Am I the only person who consistently gets chills at 2:07? It sounds like Jon getting tickled and stabbed to death at the same time. And the bloody hand print? Holy shit.
Keven Pangus That's your opinion, but I'm from Sacramento & I appreciated it. I don't think it ruined anything, all their songs are epic...it's motherfucking DGD bro 😉
August 6th by mewithoutYou features the awesome line “does it feel wrong to say a thought metastasize?”. Aaron, their vocalist, is a freaking literature genius who writes the best lyrics I know. His are so freaking deep and rich of references that you need an analysis to understand what he means; but when you get it, it all cones together soooooo well.
I'll just copy-paste my reply here.. to me the song is means: Man vs society. It forces an individual to align onto the grid. 2:08, the pressure built insanity(muffled screaming effect), finally the clean vocals arise, The acceptance speech. The last clean singing is devastating.. It's impractical to explain every line, but think about it.
Cyril Madamba dude even 8 years ago they where onto singularity. dgd trips me tf out. every song just sings to me they just speak to me!! I dont know what id do if no one could articulate what I feel for me, they do this shit.
@Bryant Field : Wil Swan raps, "Doubling down on all of the clowns trying to remake DBM." Their first album was critically acclaimed and helped cement a sound they feel hasn't been touched by bands since.
This used to be my least DGD song, but after a few more listens, it's another beautiful creation that I can enjoy along with DGD's other masterpieces. ^-^
Dance Gavin Dance. Masters of melody. The layering of Tilian's voice in the last two minutes is absolutely beautiful. STOKED about Acceptance Speech. October 8th, hurry up and get here!
TBH, I never liked Tilian in the beginning. Mostly because I couldn't wrap my head around how different the vocal style was from Jonny & Kurt; DGD sounded like a new band. It might not be the old stuff I fell in love with, but I'm starting to really like Tilian on clean vocals. Horay for Jon Mess tho. He was always the best. I guess I'm like Will Swan and Matt Mingus, I'm adapting to the vocalist. They're totally the glue that holds DGD together.
Tilian is the most polarizing part about this band as well. Whomever I show them to, they always comment on the vocals. "Too high" or "Wow this guy is great" constantly. It took me some getting used to his high, but weirdly gravelly sound as well - it's indeed tough to wrap your head around, I've never heard a voice like his before. After a year or so of consistently listening to them though, it clicked and now it just love him in the band and wouldn't wanna miss him.
Anyone else feel like they're going to cry as soon as Tilian starts to sing "I'm the one, I'm the one..." This song is just so much. It's beyond explaining.
"So what I'll die alone all right" - 'Acceptance Speech', Dance Gavin Dance "I want the answer. I want the cure for dying alone!" - 'Chemical Fires', Tides of Man Erm...Tilian?
Chemical fires came out first. He could have a came to a conceding point already. Anyway, it's normal to feel bad from time to time.. when the artist feels the ups of life again who knows he might make a song for hope :)
I've been listing to dgd since the demos and surprise I'm from Cuba and this kills so hard. Tilian and will doing both endings are breathtaking with the subject matter
Happened to me too. I didn't like any of the singers until Tilian came in. I feel like him and Mess have waaaay better lyrical chemistry than Mess did with any of the others - he sounds more in sync with Tilian. You can't deny the fact that their success has skyrocketed since he joined, especially with Mothership's release.
In my opinion, the best way to describe Tilian's voice is addictive. You'll find yourself second guessing it at first, but then begin to hum along with his parts with the third or fourth listen. Kinda tough to judge an entire cd with one listen and reading RUclips comments.
I swear the way Will and Jon lead this band, not to mention the others is amazing no matter what changes they are always on point and I can't wait till they release the Secret band Album!
Jon Mess (The unclean vocalist) just puts words together that sound good. Most of their songs don't have any meaning at all. It's all about feel, man. :)
Man vs society. It forces an individual to align onto the grid. 2:08, the pressure built insanity(muffled screaming effect), finally the clean vocals arise, The acceptance speech.
I am listening to the two songs released on repeat until the album is out! Way stoked and super impressed so far. Tilian is the man! When he left Tides of Man, I hoped DGD would pick him up. I was like a kid getting an N64 for christmas when I found out. Truly appreciate the bands work. Every album they put out exceeds my expectations.
There's only one solution: divorce. Ruining meaningful songs is on par with asking a man who has the beard of Zeus to shave it off... Not that I have one, just saying.
Not since Sufferer and the Witness. Tim changed his vocal style and pretty much everyone agrees they kind of went to shit after that. It's like when Papa Roach's vocalist switched over to straight pop-like singing... yeah, they both still release albums and make money but their prevalence and popularity took a nose dive pretty swiftly.
I just got into this band, and I hated them before. My friends would listen to it and all I would hear when they played it was the jumbled up jazz messes or whatever in some of their songs, and the screaming, terrible screaming. Recently I heard a few full songs and I have to say, Tilian has an incredible voice. It changed my opinion on this band completely. I even went back and listened to some of their older stuff. Tilian in my opinion is probably their best thing that ever happened to this band. A personal thought from me though, this band would sound SO much better if they just dropped the other vocalist. Just Tilian's clean vocals throughout their music, and I could listen to it all day every day. JUST A THOUGHT THOUGH, DON'T GO GET BUTTHURT OVER IT.
So, almost one day on and I am completely enamoured with this song, the differences (for want of a better word) that I had with this track yesterday have almost entirely disintegrated.
I am falling in love with you guys all over again. Thank you for the time you spend making beautiful music which enriches my life. DGD till the day I die.
Tilian you're vocals are a different style and people are resilient to change. I, for one, absolutely loved you in Tides of Man and probably more in Dance Gavin Dance, as well as your solo work.
Let's be honest, guys. DGD always has a new line up (usually the vocalist changes) for every new album they come out with and they're still always fucking awesome with their new unique vocalists. Give Acceptance Speech a chance, the band as a whole has always released awesome songs.
Appreciate the sound they don't have to please your specific taste in music there are way to many sounds. this band has had a great sound since the beginning and I hope they keep surprising they're true fans with such great music. Stoked about the new album keep it up guys dgd for life
The "I am not afraid" refrain is quite hypnotizing
+Kris Owens agreed
I agree, I noticed it was the most replayed portion of the song. Herpes.
The outro is one of the most beautiful things these guys have done.
I think Man of the Year might top it though.
Can't hate on this outro though. The rapping was kind of unnecessary but the lead up was incredible.
Yeah, the intro is amazing!
The outro of evaporate is a masterpiece
If you mean the Will Swan part then you are gravely mistaken
What the fuck is he talking about though?
That ending is beautiful...
Mike Shinoda?
Seriously? It's Will Swan [their awesome lead guitarist]... and personally, I'm pissed they let him do that to the end of this song.
What's the deal with the end of the song?
Until Will ruins it.
Hollywood undead?
“I’m the one, I’m the one with my hands around the gun. I am not afraid; I am not afraid.” This line is almost gross how good it is.
Who thinks this song is great?
I DO I DO
Samuel Blenke I l love you for that
Who thinks this album is fire I do I do
went from ok to completely slaps after like 3 listens.
I love how crazy everything gets at 2:07 and then how calm and soothing the guitar plays at 2:15
LanDope thats what DGD is known for😂
It's so different, and fresh. I love how DGD is able to swing the mood, like at 2:17. Seriously, every song they make is a rollercoaster ride.
RIP Tim. You were a blessing to us all.
"The crack on the staircase I smoked out of boredom"....
Well we've all been there, right?
Perfectly relatable experience
Am I the only person who consistently gets chills at 2:07? It sounds like Jon getting tickled and stabbed to death at the same time. And the bloody hand print? Holy shit.
lol I get the chills too. I love it!
So the lyrics get really deep then all of a sudden "Bitch best be home by 10 curfew bitch" wtf 😂
It's a shout out to where they're from, the 916. There is curfew if ur under 18 lol
Keven Pangus That's your opinion, but I'm from Sacramento & I appreciated it. I don't think it ruined anything, all their songs are epic...it's motherfucking DGD bro 😉
I’d expect nothing less from the band that also brought us “don’t be tardy for my leaky Barbie TV party pee in the park.”
That's Mess for ya 😂
Apparently DGD are going back into the studio this fall to record an album for 2015. Get stoked!!
Fuck yea! Can't wait
They also released one song from Acceptance Speech B-Sides :D
Ha it's 2017 and I have not been dissapointed by them yet! Hopefully never.
I heard there going in the studio for DGD 9. Get stoked!
Congrats on getting the word 'metastasize' into your lyrics
August 6th by mewithoutYou features the awesome line “does it feel wrong to say a thought metastasize?”.
Aaron, their vocalist, is a freaking literature genius who writes the best lyrics I know.
His are so freaking deep and rich of references that you need an analysis to understand what he means; but when you get it, it all cones together soooooo well.
Tilian is killin' it.
The anticipation for this album.. man.
That's will swan their guitarist, the same guy who rapped on happiness and DTBM2.
Damnnn, didn't know you liked dgd!!
Wow, it's cool seeing you here.
I'll just copy-paste my reply here.. to me the song is means:
Man vs society. It forces an individual to align onto the grid. 2:08, the pressure built insanity(muffled screaming effect), finally the clean vocals arise,
The acceptance speech.
The last clean singing is devastating..

Cyril Madamba dude even 8 years ago they where onto singularity. dgd trips me tf out. every song just sings to me they just speak to me!! I dont know what id do if no one could articulate what I feel for me, they do this shit.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST LOVES YOU AND SO DO I
i love how they make a new sound with their old sounds. Will's rap, Jon's incomprehensible screaming fit, and the classic smooth clean vocals
When he sings "So what I'll die alone" it hits me so hard, you can hear the emotion in his voice. Almost puts me on the verge of tears.
7 years ago.. what the hell. This was the video that got me into DGD. What a ride.
I didn't really like tillians voice at first but now GOD DAMN this man has a voice of an angel
These lyrics... so strong. Living in society can really make us mad.
I'm so sorry that I never gave Acceptance Speech a chance. I blame Jonny.
DGD lifer here. Stopped listening after DBM2. Have been obsessing over this album to make up for lost time. I feel ya.
Lucas Higgins saw happiness on sale at a record store, there’s always missed opportunities for everyone
“i’m sorry” “i blame _” lol
Mutual. Glad I recanted my position on Tilian. It's all beautiful.
@Bryant Field : Wil Swan raps, "Doubling down on all of the clowns trying to remake DBM." Their first album was critically acclaimed and helped cement a sound they feel hasn't been touched by bands since.
*How did this go over all of our heads. This lyrical video is Crisp.*
This used to be my least DGD song, but after a few more listens, it's another beautiful creation that I can enjoy along with DGD's other masterpieces. ^-^
Each singer brings out something new in this band. That's one of the reasons I love them so much. So much adaptability.
What was with the exorcism in the middle of the song
Why not?
I just thought it was funny
It may be the best part 👌
I seriously think this is the best album theyve made. Ive been following them for about 2 years. Love them
Who thinks Dance Gavin Dance it's the best band ever?
¡I Do! ¡I Do!
❤️
They are not even the best hardcore band. (Horse the band is)
Straight facts bro
the jibberish, the rap at the end, the instrumentals, the cleans, this is perfection.
this song is a ride
the will hendrix experience, everyone
We've also only heard two of the songs from the album so far, listen to him live and he kills literally every song they do. It's incredible.
This album 10/10
Dance Gavin Dance. Masters of melody. The layering of Tilian's voice in the last two minutes is absolutely beautiful. STOKED about Acceptance Speech. October 8th, hurry up and get here!

***** now that would be interesting.....
***** its not a female
***** tilian is a counter tenor
raven55p8 I'm in complete agreement.
Tilian is the most polarizing part about this band as well. Whomever I show them to, they always comment on the vocals. "Too high" or "Wow this guy is great" constantly.

After a year or so of consistently listening to them though, it clicked and now it just love him in the band and wouldn't wanna miss him.
This song and whole album makes me so happy. I thank you Dance Gavin Dance for making this.
this song still fucking bangs
I love reading the lyrics before listening to the song, and automatically knowing what is and isn’t Jon’s parts lmao
Double it down on all the clowns trying to remake DBM!! lol love that part
@Kev Roberts it’s a good thing you corrected me on that 6 year old comment man. Dk what I would have done if you didn’t
Anyone else feel like they're going to cry as soon as Tilian starts to sing "I'm the one, I'm the one..." This song is just so much. It's beyond explaining.
"So what I'll die alone all right" - 'Acceptance Speech', Dance Gavin Dance
"I want the answer. I want the cure for dying alone!" - 'Chemical Fires', Tides of Man
Erm...Tilian?
Chemical fires came out first. He could have a came to a conceding point already. Anyway, it's normal to feel bad from time to time.. when the artist feels the ups of life again who knows he might make a song for hope :)
@Kristen Fisher how so?
Tillian you have a voice of a god. Haven't listened to DGD since the first time Jonny left. This is actually amazing! so stoked.
I legitimately missed the like button. Just noticed and corrected that now.
I've been listing to dgd since the demos and surprise I'm from Cuba and this kills so hard.
Tilian and will doing both endings are breathtaking with the subject matter
DGD is one of my favorite bands now. I tried to get into them a really long time ago, but didn't like Jonny's singing at all. Tillan is dope.

Ereryone who jumped on Dgd after 08 is weak >>
@@teajimenez255 no one cares pussy
Acceptance Speech IS awesome. It leaked and i've been listening to it for the past day. I can't wait to get my package with my shirts and the album!
WHYYY DOES JON NOT SCREAM IN THE GAPS AT 1:00-1:20 sorry just really, really think he should have. would have just glued that part together for me .-.
In my opinion, the best way to describe Tilian's voice is addictive. You'll find yourself second guessing it at first, but then begin to hum along with his parts with the third or fourth listen. Kinda tough to judge an entire cd with one listen and reading RUclips comments.
"The crack on the staircase i smoked out of boredom". What in the fuck is Johns problem? xD
it's just Jon. no h in his name.
I swear the way Will and Jon lead this band, not to mention the others is amazing no matter what changes they are always on point and I can't wait till they release the Secret band Album!
THIS AND DEATH OF THE ROBOT WITH HUMAN HAIR ARE BY FAR THE BEST SONGS ON THIS ALBUM!!!!!
Turn Off The Lights, I'm Watching Back To The Future, Part II
and honey revenge! :)
This will forever be one of my favorite songs from DGD.
the end was the brain of dgd aka Will Swan
TILLIAN I MISS YOU ALREADY THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING BRO ! This song was your declaration to the world that you were a force.
I love how proggy this is
I can't express how much I need this album.
1:22 - 1:40 and 2:33 - 4:08 (so basically the whole song lol) give me chills every time:D
this is my most anticipated album for sure. both songs sound awesome, i think tillian meshes so well with DGD. great work guys
I first heard this at a Hot Topic. Anyone know what this song is about?
Bullying and not being accepted because of being different.
Jon Mess (The unclean vocalist) just puts words together that sound good. Most of their songs don't have any meaning at all. It's all about feel, man. :)
borp12 I love Jon for that reason
Man vs society. It forces an individual to align onto the grid. 2:08, the pressure built insanity(muffled screaming effect), finally the clean vocals arise,
The acceptance speech.
and oh yeah.. the final part could be two things. It's either suicide or revenge.
DGD are just amazing with any line up. It's quite amazing how they keep it up!
The fetus line gets me every fucking time XD
LOVE DGD!! I remember when they came to pomona on september 28 (: DGD FOR LIFE!
Jon mess will happily.
My husband sings 'I'm the one, I'm the one with my finger up my bum' he ruins so many songs I like.
Franky Fuckin'FourPaws lol
you don't need that kind of negativity on your life.
There's only one solution: divorce. Ruining meaningful songs is on par with asking a man who has the beard of Zeus to shave it off... Not that I have one, just saying.
LOL fucking amazing
I love this band so much it can't be put into words! Please keep making music until the end of your days!
anyone else wants Jon Mess to work with Tim McIlrath
Not since Sufferer and the Witness. Tim changed his vocal style and pretty much everyone agrees they kind of went to shit after that. It's like when Papa Roach's vocalist switched over to straight pop-like singing... yeah, they both still release albums and make money but their prevalence and popularity took a nose dive pretty swiftly.
Love the piano playing at the very end of the song c:
I woke up in a new Bugatti lol
👁
no matter who is in the band i will always be pumped for a new DGD album.
Dance gavin Dance Evaporate
tony assassin I also came here after that reference
best band left on Rise. point blank. SUPER excited for Acceptance Speech.. October, hurry up!
man, I really enjoy the song acceptance speech, but that last bit just kills it for me.
I know I hate that too
boo hoo who cares? :]
They're having fun, like on dbm2. Don't be mad.
It's the best part bitch.
love that part haha. still more musically thought out than the original "woke up in a new bugatti" song
song is perf well done once again DGD you did it again
I just got into this band, and I hated them before. This is exactly how I got into this band. I've gotten to it recently, and simply because of Tilian.
EpicGabby12 if you can all put your opinions and say Tilian sucks, I can put my input too. (:
well, yeah, but you called us mean names :C
i used to hate dance gavin dance too. now theyre like my favorite band
x2xjaySx2x i never said he sucked
Jesus those clean vocals are just too addicting. So glad I found out about these guys.
So, almost one day on and I am completely enamoured with this song, the differences (for want of a better word) that I had with this track yesterday have almost entirely disintegrated.
This is the best DGD I've heard . Love the new album , Tilian kills it imo .
DGD does an amazing job at evolving their sound around their new singer, but still sounding like themselves. This album is amazing.
This song has only been out for like 3 days and I swear I've already listened to it like 584302575847785574 times.
DGD is the type of band that I listen to every single song they have and won't skip any. I love every fucking song. Literally.
This song is amazing, I'm so excited for the new album!!!
I like dgd no matter what through all their changes. They're still banging out that same type of battling sounding emotion packed fun stuff
Am I the only one that's in love with the end!! Will Is one of the best!
I am falling in love with you guys all over again. Thank you for the time you spend making beautiful music which enriches my life. DGD till the day I die.
So stoked to see them Friday!
I'm personally a big fan of DGD, my whole high school career I've listened to them. I'll always like them.
Sooo excited for this album!!!
0:57 OH MY GOD those vocals are ridadonkadonk! Love this!
Whatttt this came out 7 years ago ?! What !😯 I remember when this first came out !! Man time flies!!!
Tilian you're vocals are a different style and people are resilient to change. I, for one, absolutely loved you in Tides of Man and probably more in Dance Gavin Dance, as well as your solo work.
Those vocals towards the end are beautiful!
Jon mess sounds amazing - better than ever on this album. He kicks ass.
I'll always love DGD no matter what
I love this song! Can't wait for the album
So excited for this album!
This is up there for album of the year for me . Didnt have high hopes but it delivered .
Let's be honest, guys. DGD always has a new line up (usually the vocalist changes) for every new album they come out with and they're still always fucking awesome with their new unique vocalists. Give Acceptance Speech a chance, the band as a whole has always released awesome songs.
