Nice video. Squirrel missed showing a few things about the game in this first look such as how right-mouse pulls the pole back, gold coins are earned through leveling, challenges, and "unique" fish, and every day at midnight you can choose to stay longer or leave.
it would be cool to see a series of this. for example you could spend the week at a place fishing and just film everything that happens and then upload each day of the fishing each day IRL. it would be like a big fishing trip.
this sim has great potential, i am an experienced angler living in Southern Ontario, Canada, where we fish for many species. One suggestion would be to have sound effects when fighting the fish, if the drag is allowing line to be let out, there usually is a lot of sound with it, in real life.
The times to catch Bass on here is definitely wrong unless it's rainy if you ask me. 10AM to 4PM is like the worst times in most places. Not to mention the bait set up unless you are fishing with minnows.

A real truck driver will be face palming at Euro Truck Simulator and a real member of a counter terrorist unit will be face palming at Rainbow Six Siege. Ultimately a video game can never really represent reality. I mean come on it is a game.

I fish in real life for over 60 years. This game is pretty good. And kudos to Squirrel for this very informative video. Very nicely presented for someone not into fishing that much.

To fish you can simply buy the equipment and go do it. I would rather do something IRL than in a simulator. If you really wanted to go fishing a few times this year you could. Not the same with driving a truck or flying a plane etc.

In Michigan your pike would be to small to keep under the size limit, you would have to throw that one back. Funny how carp are the thing that a lot of people fish for in the UK. So many restrictions there. Come to Michigan Paul, we will go out on Lake Michigan on a charter boat.

I looked around a bit, but didn't see any response to your comment about the funny, green piece of clothing at the start of the video.. As a fly fisherman, I recognize the thing as a (commonly called) Fly Vest. As fly fisher folk do not generally carry around "tackle boxes", they will carry a few fly boxes, instead. These fly boxes are, quite often, carrying flies which target different fish (Trout, Salmon, etc... {fresh water species} and Striped Bass, Bluefish, etc... {salt water species}). Loads of fun on a light rod!

Fishing Planet actually helped me in fishing in rl because I was really terrible but a game like this can really help you and correct you in the way you are fishing
My nephew always like to watch me play my PC or try to play it himself. Unfortunately he isn't allowed to play mature games anymore due to some trouble he got in. He loves to fish and hunt sometimes so I think this'll be perfect for him when he comes up. He is 8 years old by the way.
A casting rid is designed to cast obviously, but that's not why it's called a casting rod. It's called a casting rod because it is fitted for a baitcaster reel
stringers hang in the water. as long as you just troll nice the fish just cruise around with you, they cant get off if you hook the jaw. we pull them out while we move and immediatly drop them back in the water when we stop.

Hey man, this game appears to replicate real fishing really well and since it does, I recommend giving the lake at 36:18 a go around 5-6 in the morning instead of 10 am. You may have tried this and I missed it, but if you haven't I'd give it a try. In general, where I fish on the Great Lakes, the fish come out hard just before sunrise.
As with Euro Truck, it's a relaxing game. I see this game has been updated a lot since i last looked at it. Would love to see some more videos of Fishing Planet

This game calls the fishing spot in Alaska "Kaniq Creek" which is pretty close to what it's referencing: Knik River. Also pronounced "Kanik"

lul, 1,3kg pike is VERY small, about 3-4 is the normal size here in sweden i'd say, but they can grow a bit over 20 kilos

when you fight a fish in the game and in real life you need to raise the rod tip and it will tire the fish out quicker than having the rod tip down🐟
