I love all your videos! You're my fave INTJ RUclipsr for sure. It's true - as an ENFP I'm quite fascinated by INTPs for example, because I love how their minds work! I had a 4 year relationship with an INTP but I find mimicking Ti quite hard. Like I don't even get it. No matter how much I read about it I still don't totally understand what it is, just that it seems kind of magical. hahaha I also dated a guy I think was an ISFJ...the Si was admirable! I loved how his environment was always a tranquil, clean, cozy place with just the right lighting, ambient music and gentle essential oils wafting in the air. He seemed to be able to maintain that all the time. He always complained about the lights in my apartment, saying they were too glaring. I didn't even notice that before he said it! Although it's definitely still not a strength, I've gotten much better at taking care of my space and creating that peaceful quality. If only the other Si traits like consistency would develop, that would be nice, but I'm working on it without being too constricting. No idea about Ti though...doesn't seem to negatively affect my day to day life perhaps in the way being Fe blind could due to social pressures? Except I really hate getting into any intellectual debate. Hard life with an ENTP father. :-| Just some rambles here. Make more videos!

Love this channel - guaranteed learning every time. Offtopic but want to raise point with my fellow INTj people. Was walking my dog yesterday and it occurred to me that our group is most at risk for future being displaced by AI for scenario planning/ big picture topics. The stuff we do well. Our stock price goes down as AI improves. We need to band together now to develop strategies while the genie is still in the bottle. The AI will be coming for us first. I’m only partially joking.

The Concept of the „Toolbox“ is really incredible and has been my self improvement strategy for about a year now. The worst thing to do is to get yourself comfortable in your „own stereotype“, e.g. „I am an INTJ, so I am Bad at SE“ and just externalize your weaknesses for that reason. Being Bad at SE is a fact but never an excuse. I obsess over this, because being Ni-dominant but also being able to state things in a concrete way (Not only abstract concepts and thoughts, which was my weakness) like SE can, is a very powerful combination. For me, it worked out really well in my work environment as I could persuade a wider Range of people with this. But also in The private context or anywehere else where socializing is needed, developing SE is very useful in regards to doing smalltalk, which will be always a necessity in my life (Fake it til you make it, as you stated, Lindsay). Thanks for your great Content as always, this helps alot in reflecting.
Third edit, was too excited about this Toolbox-Concept.
So, this is a perfect approach in Order to rationalize your weaknesses. It prevents you from falling into the trap of the stereotype-comfort-zone and also states a clear vision of what you actually want to achieve, which is what I always need to have in mind *for everything* I do (which also makes things sometimes more complicated)

I finally realized that one reason people tell me boring ass stories (to me) that I don't even care about but might be mildly relevant somehow to the situation we are in, is that they are just trying to connect and don't know what I may or may not find interesting. So if I like them, it's optimal to treat it as a connection-oriented social experience, rather than a story with an end of its own (which it has none and therefore sucks and is boring.)

one thing occurred, and i hear it said from time to time about Fe is that they know what others want. I have long suspected that they may or may not know in actuality. BUT are convinced they know. And have that conviction to carry through on that commitment. I have modelled this, and presented the behaviour - and it gets the responses, as observed. THEN... because it "isnt me", when the person im being present with goes "deep", i feel like confessing, "actually, im not the person you need"... and that puts me in a quandary. And the end of the day, as INTJ myself, i just dont care and dont want to know about the bullshit!! I have enough self-generated crap to last a lifetime! So, how do you get over this - (that you have "passed" as an Fe, into a situation that is sub-optimal for INTJ skills) Im kinda learning to not go there and to apply to other realms...?

I'm an INTJ-A with a lot of social experience. Founded clubs, joined startups talked to conferences and seminars ... In short, I now can be quite outgoing and, let's say pleasing to be with ?
The only problem that remains is ... stamina, so the introversion part, I still don't know what to do with that. The problem is that sometimes it just falls on you in the middle of a "hanging out" session like a big fat sign that says "you need to get out of here before your mask cracks and your true face shows". In this part if I was another type of introvert it would be okay, but you know when an INTJ is tired, some feelings are bound to get hurt.
Otherwise, observing and deducing, making a whole database of behavior and words is something I do from middle school to this very day, so it was an INTJ thing to begin with ? Didn't know.

Fi + Ne is good at figuring out people's motives. For example, someone compliments you that they are really happy with your performance, but you feel they just said that to be polite or out of pity, because you didn't think it went that well. But they might have meant it. You could use Te to check if your feeling is correct. Look at their behavior like a detective: is this a person who always gives compliments out of politeness, or only when that is justified? Is there another possible reason why this person said they were happy? Could something else have coloured their opinion of your performance? Maybe did you judge your performance too harshly, because you were in a bad mood?

@@floranova7565 oh yeah that's true, I almost always ask for the negative feedback rather than asking for what they like because their response is more authentic and don't take their criticism personal when I use Te. If I do get offended, which is unlikely, I know I'm using Fi.

So that doesn't serve me any purpose. I don't do self destructive behavior just for the sake of fitting in. I don't fit in so I have just become ok with it. Feelings are also one of my biggest weaknesses. I try really hard to express them but it also drains me to exhaustion. When I am upset about something it is also like taking sleeping pills. This has been an interesting one, as it's quite a lesson in chameleonism. It's odd because the behaviors you describe are basically theatre to comfort the other person. If event X then action block Xa, probable response is positive (X+Xa=1). The tough part is keeping the present face when the cause of the other person's distress is something that we find completely stupid. And sometimes the lesson is "DO NOT DO THIS.". :)

    Hi LJ,
Your first sentence after the intro is so valuable. Because that´s what typology is. A tool for growth and understanding of observable patterns in human personality.
I would like to know the following:
    - Have you done research on the big 5 personality traits?
=> if so what is your viewpoint on them and my following statement?
I have observed that the big 5 are more well defined and closer to the core dimensions of human psychology. The 16 or 512 types of mbti/objective personality are a specific [but open to a certain deviation for each dimension] combination of these 5 traits.
The 8 cognitive functions are also a combination of these 5 traits and their distribution along the measurable scale of deviation. But still we can work quite well with the patterns behind this combination of traits in form of the functions because they are the most common combinations and work to a satisfying degree.

    • @andreagreenwood93
      @andreagreenwood93 4 года назад +1

The way the test is structured, big 5 has much more negative or positive connotations. Here's a desirable quality, you either have it more or less. Myers Briggs places characteristics as a dichotomy opposed to each other...if you don't have these quality, then you have these others instead. Looking at the moderate correlation between the 2 systems, an ENFJ would be the perfect person in our society according to the Big 5, because they have these desirable qualities. But Big 5 leaves out so many opposing qualities.

Where do you go if you want to be typed by professionals using the 512 scale? I know online tests aren’t the most accurate, but I’ve always gotten INTJ on them and as I’m learning deeper about this type I am interested to be typed accurately by professionals.

What books would you recommend to learn about this stuff for an INTJ with dyslexia? Used this site applymagicsauce.com/demo to find my type. Somebody who suffered a lot of harsh criticism in school and never really had good guidance or direction in life. I'm currently reading Ray Dalio's principles but a lot of it goes over my head. I read Carol Dweck's growth mindset and that really got me focused on improving myself and my situation. Planning on reading the road to character and the power of habit. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you think we are not capable of it? Can’t we develop both intuition functions? For example, cause I think we can do it with every other function. How are you sure you don't use these functions? People always used to say, that something couldn't be done and look...

    • @InternetLiJo

I have certain spots I always put my keys so I don’t lose them in the first place. If I didn’t have these systems in place I would waste so much time trying to find them because Im less aware of the physical world around me.

@@InternetLiJo Exactly. I know my patterns so I'll look in places I always put them first. This goes into my theory on how you say we simulate functions we don't have. In the case of losing them(not being in my normal spots). In some cases I've found the method of retracing my steps through memory more helpful than thinking of where they might be. I'm curious if it's possible to simulate a different organizing function.

I don't understand this topic. If everyone has blind spots then why should I consider these weaknesses that need to be worked on and improved? Don't we already have the ability to communicate with everyone? Do I really need to know the root cause of everyone's point of view, especially if these people are all wrapped up in their feelings? Isn't that obvious? Do I really need to be able to communicate with emotional people on an emotional level? I wouldn't do that. It's too exhausting and I just don't see the benefits. But I admit I need to study this personality typology stuff a lot more beyond the basic level. Thanks.
