The house Drummer that you can see behind Max in this TV show was Emilio De Biase, a very talented Italian (Neapolitan) drummer, unfortunately passed away too young. He was a big friend of Tullio De Piscopo, one of the greatest Italian drummers.
I don't speak or write Italian, but I understand your comment (I studied French and Latin at school decades ago. Maybe I'll take Italian courses when I retire. I consider it a very lovely language). I don't know if anyone can be called the best or the most complete. I admire Joe Morello, Elvin Jones - or f.i. Terry Lyne Carrington, Vinnie Colaiuta or Brian Blade. But Max was always my favorite drummer, for whatever reason. I liked his strength, his determination, his musicality, his lyrical style. And his political convictions in the fight for equality. Many times I sang his song 'Mendacity' to myself after listening to politicians or business bosses. I saw him live in Germany four times. Each time it was an enlightenment. I saw him chatting happily with a big band drummer who was proud to play alongside with him. I've seen him getting enraged when a minor jazzman's name was written larger than his on a poster simply because 'Max Roach Double Quartet' was such a long name and they chose smaller letters to make it fit, or when his trumpeter slightly missed the cue. These were different aspects of his passionate personality. And he was truly able to convey the passion for rhythm and for music in general to his audience like no other.
Thanks for posting this! Bloody Hell! from 4:17 on John Bonham copped that part of his solo from Max! As much as I love Bonzo, Max was better on this solo's motifs. That said John was The King of the Triplet, and Doubles on a single bass drum pedal. Cheers!
Grazie, Luca!
'It's Time' and 'The Drum also Waltzes', as far as I know. Timeless greats. The first piece is about my age. I hope I look half as fresh as the music sounds.

Great definition but the filming of this is terrible. Just because the drums go fast doesn’t mean the camera angles go fast. Zooming onto the ride stand so fast finna give me a seizure.
I'm very amused by the expressions on the house drummer's face. He had the best seat in the house!

Max definitely was better than Buddy it seems

John Bonham dedicated solos to Max Roach. I can see why. What a great drummer.
I love the enthusiasm of the band. They’re so happy to play with him!
He played with so much color and so silky smooth he was really beautiful!
One of the all time greats.
