- Christian is back in Tennessee at Big Tire Garage to continue the Cummins Repower TJ-to-LJ transformation. In this episode the Wrangler frame modifications are completed, the tub gets stretched, and the suspension build begins. Then the Cummins R2.8 Turbo Diesel Crate Engine is mated to a new AX15 with upgraded conversion parts, the axles are prepped, and the wheel and tire package gets assembled . Then it's time to introduce the big Dodge Ram pickup part of this build series!

I put a TDI 1.9 in mine from the City built kit and average around 25mpg with 4.88 gears, 35s and a 4 inch lift.... Was getting around 30 with 4.56 gears

Ive got a 1990 Toyota Hilux Surf id love to drop a Cummins into. Only snag ive come across is adapting the engine to the factory R150 transmission which is similar to the Jeep Ax15 but depth on the housing is way different so wont work. Id have to machine my own but dont have a lathe or mill 😢 one day. The factory 2L-T diesel is awesome but just dont pack a punch like a Cummins.
I have an r2.8 in an 85 4runner using the quick draw bellhousing to an r151f and dual gear driven cases. It required raising the trans tunnel a little bit and used a tcases cross member from front range off road. No body lift, 2.5" suspension lift. It can fit. I'm still using the stock shift bezel and center console, it looks factory but with some extra sticks.

No offence to the hosts but it's pretty clear this is more for the pavement pounders than dirt under the fingernails off roaders
Need a video on how to install quickdraw universal radiator and charge air cooler combo on a YJ because the steering box and column is in the way
Also don't see the brackets for sale on quickdraw for the original radiator 🤦

Cummins couldn't put it in an LJ, but I sure can. Then again, I'll put it in a much newer Jeep.
