    The vodka starch worked great, however, I have one word of caution to those who may not be so experienced with ironing. It's possible that there is something in the vodka that can "clean" your iron (even when you don't think it needs cleaning). Luckily, My first swipe was on the UNDERSIDE of the collar of a white shirt. I was shocked to see yellowish stains. After that, I kept testing the iron and I even ironed the rest of the shirt on the wrong side to be sure it wouldn't happen again. And it was fine. So that leads me to believe that the first swipe requires vigilance on the ironer's part to be 100% sure it is 100% clean : )

      Thank you for this. That’s a great tip to save your clothing from staining. I hadn’t thought of it. That will be another good topic to cover… the best way to clean your iron. Thanks for sharing and watching.

    I am so glad you did this demonstration! Since I'll be using the spray starch on quilting fabrics, I was especially interested in seeing if either one would leave residue or spotting on a dark cloth and you showed us the proof! Thanks so much for your helpful videos.

    I purchase table cloth napkins from thrift stores, antique stores, etc. for the bathroom & kitchen to replace paper towels (preferably & always white so I can h2o them in the wash) I starch & iron them. The starch spray keeps a great protective barrier on them. I too enjoy ironing. (I do that as an added service to my clients I clean for). It must run in the family because my Aunt irons her sheets too. New subscriber. PS your coffee filter flowers are gorgeous!✌💜

    This is totally unrelated to this video but I wanted to follow up on another video but didn't have your email address. It's related to using hand sanitizer gel on resin or Sao. I'm happy to report that waxing the car worked great to remove the scuffs from the gel! Just thought you'd like to know.

    That was so much fu at the end with that Ooblek! Thanks for that! Now I have to get some to play with the grandkids! As for the starch, I wondered if adding some vodka to the cornstarch recipe might make that last indefinitely too? Any thoughts?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  2 месяца назад +1

      I’m so glad you liked this. I made both recipes separately, the starch kept for months. You need to shake it before using it. I found the vodka recipe to be sufficient for a soft starch on clothing, pressed looking but not hard. However, for crafts and other sewing projects the cornstarch was stiffer, held its shape. I’ve never tried combining the vodka with the starch. I’m not sure how much of a difference it would make. I’m sure your grandchildren will get a kick out of the experiment! Thanks for watching and sharing.

      @@suzyrebelo I made it right after I posed this a month ago. I added the vodka and it works great! I was surprised it does not smell like a barroom in my sewing room! It's pleasant scented, really and I didn't add any scented oils.

    I'm allergic to corn. How would potato starch work? Why can't you put vodka in to extend the shelf life?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  5 месяцев назад

      I’ve never tried it but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. You’d have to test it with the same amounts to see if it works. I say that because I don’t know which of the starches stuffed clothing more. The potato vodka works quite well on its own. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.

    Do you use steam mode when you iron with starch?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  4 месяца назад

      Hi there, I did not steam because the spray dampens the fabric. I set my iron according to the fabric. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching

    HOW MANY MONTHS DOES THIS STARCH SPRAY KEEP ..HOW DO I PRESERVE IT

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  Год назад

      Hello the vodka recipe keeps indefinitely. The cornstarch I’m not 100% sure. I use mine up within 2 months. It probably keeps longer but just keep an eye on it. Hope this helps and thank for watching.

    What's the reason to starch the fabric?

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  Год назад

      Linens and cottons don’t hold their shape. The spray starch gives the item body and does keep the item cleaner longer. If you notice a starched tablecloth will almost bead liquids off. Mainly , it keeps clothing etc… neatly pressed for longer. Thanks for watching.

    How do i add fragrance to it???

    • @suzyrebelo
      @suzyrebelo  8 месяцев назад

      Hi there. I wouldn’t add fragrance because it may stain or damage your clothes / material. Especially because you are using it to iron and it would further heat set the stain. I would sooner add nice fragrant fabric softener to the laundry . Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
