    He prearranged the deck and every time he or she "shuffles" the deck he undoes it so that the cards will be in the order of his story.
    The trick itself was about 6/10 but the way he preformed it was amazing. Bravo to him.

  • @sutro19
    @sutro19 8 лет назад +5

    The 6 of spades is the key card for those wondering. It gives the information that you have to cut the deck in a way so it comes last because of the upper corner being slightly bent which is easy to see when performing.

  • @FiresetGames
    @FiresetGames 10 лет назад +30

    SPOILER:
    The trick uses no 'peeking' nor does his shuffling or cutting matter. Those are only there for looks and show to make you think the trick is random.
    The bottom card is rigged to allow the deck to recover from simple false cuts. Notice he does no legit riffle shuffle. The shuffle in the beginning was false, and he used his speech and eyes to misguide Ellen and the audience. Every time he cuts the deck or has Ellen cut it for him, he grabs the stacks and feels for the bottom card in the middle of the deck which is easily found if a corner is slightly bent. From there he just cuts from below that rigged card and places those on top and everything stays in order. Everything else he does with the hands is basic false cuts that look fancy to the normal eye.
    Source: I used to do this trick for friends.
    Enjoy

    • @subhranilbanerjee
      @subhranilbanerjee 10 лет назад

      If we pause at 0:05 , we can see that the cards are in the exact same order as his "storyline" :)

    • @FiresetGames
      @FiresetGames 10 лет назад

      Subhranil Banerjee Yeah, he has it started in that order. The first cuts he made right before he spread the cards is simple. He swapped the halves back right before he placed the stacks on top of each other on the table. You can see his hands cross back right before the first stack makes contact with the table. It just looks like a legit shuffle since he makes separation of cards and slaps them on the table for emphasis. The normal eye just assumes it's a shuffle because seeing the cards separate and come back together are the only significant parts of shuffle we actually remember. Like I said, the tricks uses no memorization of cards, no card peeking, no loose gimmicks, and no fancy cuts actually have to be done to impress the person. He just uses the cuts for show to further draw the idea of randomness. The whole trick is based off the bottom card.

    This guy is a great magician. Fast paced and has his shit together. There are a few tricks with his base method, but this one is probably the furthest I've seen one go. Very impressive. I won't give much away, but I will say that you'll notice he only says to 'cut' the deck, and not shuffle. That's a major key.

    Look closely at how he "shuffles" the deck at the beginning. He doesn't actually mix up the deck. And when Ellen is asked to cut it, he secretly peeks at the cards, then cuts them and puts them back to the normal order.

      James messed up one of the false cuts he was doing which left that single one out of order. The only reason he went through the cards was to put that specific one back in the right position. No "secret" peeking or any of that.

    If you know anything about card magic at all this trick is all about the story. It's just false shuffles and stacking the deck, not hard to do.
    You could practice the moves all you wanted but if you're rubbish at telling the story in a beautiful way, the trick looks bad.

    1. From the initial lay-down, the left-most card is a 6 of spades. That's the last card of the straight flush.
    2. He actually missed to pick up one card then re-positioned that card (face-front) to its rightful place.
    3. Quick, silly story amazes the audience, removes the attention to the cards' fake shuffling. The misdirection rule.
    4. Great act.

    The cards are sorted with the same sequence at the beginning of the video, and every time you take a cut it can be returned back by the 6 Spades because it is being bended from the top so it saves the sequence no matter how many times the cards is being cutted.

    How I see this trick done:
    1) Use a stripper deck with the obvious gaff card
    2) Stack the deck
    2) False shuffles (Note that he does not follow up properly on the riffle shuffle)
    3) The card he left out near the beginning is the marker card that he places back in the correct position in the deck, but in the opposite orientation, allowing a single cut of the stripper deck to bring the deck back into order.
    4) Tell story

  • @TheLilSkittle
    @TheLilSkittle 11 лет назад

    At 0:09, he 'shuffles'. When he is merging the two interleaved piles back together, the 'trick' is that he actually pulls them back apart. He screws this part up so bad he has to pause, look straight at the cards, and carefully pry the piles back apart. It's a disruptive act in the middle of what should be some really smooth sleight of hand.

  • @SRHSTuba
    @SRHSTuba 11 лет назад

    Pause it at 0:05 and you can see the cards laid out in order, (For example the four aces followed by the "WHAT THE HELL?" card and then the 2-6 straight) As Oldbasstard4 pointed out, at 0:15 he un-shuffles his shuffle leaving his cards in perfect order. Then at 0:23 he leaves a card out before examining the deck and reordering it. This card is then placed at the bottom and after the cuts, is probably marked in a fashion to give him the correct order again at 0:40. The deck is back in order.

    The deck is already set up the way he wants it. If u didnt know, he never shuffled the deck. He continuously cut the deck which does not change the order of the cards. To prove this- notice how in the beginning when he asks her to cut the deck, one card falls out on accident. Then he goes through the deck to put it back.
