Being a traveling clock, not only does it have a strike/silent, so you can turn off the hour striking during the night and you can set an alarm but to take it with you, you must be able to lock the pendulum and Daniel Quare has designed a lovely pendulum lock which locks the pendulum into place. If you turn the clock over, you can see the lovely little clip, spring clip, which holds the pendulum when it's traveling but these beautiful little clips, if you look if I open them, they click to release the pendulum and when you lock the pendulum into place again, it will click to hold it like that and then that's the second one, there and so it's now safe to travel. So, now I've released the pendulum, you can just put your finger in underneath and let it swing and it's a very, very quiet tick but you can hear it about 3 beats a second and it's about 4 inches long, 100 mm long, the pendulum.
