I am very happy to see you after a long period. Your crystalline clear waves with distinguished pranaunciation hit me a lot. I just close my eyes to feel your vocal texture. Excellent review. I will buy your recommend case. Live long forever.
I'm still using the Define R4 (got it sometime in 2013-2014) and it's by far the best case I've ever had, I absolutely love that thing. Upgrading to the Define-7 is kind of tempting, but it's very expensive (about 235USD in my country), so it's a bit hard to justify.
Great video! I really like the sleek, minimalistic design and the excellent build quality of the Fractal Design cases. I still have an older Define R5 for my main rig and it is very quiet, cool and it is such a pleasure to work in due too the available space and all the cable management options. If I was shopping around for a new case, this new model would be very hard to pass on.
I would definitely recommend that case . I have redefine 6 and I absolutely love it and seeing to the fact that the price is the same I would definitely go now for Define 7 case. I mean it if you have doubts about which case to buy grab redefine 7 and you won't regret it. Yes it's a bit on a pricy side but it's a Cadillac of a case I assure you ! Noise levels are on par with Be Quite! if not better, plenty of room literally for any build plus very good temperatures, dust filters which you can wash all over the case, amazing cable management possibilities, built in fan hub, superb fans I can go on forever about this case. If you have that one extra buck just grab it and don't doubt !
I've had the Define 7 for about 18 months now and it is, simply put, the best case I've ever owned. Its eays to clean and maintain, has lots of room for hard drives, and I love the optical bay for my Blu Ray burner. I could not recommend this case more highly. It's the best of the best. Now I want the XL version so i can get one of the new, oversized GPU's. The RTX 2070 Super fits just fine with the case set up for 7 HDD and an optical drive. The RTX 3080 might not.
Great review Nada, I really love the camera work and the builds. The case looks deceptively small with nothing in it, even the small one is bigger in every dimension than my p400

Really a lovely video about this awesome case . No words for you guys just awesome and understandable review. Keep it up . Love you TechTesters with support and love :)
I'm actually using a Meshify 2 for my main rig, and an NR200P as an ITX rig. But there are so many nice cases, as long as they perform well it's all about preference.
The silver and white colors are great, even at 1:43 where the side intakes at the front appear slightly off-white, it's still very nice and I may actually it over fully matching the intakes and side panel. The busy angular cutouts everywhere and huge volume are too much for me though.
Thank you! I just ordered the Define 7, White with a tempered glass side panel. I have an MSI meg-Ace EATX board, 3080FTW-3, 12900K, 2 times 32GB Gskill ram @ 6,ooo, and an EVGA 1,100 W supply going into it. I m EXCITED!!.🤡🍾🍷🥂 YAY!
Great review, wonderful close-ups. SInce you installed the Asus ROG Zenith II Extreme in the Define 7 XL, do you believe that config could fit in the Define 7? The Define 7 claims to support E-ATX up to 285cm (11.2"), which I assume is "width" measured from the rear of the case towards the front. The Zenith II is specified at 12.2" x 10.9", of which the 10.9" is the "width". So it appears it would just fit, but I wish there was a picture of how this board would look in the Define 7 case. You mentioned E-ATX would cover the rubber grommets but E-ATX boards vary so much in width, not sure how this specific board would look. Anyway thank you again for the outstanding review!
@@TechTesters Hi again, built my system based on your review and great advice: TR3970x, MSi TRX40 Creator MB, Enermax LiqTech II TR40 cooler, 128GB G.Skill Trident-Z Neo 3200/CL16 RAM (more on that), EVGA RTX2070 Super XC Gaming GPU, Seagate 520 1TB PCIe4.0 NVMe, and of course - Fractal Define 7 XL case! Hadn't built a system in 10 years, so it was sheer joy to see how much better the PC industry is nowadays at plug'n'play. Right away it was obvious why you said to go with the XL if building a TR system... these MB's are huge, and even with the XL the MB fully covers the first set of cable grommets on the RHS. Simply move the grommets over to the second set of holes and boom, perfect fit and cable routing. I couldn't get over how well built, and well organized, this case is. One thing for your readers - all the cabling coming from the front/top panel (USB's, power button, audio) are PRE-ROUTED and tied down beautifully along the back panel. I literally had to do nothing with these other than connect them to the MB. Additionally, it was easy to piggyback onto those routed cables with other cabling (fans, etc.) to keep everything super neat. Of the 50+ case review videos I watched, yours was the one that helped the most, by far. Seeing your "real life" system installed is what folks like me really appreciate. Thank you!
Forgot - re: the RAM choice, some will point out lower CAS would be better... However, was able to get this 128 GB kit for $600, and using 1usmus's Ryzen DRAM Calculator I'm running this kit at CL14/3600 MHz. Super happy with my choice, computer is a blazer. Now if I could just get Adobe to understand what multi-core/multi-thread is all about, my life would be complete... disappointing improvement in Photoshop and ancillary photo editors like Topaz. Haven't fired up video editing yet, expect more improvement there.
@@jameskirkpatrick361 I'm looking into building a new system similar to what you built! I'm glad I read your comments because I was considering going for the Fractal Meshify case which I think is similar size to the Design in this video, but now I'm pretty sure I need to get the XL case! My plan is to get the same TR CPU and MOBO as you, but I'm going to run dual RTX 3090 or 3080 GPUs, and 256GB RAM. I was interested in what you mentioned about a RAM calculator? I read somewhere that when using 256GB of RAM with the Threadrippers that the clock speed of the RAM has to go down. I don't really understand how that works exactly, but do you have a recommendation for a 256 GB high end RAM kit for the Threadripper 3970x? Cheers!
Top professional design, cheap materials. Looking forward to the day Fractal will make a premium on this case - full metal, 0 plastic. Small changes are also awaited, but the most important one is the case material. Kids can buy plastic for gaming PCs, but big guys need metal for a professional workstation look and feel. Fingers crossed!
The side panels I am guessing will last for a long time. I for one do not get into my case that often. So I will not be opening and closing that much to possibly wear out the mechanism. You can even screw them in for transport if you want extra insurance that they are not opening.
Wanna chime in regarding the CPU (12v) power plug, which normally comes in 4+4pin design. With my Fractal R5, that 8 pin plug is too huge to go through the cable management holes on the top rear of the case. I need to split them into 2, route them through the hole, then join back to 8pin. I believe this is the issue you are facing at time 06:00? While the only time I disconnect that plug is during a PSU or motherboard change, having such tiny cutout that barely fit an 8pin CPU power plug is just absurd. I really hope Fractal is reading this.
Nice cases, but after using a R6 and a Meshify S2.... I don't see a strong enough reason to change. Slightly more refined and tuned, nothing breathtaking, but that's a good sign, they continue the Define legacy, which have shown its potential over the years .
It was between this or a Phanteks Enthoos Pro 2 and after some digging I just prefer the front io panel on Fractal than I do on Phanteks. Plus Id be staying with an optical drive and plenty of room to spare with 4x 3.5 hdds 1x 2.5 ssd and a 4080 or 4090 in the future
I am old school. I will be installing two hard drives in the cage in the bottom. Is it suggested to install a fan or two on the bottom next to them? Or just fans in front, back and on top are good enough?
I own a Fractal Design Define R4, R5 PCGH and a R6 tempered glass. I love their timeless design and quality build. Also great brand with support for spare parts. However I won't buy any of these minimalistic designs and pay full price for basically less metal so I will stick with the older cases.
Still front door open very narrow only to 90 degree, they should minimum to 180 degree or even to the side of case 270 degree, still they can do this corectlly. Case should be 2-3 cm taller, and shorter on deep, it's deeper even that R5. I prefer HDD cages like it was in Define R5. On another minus they remove second 5.25 bay since R6. Overall great case, one of the best on world, but still not perfect in all apsects.
Some of use still want cases that allow you to install optical drives. Yes, some of out there do still like having them and still use them. So the Meshify cases would not work for me.
@@TechTesters - I have two in my current (i7-3770K yes it is old!) build. Rarely use them. I keep debating myself if I really need it or not. One of those things that I might think I not need, but end up needing one day. I have way too many dvd's of files, programs, etc. sitting around.
The Define 7 mid-tower case is almost the same exact size as my old Antec Performance One tower case. Good thing I did not get the XL case. That one would have been way too big.
hey TECHTESTERS could i still fit my bluray burner in the 5.25 bay with a ( Aquacomputer Airplex Radical 2/280, Aluminum Fins ) placed topside an frontside its Dimensions are :320 x 140 x 40 mm this is importent to me as i still use my burner quite offen ? an would ther be enough space the place a set of 140mm fans topside with the rad an not run into the mainboard or ram my chosen cpublock would ther be clearence ,fitting are this ( CPU-RYZEN-X-MK / two 90-Degree With Dual Inner G1/4″ Elbow Adapter - Black / two 5mm Spacer Adapter - Male-Male G1/4 - Black / two DarkSide 1/2″ID - 3/4″OD Straight Compression Fitting - Black one set for input an output ) ?
I got an R6 to build my gaming pc around christmas last year, pretty happy with that, maybe a bit too heavy but I guess it's because of the quality of the materials; it's relatively silent and it has a very good air flow, only I wish there would be a version of it where the power supply could be mounted up and not down since having many pets I live in a fairly dusty environment
I try to decide between Define 7 and Silent Base 601 but its a tought question... u say this case is just perfect, but what about the BQ601? I saw the review from that, but u just criticized the thermals and nothing more. (even the thermals as turned out later are good, but u just need more intake fans, so its not a negative too) Can u say any negative thing from the BQ case? In my eyes thats mechanically better: side panel "hinge" system better, front panel push up method is very unique and effective, HDD bay method is better too, cuz u dont have to use a whole panel to install extra HDD-s, but just slide in those bays. I think fractal sleeker/cleaner, but i cant say any actually mechanical/practical thing what would be better here than in the BQ case. :/
They are so close in their quality and function. For me the FD looks way cleaner and refined than the BQ series. I also HATE that BQ puts their name on the front of the case. I choose FD over BQ just for the aeshetics as technically they are both great and very close in performance.
I got an X570 Auros Xtreme because it was the only one without a chipset fan I was so concerned about noise, and now it's fucked me over because of how restricted my choices in cases are. I basically would have to get the XL just to comfortably fit the motherboard >_>
Try the meshify c,or the meshify c mini.footprint is 395mm.similar to the 220T. There is also silverstone ps15 for microatx but you gotta use a 2slot gpu. Have a meshify c. Thinking of getting mini. Its a great case. Good luck man and all the best.
@@nawtieshehzada think only difference with mini is height and mesh c is that you can use a 360 rad. You can try researching then looking at pcpartpicker for completed builds. 220T, you can take out the front panel for more airflow and maybe sell the 220t or 2nd goods/ebay later once you get a new case.I really like the silverstone ps15 which is 351mm depth but are limited on compatibility on hardware but you can make it work.Other alternatives, you could try getting a q500l and mod it or looking at itx builds. Like lianli tu150 but requies an itx board and power supply. Kinda like at odds of whether to get a new case cos like mesh c 395mm,220t think is 391mm.q500l is 38+mm, ps15 is 351mm. Comparing the depth is it worth that 5-20/40 mm depth reduction to buy a new case? Lol. See how it is. Cheers Mate
Well if you get one of the glass side cases, you could do what I did and use the hd pins for the power light. Any led fans, light strips or rgb takes care of letting you know its on. Works great.
personally i own FRACTAL Define R6 USB-C Black and i'm still amazed how much stuff you can put in it, build quality is amazing, deff recommend buying
Same here, my R6 Build is the bomb.
I have this case as well, don't see myself moving away from it unless it happened to break but I doubt it.
Im planning to buy either R6 or R7. Which one should I get?
XL for the win!!!
One of the best cases I had the fortune of using...ever
Unless you don't need all that space for water cooling.
Finally a XL R2 successor. I can upgrade now.
I was honestly wondering if Fractal was going to ever make another XL series chassis ever again.

They are so close in their quality and function. For me the FD looks way cleaner and refined than the BQ series. I also HATE that BQ puts their name on the front of the case. I choose FD over BQ just for the aeshetics as technically they are both great and very close in performance.
both are awesome..
Why comes the XL not in grey? :-(
Very honest review. People rarely speak the truth.
absolute unit
I'm still rocking my Fractal Design Arc XL.
Nice!
Only minus is that cases does not have LEDs for HDD and Power together.
What corsair aio is that that comes with ll fan? I know only corsair aio that comes with ml fan.
I got an X570 Auros Xtreme because it was the only one without a chipset fan I was so concerned about noise, and now it's fucked me over because of how restricted my choices in cases are. I basically would have to get the XL just to comfortably fit the motherboard >_>
Fractal Define 7 $169
Define 7 XL $189
Which is bigger or better this or Lian li 011 XL?
i heard this case has very terrible thermals and that it cannot fit 420mm well at top and front
Would have been epic to see xl review separately
Yeah, but I have to make choices, only so many hours in each day ;)
I need some case like this in my next build
R u selling ur old graphic card , i want to buy.
Can either of this chassis take EATX of 305W x 330D? And are the HDD brackets plastic or metal thanks!!!
Yes and metal
@@UpsideDownCanoe have purchased a 7XL last week and found out but thanks!
Define 7 XL
That's a sleek case 😎
Hey! There she is! I was wondering when you'd put up a new video. Must've been a busy couple of weeks.
Yeah, had a lot going on. But, should have another one tomorrow :)
650 watts is a little low for that system don't you think?
It's plenty until you OC a lot. I'd probably put a 750 in though if I was keeping that rig to use.
What is the case behind you?
Cooler Master Cosmos C700M :)
Techtesters okay thanks
Nado, ako budes imala priliku, kontaktiraj proizvodjace Dan, Ncase i Louqe kucista kako bi se dodatno popularizovao ITX segment.
To je odlicna ideja i vec smo planirali da odradimo par SFF kucista. NCase je definitvno na mojoj wish listi :)
@@TechTesters
Lepo je isto znati. Hvala.
Radis, radite odlican posao.
Sve najbolje zelim.
The XL variant looks tempting for my homeserver build... But it's so expensive here in Germany!
It's expensive everywhere I think. Nice case though!
It's about 200€. As far as I can tell that's above MSRP. I guess retailers can ask for that much as there doesn't seem to be a lot of competition.
A case that looks good and be able to install a 5.25" drive in it. Yes, people still use those.
i just bought recently be quiet 900 pro not happy at all specially with psu place and the cover i had fractal define c so define 7 xl will be my next
7 xl too big for me , i like 7 it's fabulous..the white colour is so good
Agreed! :)
Dhaundiyal Cp you are too weak
I was getting worried as i wasnt seeing any new videos for a while.
Busy weeks, but more is coming! :)
Nice video
Know im sure i would never have that
Can anyone tell me what the case is that is behind her?? I am in love with it.
I can! It's Cooler Master Cosmos C700M 😉
Good review.
It is? 8:33 😉
@@TechTesters I must be stupid to not see it.
No worries, it happens!
good cases but I would remove the front cover
Still want the Vector RS.
unfortunately, 7 XL can't mout video card vertically coz it's getting way too close to the side panel
V GPU in 90% of cases only makes sense with custom water cooling :)
Techtesters so any suggestions to keep the lower temp of the video card with it facing down? (I bought this case)
Whisper quiet except for the coil whine on the GPU
Does anyone know what tower she has in the background?
Cooler Master Cosmos C700M 😉
Meh don't like cases with swing doors.
Open fronts with easy to remove filters are much better.
Except a lot of people don't like the way that looks?

What's there not to like?
What's the case in the Background?
cm Cosmos C700P
Cooler Master Cosmos C700M
Not reason enough to replace my S2... 😅 Nice little changes though...
Nah, s2 is still fine!
Beautiful woman, love her accent and clear, quality explanations
When does the case comes out?
They should be available right now. They are here in the Netherlands at least.
@@TechTesters I live in Florida so I checked newegg and Amazon and cant find them pls if you can send a link.
@@tcdixon90 Patience, dude!
Toooo wide for me.. 😒 I want a fractal case but like a compact case similar to corsair's Icue 220t.. I have 220t and I don't like the 220T.
Try the meshify c,or the meshify c mini.footprint is 395mm.similar to the 220T. There is also silverstone ps15 for microatx but you gotta use a 2slot gpu. Have a meshify c. Thinking of getting mini. Its a great case. Good luck man and all the best.
@@paulmichaelsabapathy9672 Well I wanted meshify c mini but I live in UAE and meshify c mini here costs around 200$ 😬
Cheers Mate
xl olny black version WHYYYYY whYYYYYYY??!! i dont believe this ..... i want only one damn silent and white full tower case :(
The Define 7 mid-tower case is almost exaclty the same size as my old pc's Antec Peformance One full tower case. The XL would be way too big for me.
Well I am still stuck with gtx 650 why are gpu soo expensive In India thinking I'll have to buy a rx570 second hand
I have gtx 675 and I'm upgrading to rtx 2080ti in april
@@Bigma6400 2080ti boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii wtf rich boiii
When are they available
From what I understood: Right away.
@@TechTesters cant find it on amazon, or newegg. Hmm
this case dont have power led for hard disk.. too bad
Well if you get one of the glass side cases, you could do what I did and use the hd pins for the power light. Any led fans, light strips or rgb takes care of letting you know its on. Works great.
The R... Ran away 🤣😂🤣 ok I leave now
Nice video friend
