Thank you! For some reason my part was orientated in the correct direction, but when moving it to an assembly it changed its orientation, and this video helped!
Thanks, this is exactly what I was talking to my guys and they could not get it. Changing the view is not a solution. SW is a good soft but if you make a mistake at the beginning it will make you cry only at the end. If you know what I mean. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video, you did a great job of showing how to change the orentation so that when selected it would give a "machine, Z-up" orentation which I tried immediately. The problem I have is that I can't fugure out how to get the sketch to follow the change. It flips the axis, i.e. if you pick FRONT axis from the orientation box then Z is up and X is to the right (so far so good) then you select to open a sketch and the plane flips and Z is now point down, X to the right. I would like to configure SW to run "machine coodinates" (Z-up, X-right, ...) is this possible?
I cannot change the view orientation in my assembly with your 2nd (method) , I wonder if there is a problem because in my assembly I fixed several components and these maybe could be the reason , isnt it? . I was forced to use method 1 . Thnks for your video.
hello .... Why the if i make some holes on the assembly those holes don't get transferred on to the part it self? There for when I open the part there are no holes, any idea if those holes shown on the part so a technical drawing can be generated ?
I got question for you I already have project for someone and I want to change his name in the project and write my name on it and add some parts as well can you tell me how can I do that. Thank you
I just imported the file as igs from creo to SolidWorks but when I want to give its dimensions in drafting in Solidworks, the part is tilt to some angle so how can I fix this.

Tool -> component -> rotate

Im not sure but I think you should open it on assembly.

If you're trying to rotate a part, open the part in the assembly and do the steps (either rotating components, or move base).... :)
This is changing the orientation of assemblies not parts
which is much easier to do, I may add. What I need help with is changing the orientation on PARTS
