Not only Vandergriff, but KY also got an All-American linebacker transfer from GA.
Mizzou has a cakewalk schedule
GO BIG BLUE!!!!
That Mizzou Sched is more Little Debbie than many lil10 teams
GO BIG BLUE
Everyone is a sleeper team according to Josh Pate.
As a mizzou fan, I'd hold off on predicting we win anything significant until after the first few weeks we see the defense in action. If we cant hold those OOC teams under 20, we ain't winning shiii.
There is no reason why Missouri can't start the season 7-0. Missouri has an easy schedule this year. They don't play LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas nor Georgia. Missouri is also at home against Auburn and Texas A&M has a new Head Coach. No excuses
@@WangHungLo As a life long Mizzou fan, they always find a way to "Mizzou" themselves. It's a curse. There's so many stupid and annoying ways they have lost in the past or lost to teams they had no business losing to. The game @ UMass scares me this year.
@@claytonwalde2103 since they can beat Ohio State then they can beat UMass. No excuses
Mizzou should look at what happened to Okie State when they lost their defensive coordinator genius to Ohio State as to see their future. It's a very big deal.
Mizzou will not be the same this year. Coaching matters!
@@CDSparks let's not forget that Ryan Day is 0-3 against S.E.C program though
Kentucky can't do it, they suffer the same issue many in the SEC do. They don't have the depth needed for a title run. The 4th qtr won't be their friend.
game 2 will decide whether SC or KY are decent teams
Our ceiling is 8 wins because we have Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee on the schedule. We could be legitimately great and still go 8-4
@@Berley_1234no it won’t it’s game 2
I mean we went 11-2 one year not too long ago beat overrated James Franklin and Penn State with their transfer QB Will Levis
Depth is the last reason why Kentucky won’t compete
Mizzou schedule is a freaking joke
At Alabama seems funny lol
"I got a big one" ~ Josh Pate
Mizzu takes a step back this year.
Drink Stinks
Have you seen that schedule? The only Toss ups are Bama and OU
@@shawnkurtz4424 A&M and Auburn. But they do have a manageable schedule.
Nope.
Go ahead and bet that way, though.
Offense is gonna be top-10 at worst
Defense has near 2 months to figure it out.
More depth generally and higher Roster talent at skill positions than years past.
Only caveat is Cook staying healthy
Kid's pretty damn tough and that should be a top 10ish O-Line, as well.
QB 2 is 4-1 in Starts against top-25 Opponents.
Missouri should be fine.
Cheers
I can’t wait till August.
SEC coaches resisted 9 conference games unless they get more tv money and the playoff selections more strongly emphasize strength of schedule. That should help with cannibalizing within the conference.
it was a smart move for sure. The SEC has Vandy. The lil10 has Illinois, Indiana, NW, Purdue, Michigan St, Rutgers, and UCLA. Let's go to Miss St lvl. Now we've got teams like Maryland, Wisconsin, Nebraska, USC..

Auburn is a big sleeper. Oklahoma is predicted to go 7 and 5. I'll put my house on it that they go 9 and 3 they're the most dangerous team in the country besides ole miss
Oklahoma will shock the nation.

We will welcome you to the SEC when Tennessee comes to Town go Big Orange
The beating they’ll take in Jordan-Hare will be shocking.

Kentucky fan here, but I thought Mizzou won the SEC the first year they joined? Or was it just the East? I wouldn't consider Mizzou a sleeper considering the year they had last year and the huge step they've taken in recruiting. Kentucky hasnt had a single 5 star player and only a handful of 4 star players so I'd be extremely shocked if they ever even come close 😂
No they lost to Auburn
My man if you're a Kentucky fan you must not follow the team because that's incorrect. They actually have multiple 5 star caliper players, and Alot of four star players. Keyshawn Silver, Brock vandergriff both five star recruits out of high school, Deone Walker, Barion Brown, both were high four star, and five star on some rankings out of highschool. People forget Kentucky had the 13th ranked Recruiting class two years ago, Deone Walker and barion Brown and Dane key were all a part of that class are all juniors now. I think people are sleeping on this roster, everyone was quick to jump on the hype train last year, in reality that was premature, that class in particular is full of talent and their seasoned vets now. Plus this roster is full of 4 star talents, There are some players like Brian Robinson, The smith twins, Jamarion Wilcox, Jason Patterson, Anthony Brown-stephens, who are all highly talented recruits that normally would be at programs like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, ect. This is the most talented Kentucky football roster I've ever seen in my life and although their schedule is tough, barring any injuries to Brock vandergriff assuming he is as advertised this might be a good year for UK football. I think they go 8-4, but I would not be surprised if they upset any of the big ones on the schedule.
@@Wetrockstah2116 The last true 5 star players Kentucky had that actually played and finished at UK was Micah Johnson and he was class of 06. The closest recent 5 stars, meaning that maybe one ranking system had them as a 5, was Kiyaunta Goodwin (left UK) and Justin Rodgers (left UK). Keyshawn and Brock both were ranked as 4 stars coming into UK.
And my original comment was about the recruiting class coming in. Which there are zero five stars and I think like 5 four stars
@@TheRCBuildersPost Brock was a top 5 quarterback in the 2021 class and top 25 overall, and was a 5 star recruit out of highschool. Keyshawn Silver was a top 31 overall player and top 5 defensive tackle and was a 5 star out of highschool in the same 2021 class. Both were rated as 4 star transfers, but both were 5 star talents out of highschool. Barion Brown was actually a five star recruit at one point depending on where you look but ultimately a 4 star. You're right an Micah Johnson, and kiyaunte Goodwin who didn't live up to the hype. Yeah Justin Rogers was a former 5 star as well, but if you take a look at Kentuckys top 15 recruiting class of 2021, which had guys like Deone Walker and barion Brown ect, then add Two former 5 stars out of that same class, I'd say is pretty impressive considering these guys are juniors now. Plus, Alot of teams are full of four star kids, like Washington was last year, TCU the year before, Ole miss, Tennessee ect. Every one of those rosters weren't much better than what Kentucky has right now. You can have a player like Brian Robinson for example who committed to Kentucky over Michigan and Ohio State, who is a 4 star, but IMO is underrated and will be a problem. This Roster is talented, the most talented Kentucky roster I've ever seen in my 35 years.
Once they get to college stars don't matter. The star system is about politics not future development. Rankings is based on region/state, high school, early Varsity film, offers from major programs, camps and high school coach relationships with the writers that do the ranking. Most of those guys never played football yet we rely on them to determine future success. Future development is more important than ranking a kid at 16 and projecting that he will be a better pro prospect at 21. Stop looking backwards and look ahead. This roster is filled with NFL caliber players. The Coaching staff added a few new coaches that are phenomenal at developing talent. The strength and conditioning program is Elite. That is the unspoken part of the equation. This team is going to shock the world.
OU is my sleeper pick
Last year you said UK upside was 9-3, I agreed. Leary never settled down in the offense. Underwhelming results, but the top 10 Louisville win made it okay.
‘24 Season:
Cats bare minimum. 7 wins.
Cats max. 9 wins.
New OC averaged 32pts/game and 430+ yard in last OC stint.
Lexington has been hungry for competitive football for a while. The program wants to grow. Stoops best stop flirting with greener pastures and get serious.
No Auburn talk means we aren’t a sleeper? 10-2 or 6-6
I think the Aubs are coasting under the radar. I think they going to surprise some teams this season and i sure hope it aint Bama. LOL I think they will be 5-0 after Oklahoma headed to GA undefeated. Finishing 9-3 or 10-2. 👍
prolly 7-5
My sleeper team is Tennessee

Florida is the biggest sleeper team. People are really dumb enough to believe we will only win 4 games. The knowledge of college football is at an all time low.
I would get behind this but bro that schedule is pure bonkers!
If they win 6 against that schedule they should consider it a huge success.
I would say Florida will be more of a spoiler team, they could easily knock off Tennessee (like last year) and Kentucky (at home) perhaps Texas A&M, Florida can win 7 and change the outcome of the SEC ratings. Watch out for Florida at home!

Here's a crazy scenario for you. TN, TX, and MIZ all undefeated at end of season before SEC title game. Who goes to the SEC title game?
None of them because that scenario is not happening.
(And to play along, I believe the tie breaker would be either ranking or something to do with record of common opponents)
@@alexramage4840 Its doubtful, but TX and TN if SOS is the tie breaker.
@@zefrankenberg1475 SOS is subjective and doubt has any bearing on determining who goes to SECCG in event of tie.
I strongly suspect there’s a CFP ranking tiebreaker in that scenario.
I do anticipate a nasty logjam of same records with only having 8 games to rank 16 teams. There’s plenty of weird 7-1 tiebreaker scenarios or 6-2 2nd place tiebreaker nightmares. No divisions and only 8 games has got potential for chaos

Missouri had a TCU year. It isn't happening that way again. That being said, they may not need to play that well this year, their schedule is pretty favorable
TCU lost a lot of their studs that year. Mizzou brings back a lot of players, but they'll find a way to lose to UMass........
no FSU had a TCU year
@@Berley_1234 That is true too
Something tells me @claytonwalde2103 won’t put $100 on UMass to defeat Mizzou…..Pate makes a good point - Mizzou has the players/schedule to make a run. Time will tell…..
it will. They play nobody for the next 2 years
Stop it, Josh. Kentucky isn’t making the playoffs.
Neither will Mizzou. Imo
as a UK fan, we will never EVER win the SEC, let alone make a championship appearance until we have a better, competitive coach and coaching staff. but we won’t because nobody would want to coach UK football. so we have Stoops, (now) the longest tenured SEC coach.
He preaches defense, at the start it wasn’t good but one top 10 defense in 2018 and since this past decade, the average ranking of defense is 57th. since 2017 the average is 33rd. His achilles heel is choking the games that you’re supposed to win or come close to winning but has a bad call or the QB ends the game, like SC last year.
but i’ll give thanks to Stoops for this: he’s made us a much better team for others to play against. we used to be a doormat-an easy win on everyone’s schedule-just another Vanderbilt. teams are starting to take us seriously and the narrative of “basketball school only” in due time will start to die away.
the SEC has been screwing us the past couple of years with near gauntlet schedules. even with divisions, we played two of the better West teams like Alabama LSU or Ole Miss every now and then. We’ll be the best 8-4 team in the country with Ls to Georgia, @ Ole Miss, @ Tennessee, and @ Texas.
8-4 or 9-3 is UK’s ceiling considering the strength of schedule, more than likely they will end up 6-6 or 7-5 like most years
Bro there is a reason Mike Stoops was fired as DC at Oklahoma. Dude sucks, the only ONLY reason he was at OU for so long is bc of big bad Bob! I'm not crapping on Bob Stoops BTW, but Mike... He set the program back YEARS. Y'all Kentucky fans watch, it'll be the same crud over and over again. Hell even Alex Grinch can have a good(ish) defensive season from time to time but he is far from a culture change and so is Mike. BOOMER!
I don't see how Missouri repeats what they did last season. They lost too many of their better players. Robinson, Rakestraw, Abrahms-Draine, Harper, Foster, Shrader and several others.
Because they replaced them
Mizzou will find a way to lose one of those gimme games. They always find some annoying way to lose.
Joke! 9-3 sec goes over 11-1 acc all day lmao already proved that. Thanks espn
In the SEC, you will have 1 or 2 top level teams, then a bunch of teams named joe, and bottom dwellers who would be bottom dwellers in any conference. The difference between the SEC and the other "power" conferences is their top team rotates every decade or so.
Well that, and their superior bowl record, 10+ consecutive years of most draft picks, best recruiting classes, multiple championship teams in one season (Bama & UGA in 2017 & 2021). But yeah other than all that, SEC is just like everyone else.
The SEC has 4 teams (bama, LSU, uga and uf) with multiple titles this century. Could be wrong but I think clemson is the ONLY non SEC team with multiple titles to their resume. Then you have vols and plainsmen with 1 each. No conference can come close to matching that success this century, beginning of BCS which was actually in '98.
@@ThemDawgsIsHellDontThey LSU and bama played for the title in '11 also.
