A buddy of mine bought a new victory impulse tt from victory right after they announced they were going out of business. This was a $20k electric bike that had 6 gears, you shifted it but you could just stop in 3rd and take off in 3rd if you liked. He only paid $6k for it at a dealer that just wanted to dump it. For $6k it was a GREAT bike. My buddy commuted into work on interstate in a major usa city to our downtown offices. Very typical for him to get 70-80 miles range MAX, but he was going 70-90mph on those rides to/fro work. Bike was fun and ahead of its time. He kept it one year and sold it for $8500 to someone in cali. He let a bunch of us ride it and it was a hoot 0-50...just a rocket...but really took some time from 70mph to 100...i mean a lot of time with wind resistance....handle great, nice and narrow and smooth. My point on this post is can am needs to get price down...for $13k I'm getting a naked super sport every time with tons more power and no range limitations.

Love your bike reviews Abhi. Battery bikes man I’m just not there. Maybe a small dirtbike so I can ride my neighbors property and be quiet. Bigger ones are to expensive with not enough range.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! Agreed that a small electric dirtbike would make sense for a lot of riders just to have some stealthy fun with but unfortunately it's just not the same as a rip-snorting gas-powered bike.
By now everyone has seen that electric bikes have incredible torque and can blow gas bikes off the line but the Can-Ams are capped to about 47 horsepower for Euro A2 limitations and it just feels underwhelming compared to what it's capable of. With that said, it makes a lot of sense for a lot of urban European riders but I think Can-Am is going to struggle to find buyers in the US. We'll see if I'm right or wrong early next year!

Look at the range. 80 moles in the city. You can get that with a Zero FXE and pay much less than 10k.

If it were only priced closer to a Surron Ultra Bee than a KTM 990 Duke. I would be interested in a low noise mini Adv for the trail poaching options near me.

I’m really excited about the origin. I live mere minutes away from hundreds of miles (with lots of RV 240v sources) gravel roads and jeep trails. I think the design is really elegant and I think can-am did a fantastic job as an inaugural launch into EV moto. I do have concerns about that large screen though, lots of rock slinging and rough environs on such a massive screen size. Is the screen set up with any kind of durability layer?

Fantastic news, I'm excited to hear from people that can take advantage of what these bikes have to offer. I don't have an answer for you about the screen but I will reach out to Can-Am employees and get back to you!

Look, I'll be upfront. I'm not an electric bike fan but hey, know thy enemy, haha!
But of course the inevitability of things is that ICE will become a thing of the past eventually so we're looking at what one day will be all you can buy.
Curious though Abhi about the battery temps you mentioned.
How hot are we talking here? Like, could you still rest your hand on it?

I admitttedly did not put my hand on it but they were over 100 degrees F. It was a HOT day in Texas!
Optimal temperatures for them are roughly 70 to 85.

I say this as a former Can-Am motocross racer, EV motorcycles are not ready for prime time. The small battery pack technology allowing at least 110 real world mileage is not there. These 2 bikes when ridden at real world speeds at best is going 65-70 miles per charge. That’s ok if they cost $6, 000 it’s not ok at $17,000!
Can-Am , bring out the ROTAX ICE with a side of EV 😎 3:01

If I am here to watch this video I am obviously interested. Why starting out so negative? It immediately takes someone on the fence and wants to jump in and get a BRP Can-Am Origin? Try and be a little positive ok? Just a little. Don’t do what Consumer Reports did to Tesla at the beginning.
