Wow... the people willing to tear down such a FANTASTIC trumpet player because they don't like the genre he CHOOSES to perform. Before you're too critical of Chris, you should go see him live. The trumpet is an extension of his thoughts, something we ALL aim to achieve.

I saw Chris live at a very small venue right after he released his first album and have loved him ever since. His music touches my soul unlike any other artist I’ve heard. Always look forward every year to hearing him at one of our local wineries.

Nice interview Mike. I played trumpet for Buddy 80/81 and just had a surprise visit from Mike Lewis.

"IF" you could do "anything" on "this level", in any human endeavor man has ever attempted (and than some), you would not have made "this" comment...……..don't worry....do you

I like how he can't put the trumpet down and uses it as some kind of prop.

not to get too deep but i think he's married to it. guy never had a wife & kids. his commitment is audible in his playing.

..not an prop...more like an "extension" of self.

Almost hit thumbs down when it was mentioned he dated Katie Couric - god, what a downer. a great musician scrapes the bottom of the barrell.

Don't hate, maybe they see something in each other that works for them. You can't chose who you fall for, but you can chose what to do after you realize you've fallen. But what do I know, I'm a bass player.

"Smooth Jazz" folks. You can't classify him as jazz, it's just too different. Everything about the band is different as well.
