When keeping it real goes wrong. I love hiphop as much as the next but seeing the glorification of gang/crime/guns from rap stars and how a growing portion of their highly impressionable fanbase eats it up makes me feel like a white guy supporting something that further decimates the black community. I grew up listening to stuff like Public Enemy and Nas, guys who had lyrical skills and weren't rapping about all this 'gang gang' bs. While that type of hiphop is entertainment to me, for a growing number of black people it's prison sentences and families torn apart. Who knows how many young impressional kids have made awful life decisions with even worse consequences as a result of being inspired by people like Young Thug. And you can say that's not his fault and use a defense like "lots of people listen to Young Thug and don't commit crimes or join gangs", people can deflect all they want but the truth is that kids look up to these guys, they idolize them, they dress like them, they rap like them, they want to emulate them on social media, etc. If the evidence backs up the charges against Thug, then he's gonna end up spending quite a long time in prison for his life choices. That's on him. He could have and should have distanced himself from all those guys as soon as he had the money to, but instead he chose a different path and look where it led him.

But it is not easy for everyone, and I strongly suggest you study psychology to learn more about this topic (specifically nature vs nurture), because it truly is not that easy. It's like telling someone who is addicted to smoking to just stop smoking, it's not always that simple. Also studies show that people who are in and out of the legal system in the US are more likely to end up in the same spot, which is why the recidivism rate in this country is at 77%. I am also happy that you got out of that situation, and that it was easy for you, but just because that was your personal experience doesn't mean that you can discredit everyone else's.

This case was stepped up from yesterday...they just punted it to Superior Court (the State that is) knowing dam well bail was going to be denied by this Judge. the Judge was fumbling, looking for reasons to deny bail..then finally the judge says 'well, he may commit additional felonies -so keep him jail,'

When you see the decisions made by these judges you realize that they are very much working side by side with state prosecutors. You are not going to be treated like you are innocent. This judge just used this man’s success in the music industry against him. He is extremely well known and could be picked up anywhere in the country easily because he is so recognizable. Then the judge uses a case that is over 4 years old that this guy has been trying to get resolved but the state is not moving on it. Somehow that works against this guy in this case. He has never been convicted of a felony. He has paid good money for his attorney. But guess what, the state assistant DA can stand up and say a couple of things that they say against everyone and the judge agrees with him. You do not have a chance in our courts today.

I did 37 hours on Rice Street. I counted every last one because it is HELL! It's overcrowded, they didn't feed us and we slept all over the floor....couldn't even get blankets or use the tv. It was the worst experience of my life and it wasn't even two days and they denied these boys bond. I pray for them man.

That was not true so the DA dropped the charge and got me on a first offenders program so I got lucky but I would not wish Fulton County Jail on nobody.
