    Very good review. Thank you. I have owned two of this generation of CLS since 2012. I am 59 years old and have been lucky to own over 40 cars over the years, including multiple Mercs, BMWs, Audis, Jaguars and Porsches. Not only I agree that this is the best Merc ever and I have owned various S,E,SL and SLK class Mercs over the years, but the best and most complete car that I have actually ever owned. My current CLS 350 Diesel is 2016 AMG model in this Tanzanite blue colour with 19 inch wheels and on air suspension ( a must have) not only it looks good, but also rides extremely well. There is not a single aspect of this car that I do not love and the only other car that I can say the same about was an Audi A8 4 TDI 2003 Quattro, which was also great but not as reliable as CLS. I truly believe that this second generation CLS is simply a car that by pure coincidence has ended up being much more than the sum of its parts. The engine has all the power one needs, the ride is sublime, it is the right size, well built, well equipped, reliable and quiet, the seats are the best that I have ever sat on ( as good as seats of a Saab 9000 from 90s which were also amazing) and the consumption on my car indeed averages about 7 litres per 100KM in mixed driving. The only headache it gives me is that I cannot find a car that I want to replace it with. I own nowadays also a Volvo XC90 T8 2021 model that I use as my daily driver and family car and it is a really good car too. I use the CLS mostly for my regular trips between London and Paris once a month when I travel alone and sometimes during the weekends too. I have decided that this CLS is going to stay with me until a day when either it or me do not pass the annual health checks to be fit for driving any longer and we cannot go on trips together. It is that good.

      Wow I love your lovely words about you experience with the CSL. I can understand that it means a lot to you to own this car. Would you be able to sell it one day? I would be more than happy to come and buy it from you :) it would be a lovely experience to buy a car from a RUclips comment, but you definitely convinced me 😊 greetings !

    The 1st gen was better built, drove better, with a far better ride, hence why the first gen is selling faster than the second gen.

      lmao, it is selling faster because it is much cheaper. The 2nd gen looks far better

    I totally disagree with your statement (mark 0:17). I have actually owned 1st generation CLS for 5 years and can not blame this car for anything. Above all, I can not blame it for the way it looks. In fact, a concept of '4-door coupe' pioneered by Mercedes was QUICKLY picked up and copied by other manufacturers, namely: Audi A7, Opel Insignia, VW Passat CC. Having said that, it can not be all that bad idea.. The car is a real 'head-turner'. I now own c218 which is even more exiting machine. With its muscular lines, leather dashboard, full-LED intelligent headlights, powerful engine and staggering attention to details, 2nd generation of CLS leaves even less to be desired. TAK, CLSy TO NIESAMOWITE POJAZDY!

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      +truth seeker The fact it was copied doesn't make it look any better ;)

    • @kuba1531
      @kuba1531 8 лет назад +2

      +Marek Drives It would NOT have been copied if there was no demand for such concept. There would not be demand for such concept if people did not buy it. People would not buy it if they did not like it. After all, yours is only an opinion of one individual. How much it matters? It is not for me to judge.. If they do not like CLS, let them drive Fiat Multipla and C4 Cactus;)

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 8 лет назад

      truth seeker Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I didn't say there was no demand. I said I didn't like the way 1st gen looked. I still think it's a stupid idea, but syphilis vs. gonorrhea I prefer the new one ;)

    • @kuba1531
      @kuba1531 8 лет назад +2

      +Marek Drives And yet, you seem to like and appreciate A7 which is pretty much the same "idea". I owned A6 and Phaeton, in the past but definitely prefer MB. Mercedes cars are just better engineered, better thought out at designed stage and new CLS also looks more agressive than A7. All in all, you may like (or dislike) any car you wish and I will continue enjoying people's reactions to my c218, a "head turner" ;)

    • @av8743
      @av8743 5 лет назад

      truth seeker the w218 cls63 is gorgeous. Still one of nicest 4 door cars ever designed and I think most would agree with that.

    @Marek Drives nie myślałeś o tym, żeby robić filmy w 60 klatkach na sekundę? Podczas gdy kamera porusza się na slajderze widać jak obraz się rwie.
    Po za tym jak zwykle kawał dobrej roboty :)
    pozdrawiam

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад +1

      Myślałem. Ale myślałem też, ile kosztowałaby wymiana aparatu po roku użytkowania i GoPro po dwóch latach. Jeszcze nie jestem na tym poziomie dochodów, żeby sobie na to pozwolić.

    • @szymonEMM

      Marek Drives rozumiem, ja natomiast sądziłem, iż to kwestia programowa.

    • @MarekDrives

      Szymon Maciukiewicz Jeśli z aparatu nie wychodzi 60 klatek, to IMO podwajanie klatek zajmuje więcej czasu, niż jest to warte.

    • @szymonEMM
      @szymonEMM 9 лет назад

      Tak wiem sztuczne 60 nic nie da. Myślałem, że nie robisz filmów w 60 klatkach, gdyż nie pozwala na to konkretne oprogramowanie.
      Tak z ciekawości zapytam jakich mikrofonów używasz? Bardzo dobrze zbierają głos

    Have you ever tried the Audi 4.2 diesel? How does it compare to the unit in the Benz? The Benz one performs alright in the S and ML, but the Audi motor is probably an absolute beast.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад

      AutobahnDRIVER I find it hard to compare a V8 with a V6. Not to mention 50-100 hp difference between them.

    • @zAutobahnDriver
      @zAutobahnDriver 9 лет назад

      It may not be the fairest of comparisons, but it is Mercedes' most powerful diesel vs Audi's. New comparison then: M550d vs. the Benz motor. I understand both of those engines will blast the Benz unit away, but how much of a difference do you notice on the road? Btw., do you live close to the German border, i.e. how far away is the autobahn?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад

      AutobahnDRIVER I'll get back to you with that in a couple of months. Haven't driven anything 550d yet, but an X6 is on the horizon.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 9 лет назад

      AutobahnDRIVER Now that I think about it, I drove a 640d, which felt very heavy. As I said, a big old boat.

    @.3:07. Nothing as annoying as somebody criticising something and revealing they haven't taken the time to go through the user manual.
    Considering it's available in electronic and paper forms there is no excuse. Yes, it could be more easily found but take some responsibility, it makes the claimant look VERY unprofessional.
    It's there in the index in the paper version and you simply need to search for the word 'ambient', in the PDF.

    first gen ugly he says but not this one!..
    they look almost identical apart from the rear and front light and the grill styling.
    Their shape, size and curve lines are almost the same. The main side profile line that cuts from the front wheel arch to the back dips towards the back on the 2014 and not on the 2004.
    Oh and the side mirrors on the 2014 are uglier since they connect to the door below the window and not in the corner of the window like the first gen did.
    A matter of taste for sure, but the difference between the two models looks wise is so minimal that at first glance, the only way you would tell them apart is by the grill and tail lights.

    • @av8743
      @av8743 5 лет назад +1

      UblarGowilla overall the rear wheel arches and added creases make the second gen look more muscular/aggressive. While similar, this one looks more dynamic, modern, and aggressive=much improved.
