I love OPPO and with this one again, it is one of the most comprehensive phones on the market right now. I like the backstep from the FindX2Pro I had before. This slim and easy to use model is more up my alley and Color OS with Android 11 comes closer to the chinese version, which has even more possibilies.
The build of the phone is amazing and Oppo has also ensured the integration of really impressive and efficient especially in terms of the Dimensity 1000+ with large RAM and camera specs.
Josh.. I been following you since android authority. Suggestion only. Make your background brighter, attractive. Its a bit depress? I always like your reviews.
As a pro phone a 12MP Ultra-wide camera and a 8MP 3x telephoto in place of the depth camera would have made it a perfect everyday smartphone for most people complementing the other specs.
With a huge 4,350 mAh battery with a super-fast 65W fast charging, a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor, and a refresh rate of 90Hz, the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G really impresses.
I remember a few years ago when creators were trolling phones that did not have QHD, saying that in 2017, blah, blah, blah! Now, it is a worthy call to make? Makes you wonder if they just promo features for certain brands to sell phones. Neither the absence of 90Hz nor QHD is a deal-breaker for me, and never have been, both gimmicks, but I would prefer QHD if I had the choice as I do not play games or fast scroll through the UI or apps. 99.9% of laptops do not have high-refresh displays so having it on phones looks like another way to tempt the teen market to upgrade. This looks like another solid Android phone in a sea of solidity. I would have to say the smartphone market is very mature and that most phones over $500 are sufficient for the average consumer and phones costing less are not far away either. It is hard to rise above the crowd and the Reno5 Pro does not do that.
They've been using the 8MP ultrawide for forever now and it's just not that good compared to the 16MP that other companies like Xiaomi, OnePlus use. I'm using the Reno 10x Zoom and will be exchanging it for the Reno 5 Pro but the lack of stereo speakers, good haptic motor will be felt throughout its use.
The Reno5 with a Snapdragon 720G is better. The other one (Reno F) is MediaTek and MediaTek devices (Tecno, Infinix, iTel etc) are not a great choice when choosing great smartphones. Some people are tricked with Camera. What about smartphones apart from the OS itself, are processor and core CPU strength; the architecture; the screen technology; and then the battery strength. Camera/Selfie this and that are just marketing gimmicks. Even a phone with a minimal 8megapixel camera can still capture breathtaking images. When choosing a new device the most important things I look out for are as follows: 1. The OS (iOS/Android. If Android, at least must be Android 10 and above) 2. The RAM/ROM (4GB and above for RAM; and 64GB and above for ROM) 3. Processor (Snapdragon, Adreno, HiSilicon (if Huawei) but never MediaTek) 4. Battery (preferably 5000MAmph) 5. Screen/Display (Gorilla Glass, Amoled) 6. Network (4G+ LTE (or 5G depending)) I hardly bother about the camera on the phone.
@@jvtechtea yup. I actually didn't realize that the Pro version was running the Mediatek one until i check the specs. Hopefully this trend will continue. Similar to AMD laptops.
For me, it's a bit pricey here in my country. The Reno 4 Pro 5G has a better camera specs than this one too. Hope you could review the 4 Pro 5G and compare it to the 5 Pro 5G. Nevertheless, Oppo has up their game on the midrange level and somehow giving us something to be excited. Also, it looks somehow like the rumoured Oneplus 9. Great job Josh and keep safe!
Shifted from One UI to ColosOS made me realized how lighter Oppo's OS is
Feels like this phone might become a future OnePlus device.
The same company produces both oppo and one plus... Oppo is always announced and released a few month before op they are like lab mouses
The new one plus device is going to be released with dimensity 1200 processor.
I think this would be the cheaper version of the OnePlus 9 series or like the Nord
*Now it finally made sense why Oppo call it Colour OS, even the phone is colourful now lol*
UI is also colourful with so many customisations!
I Just pre ordered mine, and I am so excited ❤

I noticed that u use the Google Fi. I will love a video about your opinion on Google Fi and if is worth it🤔🙏🏽
I think I did one over at Android Authority with David - it was quite a while ago though. Love Google Fi still!
@@jvtechtea Thanks For telling us.🙏🏽💪🏽Right away to see it.
Hey Joshua how are you? There was a time when you were no longer doing reviews.. but now you came back! Great to see you again man!
Trust me I just love the design of this phone. I wish prices will dropped down in India
Right. This smartphone has all the features that would impress the buyers. Especially the Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ chipset is really awesome.
In my country, reno is way more expensive than the xiaomi 10T series. So, not very popular.
The build of the phone is amazing and Oppo has also ensured the integration of really impressive and efficient especially in terms of the Dimensity 1000+ with large RAM and camera specs.
Hey Josh! Will the Oppo Reno 5 Pro 5G work on Verizon in the US?
The back design looks great with that texture and color! Looks like the Note10+ Aura Glow
This one surely seems like a good addition to the 5G segment especially with the Dimensity 1000+ chipset
I have oppo reno 1st oppo reno..with pop up camera... till now still have...
Josh.. I been following you since android authority. Suggestion only. Make your background brighter, attractive. Its a bit depress? I always like your reviews.
Woaah. Before Color OS is a heavy skin. Now it's more lighter now. That's great!
Yeah, from plain shit to something that was really good.
Does ColorOS have constant ads like MIUI?
Miss your android authority days josh! Thank you for your reviews ❤️❤️
Love colour it's really beautiful so are the cameras. The dimensity 1000+ processor is brilliant
I really love the cameras and the Mediatek Dimensity 1000+ chipset that it comes with
Hi, I do love your review. Btw can you make a comparison of oppo reno 5 5g and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5g? Thanks ☺️
does it work for US mobile carriers like at&t/tmobile/straightalk? thank you.
The RAM and battery along with the integrated Mediatek Dimensity processor are great additions
Oppo Smartphone ang prefer dito ng mga friends ko maganda daw pang selfie 🤳🏼
the camera is a bummer
@@ubecheesepandesal what you would prefer? Vivo V20 pro or Oppo reno 5 pro?
For Selfie Camera Vivo V20 Pro, this phone won Indian Gadget Awards 2020 for Best Selfie Smartphone while Iphone 12 Pro Max is the runner up...

ColorOS 11! 🤩🤩🤩

The phone looked good until you showed those cameras. Give me a good sensor instead of four mediocre ones.
I wish more android phones could get more updates like Google. So many dope phones
How's the curve ? Same as S20+ ???
I am a music lover... so I am expecting some review on how it sounds,,, does it supports dholby digital etc
Is this any good... Would you buy this instead of the S21 Ulthra??
If you don't have budget, this phone is so worth it. However, s21 ultra is the flagship king 😍
Oppo did it. They've made a breakthrough. The price is mid range but the stock specs are flagship level
the oppo find x2 pro is one of the best designed phones ever... seriously who would have thought orange would look good on a phone
wow..Detailed review.. love it @Joshua Vergara
