Just watched the 2023 release of the Sky F1 opening sequence. Had to come back here to relive the best opening sequence to any season of any sport ever. I hope the people who put this together are proud of their work.
2009 was the year I got back into F1 until 2014... I owe it to my Grandfather who was a secret petrol head... He got me back into it. Best intro I'd ever seen since 2001...
At eighteen thousand revolutions per minute this isn't music this, is the scream of science. This is the inner world of pneumatic valve springs, of mean effective pressure, three hundred brake horsepower per litre of displacement. The quest for the perfect four stroke V8 naturally aspirated reciprocating engine. And in the middle of the hot metal, the carbon, the alloy technology, sits flesh and blood. Rising out of its carbon fibre monocoque the coolest head. These are the eyes that could pick a face out of a crowd, as if motion were being slowed down, not passing in a blur at 200mph. This, is the pure mathematics of angles and aerodynamics, the physics of g-forces and friction, and the raw instinct to race. These, are the masters of speed. This.. is Formula One.
Velocita Fucking yeah it does. When you watched this you got literal shivers down your spine and it really hyped up the GP. The new theme is good as a song but it does terribly at hyping up a Grand Prix.
This was great. The whole 2009 package was brilliant, as was 2010. 2011 was pretty good on the beeb but 2012 is rubbish and...as much as I HATE SKY, I've had to watch their coverage as I simply can't stand Ben Edwards screaming for two hours. At least when Murray Walker did it it was entertaining...

this season was just awesome, the best since the Prost v Senna era. the rule changes really made it more about driver control and not car design. next season, with full fuel from the start, it will make it even more of a spectacle. Michael Schumacher to win his 8th title i reckon
Actually, only 12 years. I believe ITV purchased the license in 1997. Great to see the BBC get F1 back. I was getting annoyed with breaks and James Allen, but there is still something missing. Please bring back Murray Walker, at least for 1 race!

2015 was to my memory one of the worst seasons in recent F1. Just completely diabolical.

I've been watching this intro since the start of 2009 and have just realised that none of the drivers are wearing the HANS device!!
This was great.
