I've got an antique book store (currently just online) that's been my side hustle for several years now, and it's paid my bills. It's awesome having it because I get to work on all the other things I'm trying to get started! It pays for letting me get into agriculture and everything else too. For the few hours that it takes a month, it's the best thing I've done to date!
We are still starting out and selling our first beef this month which will put us back even on start up costs. One of the side hustles is farm sitting specializing in livestock. Also work a part time public job which also puts us in contact with other customers and farmers in our area.
Your positive personality is very refreshing and inspiring. God has blessed you for your hard work, I'm so happy for you and your family. Love from Kentucky. 💖🙏🏻✝️
Honestly…. 4 videos in…. And Learned MORE from you than 20 other RUclipsrs on this subject. THANKS FOR REALLY Sharing Tips, Tricks, Tools of the Trade etc!!!! Seriously, thank you! Spread the word people, THIS is WHO you NEED to FOLLOW…..absolute necessity.
What general location are you for future livestock purchases (generally). As I am in western North Carolina. Secondly, how many sheep would you run on 10 acres so I could use the answer as a multiple so an average is just fine. Finally well done! Looking forward to your book!
great thoughts. reminds me of conversations with my 87 year old grandfather who still farms. you'll have many irons in the fire and if you diversify, you'll be ok. some years the pigs do as well as the cattle, then the cattle cover the hogs. he was a pastor, blacksmith, farrier, you name it and he did it. i often find myself following in his footsteps with my own multiple irons in the fire as a therapist, farmer and other side hustles that get me into trouble :P
This is by far is the better of the “Homesteading/Small Farm” channels. You disclose enough detail to see that it is a functional business. Other channels that claim to be “Homesteaders” that are wildly popular are nothing but a reality show, the animals are little more than pets and they function completely as an entertainment channel, making all of their income as Producers of their channel and the merchandising that goes with it. They would not otherwise be viable as farmers or ranchers or craftsmen. It is in a lot of ways dishonest. They are just influencers. This looks and feels real. Keep up the good work.
So glad I stumbled upon your RUclips channel!! Just ordered your book!🎉 We are in the process of buying land in NC and can't wait to get some livestock on it. Good luck to you with all of your endeavors. You are quite inspiring!!
It is really hard to start farming, and really hard to keep farming. Our sheep continue to multiply, and we gradually branch out. All economic headwinds against us. Hay prices crashed. But demand for goats and sheep continues!
Farming doesn’t work for many who do their research and the Lord doesn’t mandate for the righteous people to all live rurally, and that’s even if you read all of Revelatjon. We don’t miss the unnecessary stresses and problems that come with homesteading or farming or gardening.
Hi! I have a 3 acre podock for my sheep. We live near the beach in sunny qld Australia. and our "soil" is more like sand. Do I have any hope turning my paddocks into pasture and how can I go about this as quickly as possible? Thanks!!.
It's frustrating that you started this saying that you can make so much off of sheep and now you have basically said that you don't make that much with sheep so you should delete your sheep video I got sheep because of your videos and I can't sell them
Hey, I’m sorry but your comment sounds really bitter. I don’t want you to have those feelings toward me, but I have to say this: #1: my messaging has always been for people to think for themselves, find their market first, and start small. There’s very little risk involved if this method is followed. #2: My sheep operation and revenues YOY are growing according to plan. It’s through diversifying that I’ve been able to meet income goals in a shorter period of time (3yrs vs. 7). I hold tightly to my evaluations on sheep vs. cow profitability. I just made the decision to downsize my cow herd, but retain all of my sheep for the reasons stated in previous videos. I really appreciate your comment. I am sad you felt the need to express such frustration, but am grateful you gave me the chance to respond :).
Yes l hear it crickets are awesome they produce a sound that is uniquely unidirectional meaning you can't trace its location from the sound a super successful survival strategy

❓Do you have a side hustle (or hobby that could become one)? Tell me in the comments!👇🏻
Looks like hiring myself out for custom farming pretty soon. I know other small farmers like me. Where goes one, goes all.
I had a market garden 2 years ago and some chickens. Now I farm meat birds and some veg on the side. A complete 180°

I’ve heard bad stories like that. But it can’t stop you from continuing to move forward. 🐑
I have been rearing goats for last five years but now I m bringing sheeps after listening you but I m not abandoning goats.
