This video wasn't long bro I loved it!! Guys have toured plants before but nobody has took the time u have to show every step as u have. Don't worry about how long the video is bro your friends are gonna watch it nomatter keep up good work
I bought my first Bass boat last December. 2021 Triton Patriot. Love the boat only problem is I will never buy anything again from Bass Pro. The buying of the boat was a horrible experience. If I ever buy a new one I will buy it from Pro's Choice in the Ozarks.
I used to work for Phoenix Boats in the paint/gel coat department. It’s actually a pretty long process from start to finish but the fact that everything is hands on makes it worth it. Pretty cool they have the big water tub for when the boat is finished
Just curious if you know, when they test the flotation of the boat, is it just the boat or a fully rigged boat, ie 250HP motor, full of gear, full of gas, etc. Is that the type of testing they do ?
@@thatfishingguy11b The pay wasn’t all that great unfortunately. Which honestly I’m still kinda bummed about because I really wanted to work there it just didn’t pay the bills
Awesome video DC! Really glad you went to the factory and gave us this tour. I have a Triton and have only used Triton Boats but had never seen anything like what you did going to the plant! That was superb! Love that's it's all made in the US and so much is still done by hand, makes me feel really good driving around in a Triton! Love that you and J. Wheeler and others all use Triton, awesome boats!!
Great video DC. I know you remember multiple Comments from Cody here in Texas about different boats they put in in on MLF. Great tour of the Triton. Like I said before, the only 1 I rode in was with Terry Scroggins at the Bass Master Memorial Event on Eagle Mountain Lake back on 2008 an it did Great 👍
And I got to geek out on Wheelers boat when Kyle called me and said they were coming to Lanier. He just couldn’t give me details on what things like stringer and transom are made of yet
What an awesome video. Thanks for your time in making it. Very interesting on how they make their boats. This belongs on the Discovery Channel TV show “How It’s Made”
As a used 2004 Triton TR175 owner I can tell you that not having access to the gas tank is a bit of a let down. There is no cleaning of it, nor inspection. Would like to be able to. Especially since the boat design is known for a gas smell in the compartments because of a design flaw of that model where no ports were built in to bleed the fumes. Thank you for the tour though very informative.
Facility built by Legend Boats. Quickly bought out by Johnny Morris along with Ranger boats and a few others. Thank god they didn’t get Bass Cat. Which is just around the corner. Nothing against White River marine and their boat companies. I’ve just been partial to the BCB family.
Awesome video!! I have a 19trx was really cool to see how everything was done!! Looking forward to this year’s season good luck and stay safe out there!
So, top caps "not coming off" isn't entirely true. My brand new 2005 TR-21X Bassmaster Classic boat had a fuel leak. I had just picked it up from the dealer and hit the gas station on the way home. As I was sitting in my culdesac loading all of my gear into the boat, my eyes started watering and I could smell gas. I stepped down off the front deck into the cockpit area and slipped because the gas had puddled in the cockpit floor and ate up the carpet glue, causing the carpet to wrinkle up. I always install the plug the night before I fish so I don't overlook it on the boat ramp. Thankfully I was thinking fast and popped open the rigging compartment and disconnected the batteries before the bilge pump went off and possibly sparked, potentially igniting the entire culdesac! I towed the boat back to the dealer, plug removed, so gas was leaking out, but at 70 mph it really wasn't much but a trickle on the highway during the hour drive. They contacted Triton, and Triton came and picked up the boat and took it back to TN, removed the top cap, and saw that someone had drilled and screwed into the gas tank while installing the seats. they cleaned up all of the gas in the stringer and hull, installed a new gas tank, and reattached the top cap. I got the boat back about three weeks later. All was good, and they called me and told me to email them a list of about $500 worth of Triton stuff I wanted (shirts, hats, sunglasses, rain gear, etc...). A couple weeks later it all showed up in the mail. Boat was great after that, until I sold it about seven years later. So...the top caps DO come off, but I'm sure it wasn't pleasant.

Great video; Lettin' 'em behind the curtain! You never saw Gene and Kim Cleckler's place where they used to build Hurst, then Legend Boats in Clanton? I was fortunate enough to meet Marvin Hurst way back before Gene bought him out and turned it into Legend. Marvin used to race against (and beat) Earl Bentz decades ago, in Florida. Legend (and then Thunderhawk) was a cool facility to see. You're right; most folks don't realize that a boat is built from the outside in. The wax is the very first thing in the mold! Next comes the pin stripes, hull stripes, and then the base color. You have a hull, a hull cap, and stringers. Next comes the foam, then hardware, electronics, and pumps. Lastly, they put it all together and rig it with motors. Ever since '96, all boats must meet USCG floatation standards of zero neutral buoyancy. That means, even with holes in it, it will float. I worked for Don Sumrall back in '88, beside the old stockyard, building Legacy ski boats. It was terrible work back then. Breathing all that fiberglass is awful. You could always tell what color boat I'd been working on by the color of my boogers! I saw you had safety glasses on in the factory. I'd suggest a mask next time. I know it smells good, but that stuff is bad on your lungs! Anyway, I hope you load that boat this year. Go get 'em, son.

I really enjoyed this very detailed look. Looks like a high quality product. The gas tank comment caused me to pause. Is it an advantage to get a boat where the tanks can be pulled out and and put back in without cutting the fiberglass?
Every fiberglass boat is like this. You have to ensure that the top cap cannot come off the hull. You have to seal it so that it essentially becomes one piece. You don’t want to get caught in rough water and have that separate on you.

But after injections and pulling air out do they lamo roll with metal rollers to make sure all air is out? Eliminating air voids. The major problem I’ve seen from Caymas. If it’s white river skeeter caymas or falcon on Lanier and it needs warranty work or gelcoat fiberglass repairs period it came through my old shop before I started just doing details on my own making more money for myself. But I still help my old boss if I’m slow.
The boats there are hand rolled. A skilled chopper gun operator knows the proper thickness to shoot all throughout the boats. Just the small parts are vacuum bagged such as fenders, rod boxes, bait wells, consoles and fiberglass lids.
The way they put their pumps in a wiring in on the top when is sitting upside down and then they put it down inside the hull/bottom cap.. whatever... How can someone who has only had 1 boat manufacturer say they have the best of anything when never owning other brands? Riding in another and using for 1 day can't give you that information. I get that they help pay your bills but guys saying this boat is the best or that boat is the best and then they are in another brand next year and say the same crap doesn't fool anyone anymore.
