Trent not putting effort in to get back isn't just this one game, he's been liable to do this for a while, when we went down to 10 men against Fulham he did the same thing, even under Klopp last season he was jogging around putting in zero effort defensively in some games. I think it's an ego thing.
I'm with you with this one, for me it's an ego thing, he thinks he doesn't need to do these runs like other players maybe bc he feels "different" form the rest so he don't want to do extra work like a "normal" player, then you have Luis Diaz and Gakpo who got no problems to run back and defend if needed.

I was on Trent's side until this game. The level of selfishness he showed by but not trying in this game, told me everything I need to know about how little he respects the Liverpool fans. Liv Vs Man U is pretty much our biggest rivalry. To not show up in it is unforgivable.

Pretty shameful of Liverpool fans, it's clear that people are making up their own narratives about what Trent wants, then using that as ammunition without any evidence that he actually wants to leave. Liverpool fans shouldn't treat any current players like that no matter how bad they play. It's quite clear that Trent doesn't like media attention that much. When everyone in the media was constantly discussing trents defending last season he dropped off a cliff in all aspects of his game. If we just shut up for a minute he might actually play well.

We've been terrific all season. We didn't play well but had 3x the xG as United did. Trent and Robertson were poor and Konate was not up to the pace of the game after returning from injury. United did well and ran their socks off. United should not have won that game a draw to our fiercest rival is never a bad result and we lost no ground on Arsenal at all.
