My wife and I tried to not-budget the first several years of our marriage. That WAS a bad mindset, and we couldn't figure out why we couldn't save money. The Every Dollar Budget saved our financial lives! Agreed . . . it has been the most FREEING life to know and plan where every dollar is used.
Budgeting isn't stopping yourself from buying things you want.. It's simply telling yourself how much you can spend on things you want AFTER things you need.
Budgeting is not like a diet, budgeting is like working out and eating healthy. Maybe you don't want to do it, but if you want to maintain your financial health then you have to. I'm glad George is doing this because young people need to see that listening to TikTok morons is not the way to go.
@@cgasucks Yeah now sit down and make yourself a budget. Come on work the pen work the pen. Write and calculate, write and calculate. Feel the money going to the right places. 😂
Finally, a Ramsey response video to a TikTok video that actually does have horrible financial advice. Budgeting only puts you in a bad mindset if you allow yourself to have that bad mindset. If anything, it forces you to prioritize things in your life.
I love budgeting! When my expenses for the month are all paid for and I see how much money I have left to invest, spend, or give, I sleep really well at night. Don't kid yourself..........budgeting is the way to go.
True. Sadly, he probably doesn't care as long as he can still play financial advisor on TikTok. It's amazing how social media empowers such misguided individuals.
One of the first things I did after my husband passed away was rework my budget. I needed to know that everything was going to be ok (financially). Budgets are a blessing.
Budgeting is a wonderful tool if you use it right. My wife and I didn’t budget the first seven years of our marriage. Then we started. It took awhile to get used to. That’s been 35 years since we started budgeting and now we can do what we want. Never thought we’d have the money and assets we have. I’ll just say we don’t have to worry whether we can pay the bills. Let your money work for you.
I think the kid on tik tok has a point. If you call your eating plan a diet, just means you are gonna stop at some point, instead you should call it your new life style, same goes for budget. Your budget should not be just "budget" it should be your lifestyle. My lifestyle is living under my means.
I hate when people say that "diet" is a bad word. The word "diet" literally means what someone eats. Everyone is on a diet. Some people on a seafood diet. Others, a see-food diet. Everyone's diets are different, but they are still on a diet.
SPOT ON! Stellar advice! * budgeting is telling your money where to go rather than wondering where it went 💥 * a budget is permission to spend 💥 * a budget is the most freedom you can have with money because you know where it’s going every single month 💥 * you’re allowed to have nice things just don’t let those nice things have you 💥
My counter to this guy's argument is a quote I saw in King Richard..... if you fail to plan then you plan to fail..... the budget is a plan and will set you up for success, yes you may have to hold off on getting things because they don't fit into the budget, but when you can say it's mine and I don't owe anyone anything, that's a much better feeling that asking if you even have the money in your account to make the payment.....
He definitely should have thought out his analogy more. The similarity truly lies in making lifestyle changes instead of short-term restrictions...nutritionally and financially.
I remember the budget rule. 50/30/20 Essentially things 50 percents , wants 30 percents and 20 percents for savings. I didn't really use a budget plan. 😕 I just pay for the house, electricity, car and food. I hardly buy anything new unless it broke or is worn out. I rarely going out like restaurant or movie or concerts events. Then whatever is left I put it in the savings.
I like these rebuttal videos. Really thought TicTok guy was being facetious, just looking at how he was dressed indicated he's a bum not dealing with reality, overgrown man-child. A good laugh for the day. Also like when Ramsey/co-hosts talk about articles of current financial situations, like food inflation, rent/house increases, etc.
The only bad thing about the budget is that we spend, spend, spend at the beginning of the month, and then feel like we're broke the second half of the month as we try to not go over budget. Then the new month starts and we spend a bunch again like someone gasping for air after holding their breath. I like the budget though, because it does help us realize we need to rein in the spending. We're not really living paycheck to paycheck, but sometimes it feels like we are.
"failing to plan" isn't just a plan to fail, it's also managing the expectations for when you inevitably do fail. You can't be disappointed if you have no expectation of success.
I have to disagree, it’s not how many calories it’s the type of calorie. There is a difference between 100 calories of coke and 100 calories of salad. Just as there are goos things to buy, (assets like a stock) and bad things to buy, non income producing asset (new car)
yes TikTok advice is horrible, but RUclips advice is not horrible . . . Why listen to some random guru on TikTok when you can listen to some random guru on RUclips
Its amazing the correlations between food and money when you really think about it. Earning is like working out and eating is like spending money. Budgeting is just an intentional correlation between the two.
I don't budget. The reason why is because my monthly expenses are very low compared to my income. So i don't need to. But most people are not in my situation. I did budget before though when i was making less money.
You aren't restricted by your budget, you are restricted by your income (and the amount that lenders will give you if you are dumb enough to get into debt). A budget just tells you where your money is going. I make enough where my budget on things like food, gas, eating out, ect is just slightly higher than the average of what I usually spend on those things each month. The only area where I "restrict" myself is splitting money between savings/investing and fun money. Yes, I could make a restrictive budget and put more into savings/investing if I wanted to, but I don't. I like my bougie foods at the grocery store and spending $7 on overpriced coffee as a treat once or twice a month. And I can buy those things because they are in my budget.
It’s not about limiting ourselves per say, it’s about only buying what you can afford while also tracking and meeting against your goals. There is a vast difference. Feel bad for the Lady that meets this man if he does not change.
You can have nice things if you have the money for them. The only debt we ever had was for our properties, which are paid off. If we want something expensive, we save up for it, no matter how long it takes.
Let me say this from my own experience. After listening to Dave Ramsey & Anthony O’Neal, I now feel confident when it comes to budgeting. I can’t believe this kid said budgeting is stupid. NOT having a budget is stupid because you have no clue where the money went.
Also, a budget category is a number you control, a number you know that works within what you earn. Who says you can’t allocate money to clothing and buy that pair of shoes you wanted. Who said u can’t buy shoes??
I like budgets because they hold me accountable and that’s a major problem in the world today, Not being accountable. Yes, it’s hard and painful to say it’s your fault, but it’s much better for one, in the long run.
I tried several budget apps over the years before I found The Ramsey Show. All of them I'd end up not looking at it because everything would automatically track so I would forget to check it and eventually delete it. Everydollar is amazing because it forces you to manually track all purchases which causes you to be more intential about setting a budget and sticking to it.
Random guy: “then you finally breakdown and buy those shoes and feel bad” Yeah… if you can’t afford to buy things and you buy them you should feel bad! Feeling bad protects us (or tries too) from doing stupid things.
Losing weight is more than just caloric intake. But technically it's true because if you eat nothing you will definitely lose weight lol. If you take someone who eats 2000 calories of fruit vs someone who eats 2000 calories of soda and cookies. Same height. They will have different weight and levels when you check their blood. The type of food makes a huge difference
What people don’t get about a budget and I have learned this over the years doing a budget is that iCan make envelopes for anything I want if I want a restaurant envelope if I want a clothing envelope it doesn’t matter I can still budget for those things and not want.
I don't budget. I first save/invest a specified percentage (15%) of my monthly income and spend as little as possible of what remains. No budgeting necessary, unless I'm saving for a special purchase.
Before I starting budgeting I always had money and then be broke . Started budgeting and now I feel so good knowing where every dollar goes . It's uneasy in the beginning but it's so worth it. Thanks Dave Ramsey 👍 😘
No budgeting is determining how much money goes where. Oh can budget money for shoes. You are telling this money goes to shows. That’s budgeting. This guy is a nut.
Unrelated…why do people feel the need to say RIGHT after everything they say? “I need to convince you I’m correct, right? If I don’t say it after every sentence you won’t agree with me, right?” It’s so unnecessary.
I agree with the advice except for the beard... Some men like to shave their beards. It seems they also look younger. Or probably their partners like it. It's like some men like muscular women and some men like natural women. Some people like macho guys and some people like humble guys who cook cookies and play the piano. Everybody is different which is good.
Like Jocko says, "discipline equals freedom" - George is spot on with this talk here
Actually freedom equals freedom
JOCKO!!! 👍👍

Budgeting isn't stopping yourself from buying things you want.. It's simply telling yourself how much you can spend on things you want AFTER things you need.
I would take it a step further. Budgeting is you figuring out HOW you will get to buy what you want.
Budgeting is not like a diet, budgeting is like working out and eating healthy. Maybe you don't want to do it, but if you want to maintain your financial health then you have to. I'm glad George is doing this because young people need to see that listening to TikTok morons is not the way to go.
Yep and just like working out and eating healthy. When you have done great for two months go live and eat out for one meal.
Short term pain....long term gain..
@@cgasucks Yeah now sit down and make yourself a budget. Come on work the pen work the pen. Write and calculate, write and calculate. Feel the money going to the right places. 😂
"eating healthy" is a diet. Diet means what a person shoves in their mouth. I wasted a lot of time fearing "diet" until I chose to step up and learn.
Great analogy there!!
If you want to see the outcome of not having a budget just take a look at the US Debt.
No a fair comparison cause they spend other people's money.
@@kirapoodle
exactly , the people that squander our money are savvy enough to become multi millionaires by spending their own money very sparingly !
I think it's disgusting just how weak we have become as a society
Weak, anti-intellectual, gluttonous. Very dangerous combination.
You can thank social media for that one
Finally, a Ramsey response video to a TikTok video that actually does have horrible financial advice. Budgeting only puts you in a bad mindset if you allow yourself to have that bad mindset. If anything, it forces you to prioritize things in your life.
Correct!
I like George bringing something new to The Ramsey Show.
George is the future of Dave’s radio show. This is the guy for the next 25 years. Great at what he does.
I agree. George always felt like his protégée to me. New age Dave.
I love budgeting! When my expenses for the month are all paid for and I see how much money I have left to invest, spend, or give, I sleep really well at night.
Don't kid yourself..........budgeting is the way to go.
For some is a change in mindset. Worth it but hard at first.
I’m curious what that guy was going to suggest after budgeting sucks.
This kid has quickly disqualified himself from any financial planning career for the rest of his life 🤣

Discipline yourself for a while so you can be successful for the rest of your life.
I have a rule. Never listen to people who finish their sentences with "Right?". So Mr Tik Tok breaks that rule... Right?
Since I turned budgeting into a game, I can't stop winning!
Self discipline and consistency are the keys to financial independence. And that requires budgeting! Delayed gratification is beneficial
At this point they’re making the videos just to troll George🤣
Budgeting is the best thing that ever happened to me. Started in 2019 and the financial peace I now have is an amazing blessing.
"And of course you gotta see what's happening over on TikTok." Wrong, sir.
My daughter lost 80 pounds with no diet, just food discipline. She also paid off her student loan and her car. Money discipline. It's all discipline.
OMG that guy is a fool. The budget guy not GK lol.
*going to check my budget now. I feel great when I live within my budget.

This is just a sign of the times. Culture is preaching anti-accountability in all phases of life.
It’s so bad that Dave wasn’t going to personally dignify the TikTok vid with a response
Why does George say the say joke, “ oh it’s these guys who can’t grow hair😂
I cannot believe how weak we as people have gotten.
No budgeting is determining how much money goes where. Oh can budget money for shoes. You are telling this money goes to shows. That’s budgeting. This guy is a nut.
Is there anymore to the budgeting video that we weren’t shown or was that the full length video?
I agree with the tik tok 😂 but I get where George is coming from
This kid’s logic was, doing stuff is hard and you will probably fail so why bother even trying to do stuff
The people who don’t like budgeting typically haven’t done it long enough to see their bank account balances go up.
No such thing as terrible will power. You either have it or you don't.

Horrible advice from the tiktok dude. People who lose weight follow diet. Discipline is needed to be successfull!!
Can’t grow facial hair 😂
Way to put a stake in that man’s heart
This is because the mindset of Gen Z is “I’ll get what I want when I want it” ….
Is the Dave Ramsey Show on Tik Toc yet? I am not so I don't know. If not you millennials need to do it!!!
I budget because I want nice things. Once everything is paid to include savings-I can go nuts with the money left.
There sure has been a lot of George lately.
Tik Tok is like your hood’s Burger King for the soul.
So the budget isn't the problem the problem is you don't have the intestinal fortitude to change you lifestyle and easily influenced
4:56 I’m quoting that one myself 👍🏼
People like the road of least resistance.
You had me when you said Tik Tok.
It reminds me of the deconstruction movement in the church; bad advise designed to lead people astray.
We only saw part of the video. I would like to see what that guy had as an alternative to budgeting.
