Living in Poland, I remember when I was 7, it was 2002 and I'd see one of those parked near the place I'm living. It was much different experience, seeing car like 740i E38 among vehicles like Fiat 125, 126, Polonez, to name a few. Nowadays, seeing exotic and luxury cars in Poland isn't something extraordinary, but back then, it was just an experience. My father used to own this car shortly after and it was great. Even nowadays when I see car like E38 I will turn my head to see it passing by. I just feel like modern cars don't have the same soul like with the old autos. They all look the same nowadays or at least very similar in terms of rounded design.
Still looks smart and luxurious even after 24 years! Very clean lines and quality materials. Newer ones look fussy and brash by comparison. The E38 and E39 are definitely a BMW high point!
BMW is the German brand that outshines the Mercedes Benz 5/1 in my opinion if you look at this car compared to the S-class back than you will notice this E38 spec have had sat nav with multifunction steering wheel wich I really don't know if the S-class had back then. It's actually pathetic to see that any Mercedes Benz is worth more 💰 money (expensive)than BMW even in today's terms. I'm really sorry to say that but BMW is to me the best there is between itself and the Mercedes.

Recommendable to a person in their late teenage years/early 20s? I read they're expensive to maintain. The 740 does have a sweet V8 though.
