New Hyundai Bayon Hybrid Review

- Introducing the new hybrid SUV from Hyundai - the Bayon.
Powered by a single petrol hybrid engine with two power outputs, combined with trims, you can choose from:
SE Connect 100 PS from £20,880.00 on the road
Premium 100 PS from £23,080.00 on the road
Premium 120 PS from £23,830.00 on the road
Ultimate 100 PS from £24,380.00 on the road
Ultimate 120 PS from £25,130.00 on the road
As all trims are hybrid, this helps with economy, and the Bayon also produces less CO2 than some of it's competitors, making it more desirable when it comes to Benefit in Kind (BiK)
All trims have plenty of safety features, however only the Ultimate trim is fitted with Blind Spot Detection and sadly, it's not an option that you can pay for if you go for another trim.

We trade in our 11 yr old i20 & collect our Premium 120 DCT very shortly & don't find the interior at all a letdown. In fact love it.
That's great news, and that's it, you're not going to get the same levels as the Tucson. This vehicle is perfectly kitted out for it's price, however we would have liked to see more refinement in the cabin such as padded arm rests in the rear. *A
I’ve had the SE Connect of the bayon for just coming up to year and i absolutely love it! Great wee car. Took it for a trip up the highlands last year for a few days and it ran great. Very comfortable car too!
We found it great fun on the A65, bet that was an adventure and a half Hannah 😀
Our old car (Opel Meriva from 2004) died on Tuesday morning, three days later we brought the new Bayon home. Looks awesome, getting used to the automatic transmission will take a while. Must say these days it's hard to find a new car on a smaller side that allows sitting a little higher.
Oh dear, a great outcome though - yes a cross between an MPV and SUV, is a tall order nowadays, thank you Mateja - enjoy
You made a great choice ☺️
Welcome to Hyundai's Family 👿😍
You summed it up in a nut shell Ben " Hyundai make some fine cars". although this isn't my cuppa tea, but every one to there own, this Bayon yet again is showing just how far the brand has come over the last few years. I agreed with you about the 'old school' hand brake instead of the bloody electric thing manufacturers put on some vehicles! All in all value for money wise in these crazy times of vehicles prices it's pretty good with the top spec leaving very little that you haven't got in it. Excellent review as always by you planet auto 🚘 👍
Thank you David, yes the only thing it lacks is a more refined interior, soft touches in rear etc, as you mention though - impressive and good value and there’s always the Tucson if you want more.
I have the Hyundai Bayon Ultimate Spec. Love it
Great to hear B dog 😎
Our bayon ultimate has been delayed 6 months now which is a shame, but it boasts bose sound system, cruise control and lane assist which works a treat when we test drove the car. Wireless charging does have a few issues with phone moving about and having to re connect. Small bits and bobs. Overall a great car and bang in the middle of the market.
That’s a shame, a rather impressive vehicle, thank you Leigh
In Germany i ordered with DCT, which took 9 months, expected to get delivered next month.
Keep us posted Jose
I'm also 6' 3" so it's great to see a review that I can really relate to, thank you! Seriously considering one of these. Apart from the space, the warranty very much appeals!
Good to hear Webby and you’re welcome - keep us posted on how you get on
First thing I will say is, it sounds lovely!!! Nicely equipped, just a shame that there are no soft touch points in certain areas. It does look nice and I love the upper light bar on the upper half of the front. Cheers
I wonder if they will upgrade some of the interior in future models. *A
The daylight running lights , sadly, don’t go across the whole front ala Volkswagen and even more sadly, the red strip between the rear light cluster is merely a red reflector. An opportunity missed.
Hopefully they’ll be added to the facelift, whenever that maybe 😊
Very much true.
I have the premium with 100 hp and a manual gearbox. Just love it.
Great powertrain, it’s a very nice 6 speed manual, thank you Emanuel
@@PlanetautoUK thank you, today I drove it for about 200 miles, didn't skip a bit.
Great to hear Emanuel 😊 thank you for reporting back
@@PlanetautoUK thank you for responding
😊
The problem with this car is the low driving seat height. This car is essentially a replacement for the IX20,but they have missed a trick ,as the IX20 had the high driver seat.I think Anna would agree ?
Another criticism is the bland all black interior. Please Hyundai add a bit of colour ! I've decided to look at Kona instead.
I didn’t have a problem driving it, Mister B. It was certainly different to the i20, that’s for sure, but I found the seat height to be okay, even though I am rather short, lol! *Annabelle
We've decided on the Bayon Ultimate Ben, it won over the i20 purely because of the easiness of getting in and out. Now the big wait but as they say, "a good thing is worth waiting for".
Couldn’t agree more, Geoff. Fingers crossed that it’s sooner rather than later
@@PlanetautoUK Thanks Ben, we did tell the Hyundai sales guy that your review sold it to us! Lol
Excellent - thank you very much Geoff
I had a choice just before Christmas when ordering a new car, it was between this and the Kia Niro. The Niro has a bigger boot so it’s coming this month.
Sounds like a plan! Enjoy your new Niro. *A
I've had a niro for the last 3 years and I've loved it...Great car very economical . You won't be disappointed
We've had both gens on review, and we totally agree with you, Maria. *A
I’m looking at this car for when I pass my test on Monday….hopefully.
Oh nice, what colour are you going for Meredith?
@@PlanetautoUK I like the blue one or green
Good luck with your test, and please come back and tell us your thoughts on your shiny new motor as a shiny new driver.
@@PlanetautoUK thanks
Waiting for our premium 100 DCT supposedly in the country now
Looks like the old Kona, To me the BAYON is the replacement for the old Kona shape car and now the new Kona looks nothing like a Kona.
The evolution of automotive design is an enigma - a world unto itself, if you will. As my brother says, it's the reason why we all drive different cars! Thank you, @markswales762
Good review
Thank you Kieran
Ordered mine December 2022 dealer told me delivery December 2023 ? Hopefully worth the wait (went for ultimate version)
It is 😀
My Bayon didn't come yet!😓😓
The dealership ordered the car on April 2022!
He told me it will come on March, but not yet!😓😓
I'm really sick of waiting!😓😓
Anyone knows how long does it take to deliver for a new Hyundai Bayon?
I live in Vienna Austria
☹️ here’s hoping you hear soon 😎
@@PlanetautoUK Thank you 🤗
You’re welcome, sadly many people in your situation with virtually every manufacturer 😵💫😎
I was hoping for a better interior, too much plastic .
It’s like the i20 in that way, it really needs higher trims to have a slightly tweaked interior, however it’s a good price considering MHEV tech etc. Thank you David
The Interior needs Improving with some soft touch materials and also a sunroof
The bottom line is, it's not an expensive car considering it's tech - they have to save money somewhere. It would be nice to see these available as options as opposed to features. Thanks, Jamie. *A
@@jamiep61 for soft touch interior materials should go for Hyundai Tucson!
Additionally Bayon has Sunroof option for 750€ extra cost!👿
Thank you for the heads up on the sunroof, I don’t think there’s one available in the UK.
