Your worksheets are perfect! I can do a certain amount of math in my head, but then I forget to write it down🥴🥴😳😳 so have to do it again!! I especially like the one that works out how much fabric is needed (I a,ways buy more anyway, but it’s nice to know ahead of time!!!). Another great block that will work well with my guild in making charity quilts - we many times only have a small amount of fabric to work with left over from another quilt.

It's amazing what we can do with the small amounts of fabric! A scrappy version of this quilt would look great. Thanks again for watching.

Question I’m sewing border strips together before cutting - I’ve seen it done both ways Sewing end to end or ends sewn diagonally - do you Carol have a preference or does it really matter in the long run? I don’t make quilts for competition so it doesn’t really matter, but I do know thst diagonal seams takes just a little bit more fabric. Also would you do the same for binding - end to end or diagonal)? I don’t think I have enough fabric for my granddaughter’s quilt to make binding all one fabric so I’m considering doing the scrappy way (it’s a scrappy colored quilt so …..😄). Happy to have answers from everyone on this list!! Thanks so much!!!

Great question! My preference is to use a diagonal seam for several reasons. First, especially for binding, the seam gets really bulky when you fold the strip in half and fold it from the front to the back. All those seam allowances are just stacked into one thick bump! The diagonal seam distributes the thickness so the stacking does not occur.
The bump happens with borders as well but it is not as think. For borders, I think the diagonal seam looks nicer. If the fabric design is busy, this isn't a big problem, but for solid or solid looking fabrics, I think the straight seam across is distracting. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
