    They lost the war, America went in and showed them exactly how to build cars .. They learned and still do it that way. Cheap Trick Went there and broke Japan (Cheap Trick - Ain't That a Shame (from Budokan!) Anyway .. it so much time gone by. Performers did not like playing Japan because the would rock out. the audience was dead quiet and clap after a song, it freaked bands out, the politeness. Cheap Trick broke the silence of the crowd.. Amazing the strength of music.

    I have been listening to them a couple of years and they remind me of Gaharchic Spin they started around 2009 so i think Dirty loops might be influenced by them 😅

    Gacharic Spin is without a doubt the most under-rated of the major all-female japanese rock/metal bands now exploding into the west. Formed by the bassist (F Chopper Koga - the slap master) and Drummer Hana ( who can also play lead guitar) in 2009, they have been through several lineup changes over the years - keyboardist Oreo and guitarist Tomo-zo have been with the band for over a decade, with drummer Yuri (not appearing in this video) and pink-haired singer Angelina 1/3 joining in 2019 - interesting to note that Angelina was only 7 or 8 when the band was first formed... part of the issue is that they are highly experimental and difficult to categorize, so they only have a few songs of each genre to satisfy particular fans... however, their talent and live performances are as amazing as any band out there.... next, you might try "I Wish I" - live or MV, and then the older live version of Hunting Summer

    To me they are the #1 rock band around today (now celebrating 15 years). Fantastic musicians, song writers and performers! They are amazing! Glad you liked it! With Japanese rock & metal you'll see don't play with conventional rules when it comes writing music, they mix in whatever they feel fit...like the jazzy part in this song or traditional Japanese music and scales. I recommend their "I wish I" after this and after that we can go deeper :)

    Thank you very much, DragonPhly for spreading Gacharic Spin here. I haven't seen you recommend them that often, it's certainly appreciated.
    For the rest of my comment:
    The "cha" sound in Gacha is pronounced like the dance ¨cha-cha". I believe it comes from the sound the gachapon machines they have in Japan make (which is also called gacha). Those are a sort of gumball machines where you put in money and get a ball with a price, but you never know what you are going to get. It's somewhat the same with the band in that they have gone through a lot of different iterations over the years (they turned 15 years old this year) and play a lot of different genres of music (a lot of songs have multiple genres combined). Their newer sound with their newest lineup (like this one) tends to be pretty complex, their very early work was more poppy and dancy, but the instrumentalists still had a lot of chops.

      Appreciate the information and the help with the pronunciation! They are incredibly talented and I loved the syncopation work in this one! The bass guitar player really blew my mind with all that slapping and popping! Loved every bit of this tune and thanks for hanging out! Dragon Phly rocks!!! 🤘🏻

    this band was formed in 2009, Dirty Loops' first release album was released in 2014 so no way they knew about them, maybe the opposite can be true lol, Gacharic Spin released original music way before Dirty Loops lol (before 2014 all Dirty Loops did was cover songs)
    The style of this song is influenced by funk and jazz fusion which are styles that were very popular in Japan since the late 70s with City Pop and all the famous j-jazz fusion bands.

    My introduction to GS was a live version of Mindset and at the end, my reaction was similar to yours, "WTF did I just listen to" with a big smile on my face. These women are amazing. That solo was right out of the jazz/rock fusion genre popular back in the 70's. Of course the thing to remember with GS is, expect the unexpected. They are blazing their own path. I would recommend the following for something completely different... *Gacharic Spin - I wish I (Official Live Video) in 豊洲PIT (Lyrics in English)* I never hear of Dirty Loops so just took a listen to "Rock You" and my socks were blown off in the first minute. I can see why you brought this band up as a comparison. I am going to listen to more of them.

    Sorry, if I only hear the sentence, they remind me of XXXX I usually click away. Why don't you just listen to the songs without always thinking, where did I hear that? It may well be that these ladies weren't thinking of these bands. If you understand the music theory of songs in pop/rock/metal, then you can come up with such structures even without knowing the ones you mentioned or taking them as a model. And I think Japanese musicians are better educated than most of us here in the West.

    • @setonhillstudios
      @setonhillstudios  Месяц назад

      Fair opinion. It turns out that Gatharic Spin has been around longer than the band I mentioned so many they were possibly the ones that influenced them. That being said, I was simply making a connection to the “music I know” to understand their composition style a bit better. It was meant more as a compliment to be honest. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Oldmarty
      @Oldmarty Месяц назад

      @@setonhillstudios I didn't understand that you meant that in a negative way ;) You should just get away from the comparisons and let the music sink in without categorising it.
