I'm 27, and through all my life I heard from family that art is uselss etc., and I'll be better and more valuable person working, for example, in bank, not as an writer, graphic or some other visual artist. Mignonette is a wonderfully fragrant garden plant that was popular for flower gardens in Edwardian and Victorian times. (I learned about it from books written at that time, not from personally being there #notTHATold!). Poor thing lost popularity because it’s not very showy, but it smells divine. Supposedly given its name by Empress Josephine after Napoleon brought her some home after storming around Egypt. She loved it...the name means “little darling”. (There’s also a popular French sauce made with chopped shallots but its much less romantic.)
