FedNow is a new instant payment service that is being developed by the Federal Reserve Banks of the United States. Once implemented, the service will allow individuals and businesses to send and receive instant payments 24/7/365 through their financial institutions. This will be a significant improvement over the current payment system, which can take several days for funds to be transferred between financial institutions. FedNow is expected to enhance the speed, safety, and efficiency of the U.S. payment system, while also providing broader access to instant payments for consumers and businesses. The service is currently in development, and the Federal Reserve has not yet announced a specific launch date.
