    The Easter in Sweden is actually quite different from one family to an other, not everyone go on the egg hunts. The food is usually potatoes, salmon, sill and pies and then everyone have their unique dishes that they do. A other thing that kids usually do is dressing up as a påskkärring which by old stories is witches that are riding on their brooms on their way to Blåkulla. The kids go from house to house (I used to make easter cards and hand out) giving small gifts and receive a thank in form of candy.

    Hi! I’m swedish and I really like watching your videos but when you do videos about swedish traditions I think you need to say that traditions varies depending on the family you celebrate with. Because otherwise people will think “ah, that’s the swedish way of doing it” and they will think we all do it the same way. The family you celebrated with has totally different traditions than my family has for example. Don’t be discouraged though, just think about it when you do this kind of videos.

    Next Easter keep a look out for påskkärringar ... lovely tradition for kids!

    The ice is probably just fine. Ice cracks even if it's really solid, because there are always shifts due to wind, more freezing, people walking etc etc.
    With that said, it's definitely good to be cautious during this time of year when you're on the ice. The melting/freezing it goes through weakens it.

      Definitely, I thought it was pretty safe but I like to be extra careful just in case!

    My aunt is great at Easter egg hunts. She usually creates different maps, and you get the first one, which lead to a second map with a different location. Sometimes there is also a riddle/clue about the location, and the amount of maps you have to find before you find the egg depends on your age

    What is your favourite thing about Sweden?

  • @SmokeyMcHash
    @SmokeyMcHash 6 лет назад +2

    According to my own experience "crackling ice" is a good thing. It means that the Ice "water" has nowhere to go and starts to cravk instead of expanding.
    At this point the ice ain`t gonna getany thicker, at most points

    ''Max'' is Sweden's best burger place, go try it out if you haven't already!
    Also try if McDonald's is better than Max's burgers.

    I really enjoy the city wide egg hunts that different companies usually do around Easter that's a lot of fun. I also enjoy the different pagan stuff accompanied with Easter. you should try that if you get the chance.

    I lived in Western Sweden as a kid and we didnt do any egg hunt att all. My family bought a big Easter egg and filled it with candy of all sorts and that was placed for all to eat from. What we did was draawing Easter letters that you needed to fold in a special way and then we put a few candies in each letter. Then we diquised our selves as "Påskkäringar" which basicly is a witch that every easter flew to "Blåkulla" to visit the Devil- All according to the old legend. We then run around to all our friends and threw the easter letters on their staircase and quickly run away not to be recogniced. Was a lot of fun. Other easter traditions we had was firecrackers and a lot of them and also a big bonfire. Both these traditions was made to scare off all the witches. So you see not evrything in Sweden is like Stockhom. :)

    The easter egg hunt is very different from family to family. We all have different traditions. In my family we have always done the easter egg hunt more like you described it from the U.S.

    You forgot to mention that we have a Swedish tradition at Easter that is somewhat similar to trick-or-treating, where children dress up as old women and old men and go around the neighbourhood, knocking on doors and receiving treats or money.

      That is really individual tho.. me and one of my sister's did it as children. But my other siblings didn't. And I don't know anyone who does it anymore.

    I'm gonna move from Holland to Sweden end of this year so excited!!!! It's so much fun watching your video's! Maybe a weird question but: Did you also get the personal identity number in Sweden? And if you did, was it difficult to get it? I've been doing some research and it seems quite difficult :/ Because you need a job and all that. I did hear that when your girlfriend or boyfriend lives in Sweden and they can prove that they can support you financially you get the number as well. Do you know if that's true?
