I first had the privilege to hear Hillel speak in Miami around 2007. Great to see him on prime time, someone who has been fighting this righteous lonely fight for a very long time.

UNRWA's message to the Palestinians? You can choose war over peace and still expect to get everything you want.
Some humanitarian groups seem to be backing global terrorism because they're too keen on showing the world how tolerant they are. They've got this long list of people to blame, all because they want to look good. This leads them to value the wrong things, like how much aid they can give out, instead of aiming for true fairness and helping people become self-sufficient
They should be all about fairness and neutrality, helping people to a point where they can stand on their own, and then moving on to help others in need elsewhere.
Take the situation with the Palestinians and UNRWA after the 1948 War of Independence.
The real issue started when the choice was made to go to war instead of living in peace with Israel. That war led to Palestinian defeat and the creation of UNRWA to help the resulting 750,000 refugees. Fast forward to today, three generations later, and UNRWA says there are 5.9 million Palestinian refugees eligible for their services. (Remember that these humanitarian groups measure themselves by the size of aid provided.)
UNRWA has a unique definition for Palestinian refugees that includes not only the original refugees from the 1948 and 1967 conflicts but also their descendants. This definition is broader than the one that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) typically uses, which does not include descendants in refugee status. Effectively, the agency increased its responsibilities by a factor of 8 with its new definition.
The fact that Palestinians are still considered refugees is due to their bad reputation.
Everyone in the Middle East knows how they have earned this reputation by starting conflict in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait and Tunisia. Many of these countries still have not recovered. No one wants Palestinians to integrate into their societies. But this also reflects a failure by UNRWA to get the people self-sufficient and prioritize civic responsibilities over the priority of conflict and the destruction of Israel.
Over 74 years, UNRWA's become huge, with 13,000 people working there, still handling all basic services for Palestinians.
UNRWA keeps focusing on Palestinian victimhood and doing jobs that a government should be doing.
This overlooks the big picture: the refusal to accept Israel and the decision to wage war. Choices were made and priorities were set-not to work towards coexistence or economic partnership but to risk everything for war. Decisions have consequences.
But if you ask UNRWA, there shouldn't be a fallout from these decisions. Seventy-five years on, and we still have Palestinians in camps, hoping to reverse their defeat.
UNRWA's stance that Palestinians are merely victims without pushing for real societal and behavioral change has led to a cycle of dependency. They turn a blind eye to military efforts and validate historical grievances, ignoring the lack of accountability. While Hamas builds tunnels and missiles and the PA rewards violence, UNRWA remains silent.
UNRWA's message to the Palestinians? You can choose war over peace and still expect to get everything you want.
That's a dangerous mindset.

The UNHCR is the UN agency for all refugees world wide. It has about 19K staff.
The UNRWA is the UN agency for Palenstinian refugees only. It has about 30K staff.

UNRWA is a 75-year old UN refugee agency established just for the Arabs in Palestine that gets billions annually, has 30,000+ staff, builds schools, hospitals, housing, infrastructure, provides food/water/salaries, and more. UNRWA designates the Palestinians as the only refugee group that can pass on refugee status to their kids/grandkids in perpetuity so that they can get lifetime benefits from the UNRWA welfare state. Meanwhile, the 100+ million other refugees in the world are served by UNHCR, barely get any infrastructure, live in tents, get a fraction of the aid per person the Palestinians get, and generally only get aid for a few years before they are expected to move on with their lives. And while the Palestinians get all their needs met by the UNRWA welfare state, there are another 719 million people living in poverty (World Bank) in the world that get barely any attention from the UN.

The UN has another Refugee Agency, UNHCR. They deal with all the other refugees in the world. Most refugees are not even refugees, they are third generations of the original refugees, who most were Not refugees.
The Palestinians were not even refugees, but IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) that moved from one area in the Mandate of Palestine to other areas of the Mandate of Palestine, now Israel, Jordan or the Palestinian Territories.
As Hillel mentioned, ▪︎How can someone with citizenship from another country still be a refugee? Under the definition of a refugee, they can't! ▪︎How can the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and adopted children of original "refugees" born in other countries, and never having been in IsraelCanaan/Palestine be refugees? Again, they can't. The Palestinians are the only refugee population that inherit their refugee status from their parents.

How many times have I watched Mr. Neuer attempt to be heard and get shot down by the UN? Many. Finally, all of his hard work is beginning to show some progress. UNRWA needs to be dismantled. The UN has plenty of other organizations that can provide immediate food distribution assistance.
Let me state again. All Palestinians in Gaza are complicit because they raised Hamas, elected Hamas, celebrated the actions of Hamas, looted homes of dead or taken Israelis, so they must learn the hard lessons their actions bring in themselves.

They killed the King of Jordan Abdullah I, the current King of Jordan's great grandfather. They also tried to killing the current King's father Hussein and killed the Prime Minister. The Queen of Jordan is Palestinian and does not support Hamas either. Today Jordan hasn't really recover.

So true - my family fled Egypt in 1956 as refugees. We are no longer refugees. We are citizens in our new country and we have made good lives here. Palestinians are the only people who are accorded perpetual refugee status. Why?

So, why does Israel get called out, but no one takes Hamas/ Gazans/Palestinians to ICJ over this? Gazans chose and have continued to support, by more than 75%, Hamas, and approve what Hamas did on Oct.7th, according to multiple polls taken. Read Hamas' original charter, article 7, please. It is a statement of the very thing South Africa has accused Israel of, only not limited to Israel, but worldwide. And they've acted on it. Why not make a case against Hamas, and UNRWA(as contributos/members), and take it to ICJ just like the one South Africa made? If the court thought the case by South Africa fit, then with all this , it would be hard to deny the same for Hamas and UNRWA.
Also, Hamas has already broken two ceasefires by killing Israelis. They had agreed to the protocols for hostage handovers then broke that agreement too. This could have all been over on Oct.8th if the hostages had been returned and the perpetrators handed over, that they didn't was another Hamas/Gazan/Palestinian choice. And they keep making that same choice every day since, because they want this war to continue so the world will condemn Israel for trying to demolish the weapons supplies in the tunnels, the tunnels so they can't be used again, and Hamas itself. Especially, after a Hamas leader stated to the world that they would continue to carryout Oct.7th type attacks. Israel is/ has been attacked from three sides by three different terrorist groups, and members of UNRWA. The person that I saw in an interview making allegations about who the staff of UNWRA in Gaza were was an older Gaza/Palestinian woman..... 13 people manning that agency alleged to be Hamas members, not by me. but by several Palestinians in various interviews....And UN Women taking two months to say single word about what was done to Israeli women says to me they do not represent all women. Because of these things, I have written all my governmental representatives, and told them I do not want my tax dollars going to either of these agencies, and if they choose to send money, they will lose my vote. And I am not alone!

UNWRA is only active in Gaza and the West Bank -- and that's more than enough.
Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, anywhere that the refugees from the 1948 war against Israel settled and did not have the funds or connections to move to another country. Keep in mind that this includes Arabs that had left Palestine on their own decision, prior to Israel's declaration of independace, such as Mahmoud Abas' family.

there is no reason for UNRWA or any other agency to service "Palestinian refugees" anywehere - why? There are no Arab Palestinian refugees. There have not been any for decades
