    I need a new pair of running shoes and would like to switch to altra. I train athletics 3 times a week, with an focus on sprint training. For pure sprint we do put on spikes, but the shoes I am looking for must be able to handle up to 5km but more importantly be able to handle fast paces to sprint. I do want some cushioning so the escalante is not the ideal choice. I was wondering if you recommend the vanish carbon or vanish tempo? And wich from the 2 would you recommend the most?

  • @chrisogrady28

    I really wish someone made a carbon plated non-super-cushioned racing shoe. I'm already 6ft4, the last thing I want it to be stabding on stilts and detatched from the road surface. I wish I could get the 22mm stack Escalante Racer with a carbon plate

    Hi Steve,. would you say this shoe is the same width as the Rivera? The Rivera was too narrow for me. The regular Torin is my sweet spot.....

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 года назад +2

      It is the same category width as the Rivera, but I think it fits a little wider, partially due to the more forgiving upper material.

    • @swings1940
      @swings1940 2 года назад

      I'm in the same boat. I got the Rivera 2. where my metatarsal meets my tarsal joint on my pink toe. That part was jutting out of the material. It looked like a growth. The rest of the shoe fit fine. I'm still gonna try these and size up a little.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 года назад

      @@swings1940 The Rivera definitely also runs short, so sizing up a half to a whole size is a good idea.

    Hi Steve, did Zach Bitter mention anything about wearing this shoe for any of his 100 mile stuff? I'm a little curious about the things he said. Wasn't that long ago where he was running in the vanish-r, solstice, and Escalante racers. This shoe has much different dimensions to it! I might be sold on this shoe. I'm very curious.. I wear barefoot and minimalist shoes because I think they're great for form but I think a shoe like this would work because how running form seems to find itself at faster paces. I think your review just sold me on it though. I think I'll have to pick it up!

      I don't have an issue with the heel lock in the Vanish Carbon. The heel cup is similar to the MB, but a little better designed IMHO. Still very flimsy and unsupported, but does keep the heel in place.

    Hey Steve, I love running in my Altras but I also like running in Pumas. Have you considered carrying them in your store? When it comes to plated shoes, the Deviate Nitro $160 and the Deviate Nitro Elite $200 are cheaper than Altra racing shoes. No 0 drop, but their toe box is quite accommodating. Promoting a mid to forefoot strike with their more flatter geometry plus more ground feel. They feel more natural than the super shoes out there that are built on a more rocker technology. Their Puma grip outsole also looks to outlast anything else in its class. Alot of running stores in my area and outlets on the web are not carrying Puma and perhaps Puma is the one that's making that difficult because of the availability of some of their models can be scarce. But either way it's a shame because their putting out a very fine product.

    How about the stiffness of the carbon plate vs a Nike Fly 4, a Vaporfly or a Hoka Carbon for example?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 года назад +2

      Because the carbon plate in this shoe is pronged, the shoe has little more flexibility than other carbon racers.
