I think the remix that just came out of Charli XCX's Girl, so confusing with Lorde warrants a whole video of its own. It's such a wholesome (but probably not easy) outcome for them both, and it's so anti-beef, i love it
Watching a guy with an American accent say "bled" as an Algerian makes me feel just as weird as hearing it from a French accent. Mais continue Monsieur Skye, t'es tres fort toi.
16:55 he's not talkin about coal exportations "au charbon" in french means he works hard "charbonner" (like a verb) is workin hard. then he says "on fait temps plein" wich means that he does 7/7
Excited to check this out. I wanna hear your thoughts on Kendrick’s pop out show. I know you’re probably tired of talking about the beef but I think that this was a very interesting moment that will definitely go down in the rap history books.
Concerning the Southern suburbs of Paris we had two exceptionnal bands from Val-de-Marne (94): Mafia K'1Fry (album: La cerise sur le ghetto) and 113 (Les princes de la ville) and one of my recent discoveries: Karlito (album: Contenu sous pression --> amazing !)
Thank you for doing this!! AVAA! My French prof introduced me to my first French rap-Solaar-25 years ago. 🔥🔥🔥 Always looking for new stuff. And yes, that was Redman in Missy Elliot song. 👏👏
It'd be awesome if you made a video with some french rap classics. I'm now really interested into it and would appreciate recommendations, specially from you.
he probably would not give you the same list, but here's some old and new classics (around 10 of each decade) : Lunatic - Mauvais Œil Booba - Temps Mort / Ouest Side / Nero Nemesis IAM - Ombres et Lumières / L'école du micro d'argent NTM - Paris sous les bombes / Suprême NTM Oxmo Puccino - Opéra Puccino MC Solaar - Prose Combat Ärsenik - Quelques gouttes suffisent... Doc Gynéco - Première consultation Idéal J - Le combat continue La Fouine - Aller-retour Despo Rutti - Convictions Suicidaires Nessbeal - Rois sans Couronnes Salif - Boulogne Boy Sefyu - Suis-je le gardien de mon frère ? Rohff - La fierté des nôtres / Le Code de l'horreur Ol Kainry & Dany Dan - Ol Kainry & Dany Dan Kaaris - Or noir (part 1 & 2) PNL - Le Monde Chico / Dans la légende / Deux frères SCH - A7 / JVLIVS Ateyaba (Joke) - Ateyaba Damso - Ipséité Vald - Xeu Freeze Corleone - Projet Blue Beau / LMF Hamza - 1994
Really cool to see you review french rap albums! :) There's a lot of cool stuff being made atm in the scene in my opinion, artists like winnterzuko, luther, freeze corleone, or irko (and his collective "SPK") are some of my favorites lately.
if you didnt listen to it already i heavily recommend listening to the album "Moussa" by Prince Waly, it's really worth a listen. the tone of the lyrics is sort of similar to th's although a bit more personal, and the production and flows are in my opinion better and smoother than th's. Prince Waly is a rapper from Montreuil, he mainly takes inspiration from the more technical and rhyme-y side of 90s and 2000s french rap (les sages poètes de la rue, les x-men, le sayan supa crew, lunatic,...), and in this album in particular he talks about his long hiatus, his fight against cancer, fear of death, fear of losing his momentum, etc overall its my favorite french rap album of the decade so far, it would be a shame not to cover it. Jewel Usain also had a really cool album last year called "Où les garçons grandissent" sort of in the same vein if you havent heard about it
EVCT! I'm surprised that you haven't talked more about the track Pilule. It's probably my favorite on the album, it's so dark, one of the best tracks I've heard about parenthood and the dilemma of having a child in the current climate. And BBP's production is so MACABRE, feels like a bomb is about to be launched.
Thanks to you, I’ll take some time to listen to this album. For your info, I’ve heard from some friends that there is a really good American Football team in Bondy, it might be a reason why TH knows about that. And yes, it’s exactly as you said, suburbs should not be considered as Paris. Greetings from France!
AVAA, my first introduction to French music was Stromae (technically Belgian) then went on to artists like Bigflo et Oli, GIMS and the likes, but I really just made this comment to say that you put in words what I look for when listening to music, the story. I don't ever want to just hear about a lavish lifestyle I might live one day, all that is vain, I want something I can relate to as a normal person. This is what music is about, it's what makes life more complete.
I don't know if you take requests but I definitely have one. Your insights are fascinating and your means of discussing these things are fun. There is a relatively short album called Street smarts by the producer VHS logos. It is a vaporwave album. This particular style of vaporwave has a somewhat psychedelic and even dark feeling at times. The uneasy feeling that the cassette tape of your life has started to kink, but somehow you're still alive. It's just audio ketamine. I love it and I'm curious what you think of it
avaa Janet was just in Morocco and really enjoyed the new rap releases on the radio there. Of course she liked the 'flows' but did not understand the lyrics
If you made an analysis of the series "Bojack Horseman" I would be the happiest person on this earth. The first season of this animated series came out in 2014 and the last one 4 years ago, but its gaining a lot of popularity right now. It starts off as a comedy show in the first season and then gets darker, fucked up, depressing with one of the best storylines and amazing metaphors and its probably the most important show about mental illness. I think you would love it.
EVCT (Excellente Vidéo Comme Toujours)
c'est incroyable de voir des anglophones parler de TH
tu rigoles tu vas review th????? incroyable you're the best
Trop content que tu parle de ce projet ! Certainement un des meilleurs albums rap fr de cette année haha

You know L'école du micro d'argent ? It's my favorite french rao album. Pure 🔥
Amazing album haven’t heard something good like this since A2h libre in 2016. Keep the French rap coming!
IAM’s L’école du micro d’argent is a classic

Day 313 of Asking you to Review Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youth
Can you do a breakdown of Kendrick's unreleased masterpiece "Prayer"?
