The I am ME video advocacy project aims to arouse public concern about the bullying of
school students because of their sexual orientation and gender identity through the use of
individually created videos to inspire confidence and provide support to our viewers. It is
also expected to support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students in accepting their own identities.
Our goals overlap with the well-known "It Gets Better" Project ( www.itgetsbette...
) that has become a worldwide movement, inspiring more than 50,000 user-created videos
viewed more than 50 million times, but will be focused on our community in Hong Kong.

    我的生活中沒多受到別人的欺凌,相反,很多壓力是自己給予自己的,我亦不感好過。這片中,周耀輝的說話很暖,很感人,謝謝﹗

This happens here in Canada as well. I feel like a lot of people in the older generations can not grasp how intense bullying can be now for the younger generation.
In North America, kids grow up without growing thick skin. Everyone gets a prize, win or lose. So when the time came for the kids that have social issues to find a social niche, they couldn't.
Also, it's not as easy as: turn off your cellphone, delete facebook, uninstall whatsapp, leave twitter. Social media is their world now, it follows them and thus so does the bullying. It's a complicated matter but this video is taking a much needed step into an ever growing problem.
Thank you for having this message in this anti-bullying campaign.

I can't see why an understanding of bullying would be a generational thing. It's not as if bullying was invented in 2006.

Or simply a lack of proper discipline. For example "zero tolerance" adopted in most US schools punish the bully and the victim, especially if the victim fights back. Zero tolerance shouldn't be an automatic suspension either. Rewarding bullies with time off of school? Combined with no child left behind... they don't even have to really pass the competency tests to advance in school. In my "day" which really wasn't terribly long ago, we had Saturday school and in school suspension that were used in place of outright suspensions, reserving that for only the most serious of cases.
Lyrics, tv shows and movies... all that junk that you just need to really have a thick skin to. It's entertainment and will be offensive to at least some people out there. It's ignorant to judge yourself to the standards of what you hear in what is by definition entertainment. But people also can't simply allow themselves to be victims either. A bully thrives on the weak. On social media, yes there is a block button that can and should be used. There are also technologies available to block the creation of new accounts on those sites even from different machines and identities; it's actually really creepy but awesome tech I had a chance to work with while at Amazon.
But while I can say yes a victim does need to take a stand too, they also need support as well. Parents in denial, lack of tough laws to crack down on this nonsense do not help them at all. Then you have the heartbleeding types that believe a bully shouldn't have his/her life ruined over childish things. Nevermind the lifelong damage these bullies can inflict on people, right? Bullying definitely isn't a generational thing but I don't believe the problem is much "worse" as it is just more apparent with the advent of social media at our fingertips.

I am happy to see movements like this occurring around the world. The less chance that people tomorrow go through what I did in my past, the better (I am lucky to have survived the type of bullying I endured). I like that this approach uses the "you aren't alone" and "we are here for you" method, rather than the focus being on the bullies - it is instead focused on learning to be strong, to stand tall, and to develop the tools to overcome such obstacles. Hats off, and I look forward to seeing what impact this movement has as time goes on. May it continue to be a success.

I was bullied throughout, from G1 to G12! I'm streight, was involved with sports and still was bullied. There was no escape, and the teachers (who are supposed to protect their students) did absolutely nothing about it. I have very harsh thoughts towards bullies. They, and/or their parents (depending upon age) deserve criminal records for life! For the bullies ruin lives, their lives should be likewise ruined! I have absolutely no love, nor compassion for bullies! Whatever "hardships" they encounter in their lives is nothing compared to what they wrought upon their victims.

I spent my middle school years getting bullied, and I bullied someone too...i feel so ashamed, and it's because I've been in both places, all my life i've struggled with my body and self esteem issues, I was 12 when the bullying happened and i'm 21 now so you think I would've forgotten it all but it still hurts, I wonder too now if that other person feels the same way

I don't like this message of "it's not your problem or your fault". I used to be horribly bullied in gradeschool. For the last 10ish years I've studied human behaviour, sexuality, and social dynamics. Part of the problem IS the victim's fault precisely because they act like a victim! And I can see that very clearly in my own behaviour as a child.
Part of the problem is that we teach kids "violence is not the answer" or "you never hit first" or "only defend yourself". The kids who do the bullying know this, and use it to their advantage, and what it all comes down to is social dominance, which is directly related to mate selection.
If I were to "fix" the problem of bullying, it would start with the "victims" of bullying, and I would teach them about human behaviour, why people bully, why they allow themselves to be bullied, and I would also teach them things like Sarcasm, and how to deal with insults, how to stand your ground. We need to allow kids to be able to stand up for themselves.

That's called "blame the victim" mentality. I think you need to do a lot more studying. Here's a clue: There's no such thing as "acting like a victim." Regardless of what YOUR perception might be.

That's called "dig your head in the sand" mentality. I think you need to do a lot more studying on human behaviour, evolution, and social dynamics. Here's a clue; when people act like victims, they get treated like victims because men and women compete for sexual reproduction against others of their sex. Regardless of what YOUR perception might be, there is human behaviour generated over millions and millions of years of evolution and you are not acknowledging that, and assuming there is some magical land where if people "just got along" then it would all be better.

That all sounds well and good, but sometimes you are subjected to superior physical (or just rhetorical) force, and cannot fight back. I remember the kid with a developmental condition trying to fight back against Chris Zich and his cronies, and only looking silly as a result, and allowing them to manouver him into position as the kid who is "in the wrong."
What's more, Zych and his friends conceived of themselves as righteous - they were an example of people using force to "right a wrong", or thinking that they were, when what they really did was consistently humiliate an already alienated fellow pupil.

you actually sound like a bully yourself. victims are not to be blamed. the blame is in the bully, the parents of the bully and people like you.
and also kids who are bullied don't have friends who stand up for them , what we need to do is make kids understand that standing up to the bully and talking to the kid instead of blaming that kid.

Yes bullying means that your siblings get rough treatment and then coz you're different again your kids - that was the worst of it and believe you me as the mother I was mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But when I met the child doing it - in summer with a long sleeved T-shirt and long pants, underneath the child itself was black and blue... so twas only repeating what was being done to it!!!
