Congrats Sir, on finding an awesome place that is pretty spacious at a great price..! A washing machine in the unit is truly a blessing (especially when you've lived without one, ugh) and the benefits of having a 7/11 right next door are enormous. Anyhow, I'm wishing you the happiest new year in your new place and I hope you will create an update video 4 or 5 months from now and let us know how you're feeling about the new place at that time. Again, congrats.👏👏👏
Very nice, easy breezy… That is what I’m talking about…. When you find people and tranquility that means everything… the fact that you can do whatever you want has got to be liberating… Blessings to you guy…
Many are willing to negotiate. I did a 1 year lease which was fine after several vagabond months in the beginning. This video was a hotel I really liked about 5 minutes away from me. If I were coming for 1 or 2 months I would check a place like this. Convenient location and super easy going vibe! ruclips.net/video/6NS0iJRP9us/видео.htmlsi=PCxt6tqd2MD_uB8X&t=225
Emerald Palace Condominium, Pratumnak, Thailand. Full addresses here can be complicated, so it's best to look it up on Google. If you're staying for less than a month, consider a hotel where everything you need is just steps away.
Yes you can. Depending on what soi you're on, I'm on one of the last furthest from the bot bus. Even with that taking a easy slow stroll uphill will do it. I see 5-year-olds to 80-year-olds doing it. So baht bus is no problem.
I think the 3000 baht difference between the buildings is negligible when considering the overall cost in living. I’d rather get the unit I want the most and cut back in other areas if my budget requires.
While apartment hunting, I explored a few Thai neighborhoods. The apartments I saw weren’t fancy but were comfortable, and the neighbors were friendly. The prices were about half of what I’m paying now to maintain my current standard. Cost and comfort were my top priorities, and if I hadn’t been lucky enough to find this place, my Thai language skills might be much better by now. In those neighborhoods, I even met a few other foreigners ("Falang") who seemed to get along well with the locals and were warmly welcomed. I imagine their budgets were similar to mine-or maybe even smaller. After all, who chooses the cheapest option, especially for living conditions, unless they have to? Quality of Life is measured by many other metrics besides money.
Why? How long are you here for? I didn't make it clear in the video and maybe I will in another one but coming over here out of the center where all fun things are right outside your door is a better experience for the short-term. If you're here for a long stay then Pratumnak or Jomtien might be a better choice.
Definitely gotta be nicer for you compared to what certain parts of SF have become in the last several years. Bad policies have put a dark cloud on what has been a beautiful city for many, many years.
So much nicer to live in a completely different cultural realm and be around foreigners and locals who don't get angry if you talk to them. So much nicer & so much more!
Good question. Months ago I woke up with a roach on my head, and there were roaches in my room. They were all coming from one direction. Not from under the door but under the door frame. I spray my doorway one time a day and have not seen one since.
@@thepoormanspassportguide thank you for the response. You have a great channel, hope to run across your path when I return to Pattaya later in the Year. Salute
If you for whatever reason don't mention the name of the building in your condo review then at least provide a google maps link in the description. What is the point of condo review if you keep thr name of the complex a secret?
It depends who I'm talking to. I've asked quite a few Thai people to say it for me and it is definitely not what foreigners say, but you probably already know that.
Gotcha. I know you hold on to that in every situation. I'll give it a try. Funny how that caught your attention. It caught my attention since I've been here as well. My Thai GF goes long on the YAAaaa
Okay, I'll give it a try. Does it bend your ear like a bad note when everyone is saying it wrong? I thought about it so many times and my Thai GF goes long on YAAAAA. I think to get me to hear the difference
That is in my plan. There are so many options for lifting. Now I'm incorporating mobility exercise, including stretches and movements for guys over 50 and older. Our bodies have so many more parts than the stuff he told us to work on when I was young. No one ever said what to do with 60-year-old stiff hips or weak lower back. You'll need that stuff for boom boom time.
Why call a street Soy Sauce? Why people in the world use local languages to call a street when you can just say street or road ? Example : Sukhumvit street. Worst of all , they use the name Sukhumvit everywhere Damn
In Thailand, soi (Thai: ซอย [sɔ̄ːj]) refers to a side street branching off a main road (thanon, Thai: ถนน). It’s not “soy sauce” its "Soi 6"! I've never heard a foreigner say street or boulevard. I think its the whole "When in Rome" thing. When I talk to Thai people, I only hear soi-never the English terms we use, like Court, Street, Avenue, Road, or Boulevard. It’s similar how we use words like Lane, Way, Place, or Terrace to understand different types of streets.
Great value for money. Thank you for sharing.

Such a good deal on that rental! I am looking now around Pattaya and it's all tiny bedsits for 15-18k PM!
1 unit available. www.dotproperty.co.th/en/condo/3002/emerald-palace
@@thepoormanspassportguide Just emailed them. Nice one! Chasing 3 in the area atm! :)
Can you bring guest there? Do they have rooms to rent by the day?
You can bring anyone you want home with you.
The shortest time for a room is a 1 month lease.
That’s a good deal for what you get
Nice place! Can you walk to a baht bus that will take you into central pattaya?
Yes you can. Depending on what soi you're on, I'm on one of the last furthest from the bot bus. Even with that taking a easy slow stroll uphill will do it. I see 5-year-olds to 80-year-olds doing it. So baht bus is no problem.
ARE YOU ON THE 55PLUS RETIREMENT VISA WITH THE 24K DOLLAR BANK DEPOSIT ?
I don't remember numbers but I'm on whatever was required. At 63 I'm definitely on a retirement visa.

Understood. What other areas would you cut back, in your budget?
@ $3000 isn’t a lot so 2 nights out a month, one ST. Use condo gym over membership
@birdDog. Valid point. I am looking for a place now and i think being solo I'd want the best i can and maybe not the cheapest .

IS THE $24K DEPOSIT FOR 55PLUS VISA STILL IN EFFECT ?
I have no idea.
You probably should check the proper authorities on that. Try the Thailand visa website first.
I'm across the street from you at Peak Towers. 12,000/mo for studio but only 31sqm. I have been here for 2 weeks and already ready to leave😅

Emerald Palace Condominium.
Do they offer 1BR condos there? How much per month?@@thepoormanspassportguide
Good 11 dollars a night. Some good restaurants nearby.
Having cooked for decades, it is a new pleasure to never cook again. You enjoy it more, you eat less and energy goes up!
thanks for thr video and info .....an aside though Pattaya is not pronounced ...PAH tire
Well how is it pronounced?
6/12 month lease????
1 year lease.

@thepoormanspassportguide Thank you.
if i am going to live there i need at least 45-55 so can move around and not feel the walls are coming in on you
You've been there a year and still pronounce it "pa-TIE-ah"?
It depends who I'm talking to. I've asked quite a few Thai people to say it for me and it is definitely not what foreigners say, but you probably already know that.
Try "pah-tah-YAA"

Similar confusion after a year in Mexico a few years ago. Way down in Puerto Vallarta and some Mexicans said Mexico and some said ˈMehiko. Whaddyado!
its to expensive for a condo it looks more like 6500B. you sound like the chap giving its good points.
Let me know when you find a hotel or condo in Pattaya for $6 a day. have you ever lived in Pattaya before?
I prefer the gym
Could you be more specific

Soi means street
You don’t sound too clever if a word like Soi gives you problems
Sukhumvit is a long road that stretches from Bangkok to near the Cambodian border & it passes through Pattaya on the way
