    Were these Acrylic or Enamel paints? Any difference between them on golf clubs? Putter looks amazing!

      @igolf906  2 месяца назад +1

      Tamiya is acrylic. The Testors paint, which I believe was used to fill this one, is enamel.

    What grinding/sanding wheel it that? Looks like it takes down the highs and lows but doesn't gouge the metal too much?

    This is close to what I want to do with my older TM Spider. But I'm unsure about the metal composition... i believe it's just aluminum with a black enamel paint finish. 🤔

      Not sure of the models but Spiders have all kinds of different materials. From stainless to aluminum and plastic badging. 🤷‍♂️

    I can’t get the face plate part off the 03’ Futura “Patient Pending” for the life of me!! Horseshoe weight came right off with just a couple wiggles… the face part just won’t separate tho! I’ve torched, pried, soaked, and kicked… and it’s not even budging a little?! 🤦🏻‍♂️ any suggestions/advice? I’m I missing something?

      From what I remember it took a lot of slow steady pressure to break the adhesive free. So wear some gloves, heat it up, and then it needs slow pressure to pry it apart.

      One more question.. do you recommend applying any sort of adhesive or anything under the face plate when you’re screwing it back together? I don’t think you did in this video, but just curious since there was some on the factory original. Thx!

    Did you re-mill the face? Why did you take the milling off? Personal choice?

    • @igolf906

      The milling on these were so shallow and light it didn't make any difference in feel. Plus I want the smooth brushed look for this restore.

      Acetone to try and break up the adhesive a bit, then some heat, and slow prying.

    Hey! I’m tinkering around with trying to cold blue a 1025 carbon Mizuno putter head. It’s coming out pretty uneven like your first attempt. Any tips/tricks? Love you channel 👍

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  Год назад +3

      The putter is either not clean, or theres still remnants of a coating left on it. To get an even finish the putter needs to be completely stripped of any residual coating, soaked in acetone and baked before any type of finish like that is done. I don't really do gun blue finishes anymore but, that's essentially the same method for anything. Torching, cerakote ect.

    • @nathanfurumasu
      @nathanfurumasu Год назад

      @@igolf906 thanks! That was my suspicion. It’s having a little acetone spa day as we speak! I’ll give it another try before I pivot.

    Is there a way to make the aluminum a different color? I'm trying to win the same putter and think Navy blue and yellow ring would look so awesome on it. Like you might have to sane the top down too flat though.

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  2 года назад

      You could look into anodizing for aluminum. Otherwise cerakote is and option too.

      As I was curious myself, I rewatched the entire video. From everything that was used in this video only, somewhere in the ballpark of $375-$400.

      Awesome! You never know. The only thing I worry about is face milled putters like these. If they have major dings in them you have to essentially sand it back to flat. I may be looking into face milling at home in the future though ;)

    • @texasspangler
      @texasspangler 2 года назад

      If you are able to do the face milling I am sure you will be able to bring back plenty of putters to life even if it just a hobby for now.

    • @igolf906
      @igolf906  Год назад

      The milling was so thin, that it made no difference in feel from where it was, to a smooth face. I now have options to get the faces remilled, which I do if they are bad enough, but for this particular putter it didn't really matter. The person who purchased it loved it!

    • @igolf906

      It would be impossible to get all the nicks and dings out of this putter without disassembling. Also, each piece had a different finishing process so, again, would not be possible without disassembling. This isn't just a fun little hobby. People pay good money to have their high end putters look like new again. Half assed work isn't what I'm about 🤷‍♂️
