never change! Alwaaaays has his hand in the cookie jar! Robbing them blind. And HE Gets to be a lawyer!?"
This season is starting off so strong. I love that Jimmy just went all in on being Saul Goodman. That scene in the courthouse with him going from deal to deal seamlessly was great. No one hustles like Saul Goodman. That scene with Nacho sneaking into the drug house was yet another intense stressful scene with him. His character could have just been a throw away but he's one of the most compelling characters on the show. His story has become so interesting and he's genuinely sympathetic. He's just trying to get himself out of this shitty life and he just gets buried deeper and deeper into it. Lalo was right about him though, he is a badass. There's no way Nacho gets out of this alive. Mike really fucked up here. His anger is at a peak because of his guilt and he doesn't know how to deal with it. Going off on his granddaughter like that was a really bad move though.
I just finished watching this episode and I somehow had no idea that was krazy 8 until watching this reaction. I didn't even realize when hearing Lalo call him "ocho loco". how the hell have I been so blind?
There were gnomes in Walt/Heisenberg’s neighbors’ lawn when he returned home to get the reisen I believe. Also the episode when the plane exploded and debris was in Walts pool, I believe there was a gnome there too... I could be wrong tho.
Character actor, Don Harvey. Another channel I subscribe to described him as a guy who has a, "face that you just want to punch" and I thought that summed it up perfectly.
FYI, Crazy Eight is the key character to Breaking Bad story, Crazy Eight will get more screen time in Better Call Saul because he is going to lead to Jesse , because Crazy Eight is the first Drug Dealer that Walt knows from Breaking Bad' Pilot. Also, Remember from Breaking Bad, Crazy Eight will lead to Hank because Crazy Eight was Hank's informant in the Drug Trafficking world.
Suzanne actually appears briefly in El camino. Maybe she will be key in Saul's plan to go back to his old life in Albuquerque once he learns about Walter's demise in uncle Jack's meth lab.
@@NikkiStevenReact Well you know Jesse wasn't the first person he tried to pick up, and there's got to be a first guy who knows a guy, to lead Saul to knowing that Ed exists. Saul has probably referred several clients to replacing the dust filter for their Hoover MaxExtract PressurePro model 60.
Also... if you recall... Hank mentioned in Breaking Bad after Crazy 8 died that he had been an informant for them. My guess is this is the beginning of that

Aaron Montane very soon
*Krazy-8**
As soon as we saw Domingo playing cards, I knew we were about to see him get his nickname.
Lalo's dead eyed stare scares me more than Tuco's ever did. You can see the fifth circle of hell behind those eyes.
I don't know man. It's a contender for sure but Tuco's stare really makes him look like he gives 0 fucks about anything and everything.
I hope i am not spoling anything and correct me if im wrong, but krazy 8 ended up a snitch for thr DEA right?
No you’re right krazy 8 was the snitch
Hilario Yanez Emilio thought it was Jesse who snitched but it turned out it was krazy 8 who informed the DEA leading to the raid in episode 1
Diego I forgot that
Crazy 8 aint loco hes muy stupido....
Nacho kinda reminds me of Jesse. I hope he has a happy ending along with his father.
Now, Mike's granddaughter's age difference between *Breaking Bad* & *Better Call Saul* is another story entirely, but I'll let that one go because it's a totally different actress playing her now (n fact, 4 different actresses have played that character between BB and BCS), and even the actress playing her mom is different on BCS than the one on BB! lol
dude mike's voice cracked a lil bit when he was talking to kaylee, It got me and I knew he was about to break
I appreciate you guys for reacting to this so quickly.
we appreciate you joey
I’m glad you guys caught how Krazy 8 got his name. A lot of people miss that on their first watch. You guys definitely love this universe and I’m living for it 🃏😡📁😥
These guys are just masters at telling a story now you see all the strings of a Web come together in this episodes one of my favorite episodes in this series
Mike also flipped out on the Daughter in Law when she asked about the money she found.
Mike's scene with his grand daughter was heavy, the acting is so good by everyone just like in BrBa. Another masterpiece under Gilligan's belt. Always great catching up on your guys' reactions🙌🏼
I just don't want Jimmy/Saul/Gene to die at the end of this show
The gnome might be a throwback to the pink bear in Breaking Bad missing an eye.
Is it me or when they woke up in the car, did that look like Hank and Marie’s street, the one house even looks like theirs.
Count me in too bud
Yes I thought the same thing!
Rogue D'Ancanto You have an awesome name by the way, Rogue has always been one of my favorite X-Men characters.
God this show is just so bloody good! So glad you're continuing to cover it. :D
it climbs the rankings of my all-time fav every episode -S
In BB Krazy-8 is an informant for Hank.. Really curious what's going to happen between now and then to set that up!
The more episodes I watch, the more I feel that BCS is even better than Breaking Bad. It feels more polished and visually more appealing.
and add in the challenge that BCS is a prequel and is limited by the story they can tell. BCS is AMAZING!!!!
@Slender Man She was definitely not smarter than him, Walt was a genius.
Pretty sure Steve's first words were "HOLY SHIT DUDE"
18:59 I totally didn't notice that when I watched it. Nice catch.
I speak no Spanish, and I got that one. Well.. I know ocho is 8 (from Dodgeball) and everyone knows Loco.
Jesus I can’t wait for Saul meeting Lalo
Holy shit ! I loved these 2 episodes! Everything so amazing ! That cab guy was sketchy forsure
And of course when he again resorts to using fear as a motivator, it's what eventually causes his death.
since this universe doesn't have story holes, i fully expect something to happen with Gus' methods
How do you know he didn't just say that just as another chess move? He could have been lying for all we know. Perhaps using fear wasn't the best move in that particular situation so he just said that.
You guys should watch True Detective Season 1 -> its one of the best seasons of any show ever...and then you should give a shot to Mr.Robot -> the most underrated show that I know of by FAR!
then The Expanse
Or Fargo. I can't believe people haven't reacted to it.
we have watched True Detective S1
"You see him with his Granddaughter" . . . oh dear . . .
Jessie was the one who introduced Walter to Saul Goodman, so he kinda knew him.
Jesse said that Saul was Emilio's lawyer. That's how he knew about him.
He didn't know Saul, he knew of him. They never met before
Is it just me, but it seems each episode keeps getting better & better? I'm always in suspense & can't breathe watching it! 😡😥📁 🃏
its not you... this show is getting better every episode.
I just wanted to say how much I love you guys!
The ending where he meets nacho, could this job be the one from the quote “it wasn’t me it was Ignacio”
No
Kim becomes Wendy from Breaking Bad.
yikes!!
Steven before watching the witcher: **chuckles*
Steven after watching the witcher: **chuckles* "fuck"
Every time they force him to drop his ice cream, it hurts! That part is heartbreaking! 😭
He’s still Jimmy at this point in time. He’s only Saul professionally.
The 50% off and gnome on the ground with the broken face was a reference to Gus Frings bright future.
Mike: "You're making a mess!"
Captain Holt a few minutes later: "Apparently that's a trigger for me..."
Noice
It's good to see you guys again. I was afraid that you were going to wait until the end of BCS Season 5 to react to it.
Wait.....this episode is out already? I’d better go watch it!!!!!
That scene with nacho was beautifully acted, and i was right with him begging them not to through my screen
@@yemmlie Oh yeah I just rewatched it, sorry lmao.
That bit with Mike made me tear up.
The gnome looks like a call back to the episode "Face Off" from Breaking Bad where Gus got half his face blown off. A nice double entendre.
the lawn gnome met the same fate as Gus. 50% off.
edit: still always think about how Saul was worried that it was Ignacio when Walt and Jesse brought him out to the desert in Breaking Bad.
He was trying to pin the blame of what happens on Nacho. What he was worried about was that the two masked men had been sent by Lalo.
And HE Gets to be a lawyer!?"
chuck wasn't wrong
Lalo such a great character. One of my favourite characters in all of the Breaking Bad Universe.
poker and mint chip ice cream. yooo what else do ya need
EMILIO!!! Lol I miss the season one days when you guys first started watching, so glad you’re watching this show
Rhea Seehorn’s ponytail should get a “Best Supporting” Emmy nod
I just finished watching this episode and I somehow had no idea that was krazy 8 until watching this reaction. I didn't even realize when hearing Lalo call him "ocho loco". how the hell have I been so blind?
This might be my favorite episode intro of the entire series.
That ice cream was the most heartbreaking casualty in this franchise, and it's not even close
20:48
He said gain his trust, he went and played parkour superman and damseled their stash, he's in good now.
There were gnomes in Walt/Heisenberg’s neighbors’ lawn when he returned home to get the reisen I believe. Also the episode when the plane exploded and debris was in Walts pool, I believe there was a gnome there too... I could be wrong tho.
That’s the same realtor that was showing the house that Marie stole from.
You sure about that? They look completely different.
I coulda swore that realtor was a fat lady. I remember her fighting over Marie's purse.
Not at all... wtf 😂
@@crazy224488 You're absolutely correct, Its not her. Not sure why people are thinking this, just because she's a realtor?
23:03
I guess “The Lie Detector” runs in the family.
A lawyer with street smarts is probably one of the most deadliest weapons a person can have.
Character actor, Don Harvey. Another channel I subscribe to described him as a guy who has a, "face that you just want to punch" and I thought that summed it up perfectly.
Just realized crazy 8 is loco ocho in spanish, has a nice ring to it
FYI, Crazy Eight is the key character to Breaking Bad story, Crazy Eight will get more screen time in Better Call Saul because he is going to lead to Jesse , because Crazy Eight is the first Drug Dealer that Walt knows from Breaking Bad' Pilot.
33:00
You never know, maybe Nacho could be the first use of the disappearer vacuum guy, RIP Robert Forster.
I personally hope not. Ed has been used enough at this point between Jesse, Walt and Saul.
@@NikkiStevenReact
Well you know Jesse wasn't the first person he tried to pick up, and there's got to be a first guy who knows a guy, to lead Saul to knowing that Ed exists. Saul has probably referred several clients to replacing the dust filter for their Hoover MaxExtract PressurePro model 60.
The scene with Nacho at the beginning almost gave me a heart attack
Also... if you recall... Hank mentioned in Breaking Bad after Crazy 8 died that he had been an informant for them. My guess is this is the beginning of that
28:24 Yeahhhh, buddy. Particularly Texas Hold Em for me. That was my shit too back in my last couple years of high school then into college.
In Breaking bad, Jesse says that Saul got Krazy-8 out of jail no ? It’s getting close.
I think he said it was Emilio
I wonder if this is when the DEA turns Krazy-8 to be their snitch as is revealed in BB
I was convinced that as soon as Victor walked into the the restaurant, that he would just shoot all the people there immediately.
I don’t think Lalo will die because Saul references him in Breaking Bad.
So did Gus when he told Hector Lalo was dead in Breaking Nad.
Man, I thought Hank was gonna show up in that DEA raid. That would’ve been awesome
