She is the best female dancer in the industry. She picks up choreography and executes it lightning fast.

I actually liked Janet’s response about her father’s disciplinary actions. “Discipline without love is Tyranny and Joe wasn’t a Tyrant”. She’s low key telling us that Jo wasn’t the horrible monster most of us portray him as. He had a method to his madness and he raised 9 children who were never in jail or on drugs and all successful in their own right.

I mean, Joe brought in sex workers and had sex with them in the same room as his children when touring with The Jackson 5. Let's not pretend that Joe wasn't abuse because we keep wanting to find "a reason" to explain away all the pain he caused because we feel a need to rationalize trauma, as being "necessary" or "a good thing actually", in order to "toughen one up to the outside world". But it's not. Trauma does not make you inherently stronger. It doesn't build character. It doesn't happen for any good or deeper reason. It just hurts you. The real strength comes from taking the steps to heal and overcome the trauma.
F.D. Signifier said it best, "Tough love is just trauma we've mythologized as useful." And the road to recovery/betterment/improvement _is_ a long one, but it is doable and you don't have to walk it alone.

Come on, chain! I honestly teared up seeing her revisit Gary, Indiana. Especially when she passed the Genesis Convention Center. G.I. is actually my hometown.
I grew up there, and it was a great city at the time, and especially in the 70's. My mom actually lived a street down from them, and remembered seeing them back then.
Seeing it now always upsets me. I have so many beautiful memories there, and I wished they had shown it in its former glory. 🙏🙏🙏

I thought the documentary was interesting. Most of it I already knew because I've grew up listening to The Jacksons. I've seen Michael and his brothers in concert twice back in the 1980's; The Victory Tour and Bad Tour. I've seen Janet during The Velvet Rope Tour in 1998. 💫🙏🏾👍🏾👏🏾🇺🇸

If someone's sharing themselves then you can expect them to only share what they want to. Now had it been me, my doc would've included my accomplishments, maybe some of my public struggles and all the good parts. Had someone else told it, they might've exposed all of my ugly secrets and juicy details.

She repeated something Michael told her a couple time
    Practice
    Don’t quit
    Have self confidence
I think she has applied this in her life. She kept her head down and kept moving, confident that she was ready for whatever.

James DeBarge's drug addiction stemmed from the abuse he suffered at the hands of his oldest brother Bobby. Bobby abused James because James was their father's favorite child and Bobby was abused the worst by their father.

Janet used to be a lot more open about her feelings regarding Joseph. I remember in 2010 her almost breaking down because she wasn’t 100% sure if he loved her. Like she said he did, but it was like she was saying it to convince herself. And she tried to make him an integral part of her life for so long, and as a fan it was hard to see.
I do think Joseph softened in his later years, and the fact that she was one of his few children that saw him after his strokes says a lot about how far they came. By the time he died I think that she made her peace with him.

She only did this documentary to paint her dad in a good light there was no real honesty in this documentary if you can tell the documentary basically focused on her family and her career more than her actual life for all that she should have just done a documentary on her career and success
