This part of the game was absolutely brilliant. From the stories told about Lemuria from the first game and some parts of this game you're told of a vibrant city with technology far in advance of the rest of the world, with occupants that have transcended the natural laws of aging. This was basically Atlantis. When you finally arrive here what you're presented with is a place in decay with this mournful track. You feel disappointed yet completely intrigued as to what the hell happened. You then learn that eternal life simply has dire consequences for the human spirit. I really like games like this and Zelda et all that have parts built solely to reflect philosphical issues in our own lives.
I'll never get why Motoi Sakuraba gets so much praise for his "rock" type tracks when he does such amazing town/forest/map themes like this. His slower, more ambient stuff is consistently amazing.
Every moment of this track playing is just.. perfect. Especially after the anticipation Babi gave us in Golden Sun 1, getting past the whirlpools and defeating Poseidon, knowing that Lunpa is alive, getting Rime in flooded ancient Lemuria and last but not least, leaving Lemuria after the big revelation, Argh! It's just sending me places thinking about it.
no better way to represent and simbolize Weyard's decadence other than its biggest civilization in such a decaying state. if not even Lemuria survived the loss of the Alchemy through time, whats the rest of the world supposed to expect? Lemuria's massive contrast with the stories u were told during GS1 & part of GS2 about it, where they painted Lemuria as the ultimate civilization, added to how it is in this very place where u learn the world is slowly consuming itself, makes it one of the most memorable locations in all of Golden Sun. brilliant atmospherical soundtrack aswell.
It is the most memorable town to me. Along with Vale, Prox and Tolbi. Not that the others are boring at all, but these cities/towns stand out of the rest because of their backstory, rather than what you actually accomplish yourself there.
I wouldn’t really call Weyard “decadant”. Most of the second game’s locales are very poor in fact. Hell, even bigger locations like Xian, Tolbi, Kalay, there’s no sense of decadence there. Maybe Lady McCoy? Or maybe you’re referring to whatever peoples came before, that drove the world to seal alchemy away? At which point, I always took it to be about greed and power, which I suppose decadence could be a factor of. Anyway, yes, Lemuria is a great moment in the games. Mostly because you see in pretty much every town some kind of struggle occurring, and yet time and again, you’re told about Lemuria, and it might well build up this idea that there’s hope for civilisation to finally advance on. And then you get there, and it’s shown so plainly that the entirety of Weyard is in decline. Not just through Hydros’ Ted talk, but just by the very fact that even Lemuria is falling apart. It’s a great attempt at making the player feel like their mission is in fact important, even if there are no immediately villainous threats.
I've always wanted to know more about what the part of Ancient Lemuria looked like. To explore that part in the game. It's a shame you can't though. Unrelated note: 100th like. :)
I remember reading about lemuria. I think it used to be thought as Atlantis but a continent. Apparently the residents were believed to have evolved into lemurs and I also saw something about them having multiple limbs. Also they domesticated plesiosarus, so that's metal.
@@HiyaCoffee I obviously disagree, and I also win this argument, since you didn't even bother posting which track you think is better and why you think that.

@Grayson Peddie your post also is now two years old, you can have a like as well.
kalta desmon Your post is only 2 weeks old, but for keeping the chain going, it deserves a like.
@@LeviathaninWaves Well, that 2 days old post does deserve a little like too. What a peaceful and respectful place we have here.

Leaving Lemuria feels really special with this music and the comedy moment With the team. It feels so relaxed
Wish we could've explored ancient Lemuria...the see the much-promised splendor of a once-glorious civilization.
OMG OK. I do have lots of favorite songs. This is also one of my favorites. Also, Lemuria was my favorite place. Lemurians are awesome!!!!
Except the elders
The sequel actually paid off what was set up in the first game.
When you learn Piers's mom is gone

Masterclass.
I swear I can almost hear Hidden Land from Explorers of Sky in this, it probably sets the same tone as this game.
