    Would recommend a new timing chain, oil chain and timing chain tensioner. Cleared all that clicking noise up in my moter.

    Congrats on tackling this yourself man! Info for future, engine oil recommended is 40 weight wet clutch comparable. I use Amsoil 0w-40 and change it once a year. To find true top dead center, remove that plug to the right of the oil fill plug. It requires an Allen bit. There is a T with a line next to it. That’s the timing mark. The valve lash definitely sounded lose, with the T set so your at tdc, both rockers have play, adjust lash to .005 or 5 thousandths with the engine cold. You’ll probably only do that once because it’s on the 500 hour service increment I believe. Unless you ride a lot🤣. Hope you had a fun summer on it and get in some good riding the rest of the year. Cheers.

    I love my 250x I'm 32 and weigh 150lbs and 6'1 and it's perfect for trail riding. Although I will say on bigger hills in the trails you have to click it down to 2nd gear and if it's really steep down to first gear but I've had no problems with mine. I have put new diff bearing from all balls and all new wheel bearings in and changed the steering boot and she is mint. I would like an exhaust and new shocks because I don't like the squeaking it makes while riding in rough terrain.

    Most ATVs need a 4T oil which has a friction modifier for the clutches. Straight engine oil will kill your clutch because it will let it slip. Also I'm going to replace the valve seals while I'm in there. Half the smoke is probably due to bad seals.

    Soda blasting is a great way to clean up your oxidation or the white spots on your block. Our Honda 250 had bad oxidation and soda blasting worked great to clean it up. You use an air hose and blaster gun, then dump the soda medium (like baking soda) into the blaster and then pull the trigger.

    I recently just got a 2014 Honda trx250x that’s been sitting and stripped it down to upgrade some things on it. As I was at it I buffed off some of the rust on frame and also the engine... does good job. I used a wire wheel attachment to an impact drill not as much force as a grinder with wire wheel .

    Get you a bottle of White Lightning acid. Wet the engine down with a hose, then spray it all over the engine. Wear a mask while doing this. Let it sit for a minute or two then pressure wash it off. That’s about the best way I’ve found to clean up aluminum. Don’t do it to many times, because it will start to make the metal bolts start to rust.

    • @bossadamsgarage
      @bossadamsgarage  2 года назад

      I have heard of them but I have not used them myself. If I were to purchase a new one though I would go with this one amzn.to/3lIHeOr. This kit is a niche kit that has everything you will need to do the job. I had to purchase things separately, which was kind of a pain. I'd also pick up a valve lash tool as well amzn.to/3lNvPNr because it will need to be done once you do the repair. I will be doing a video here soon on the quad adjusting the valve lash to the proper mm and torque specs.

    Is that ticking a loose bolt somewhere or did you forget to adjust the valve lash?

    • @bossadamsgarage

      The ticking noise is coming from the bottom of the case. I’m not sure what it could be without stripping down the whole motor. My friend repairs quads for a living and he gave me a quote but I haven’t been able to pull the trigger yet to let him strip it all the way down.
