    Brilliant. I use High5 Energy drink all the time. Over that last decade, the price for 2.2kg has gone up significantly. This is what YT videos should all be. Fantastic, thank you for sharing. Going to give it a go! Thank you

      Ahh yes I've used that before, I think the price of all 'supplements' are going up along with everything else! Thanks so much for watching.

    I use a mix of glucose and fructose as this mix is beneficial for absorption and gut comfort. 50:50 mix does the trick as I usually don't go higher than 60g of sugars in the bottle. Pinch of (coarse, this would get expensive if I'd use the flakes😂) salt from Guérande (lots of minerals). Dash of lemon juice for flavouring and I'm good to go. This flavour mix works even if warm, which is not the case for many other store bought sports drinks. Way cheaper and I can easily modify flavour with the sugar content.

    This is basically what i do. Sometimes i use the low sodium salt that includes potassium chloride and sodium chloride. Freeze dried fruit powders are available in the baking section of some stores and make great options for flavor. Citric acid is in the candy making section and makes things taste like lemon.

    I just use apple juice diluted with mineral water to get to the proper sugar concentration. This is usually one part juice and two parts water and if you feel like it a pinch of salt. Without the salt it is a very common drink in germany and austria and you can even buy it ready made at the supermarket.

    I'm surprised this is still news to many people. Some sports drinks literally list "sugar" as the main ingredient.
    I add citric acid in powder form because i got tired of squeezing lemons. When I do 80+g per bidon I often replace some sugar with maltodextrin (found online in powder form in 5kg bags) because it's less sweet.
    I once did an 8h ride and diluted 500g of carbs (sugar and malto) into a giant gel bottle with acid and salt. Worked surprisingly well. For me the acid is the most important, without it the taste is so sweet it's disgusting/ nauseous.

      Great tip! How well you can stomach things as you put more sugar in is an important thing to take into account!

    I use the same formula for my home made sports drink. Tho I usually dissolve it in hot water so it's not grainy. Also, I immediately brush my teeth after my workout, you can totally feel the sugar build-up on your teeth after few sips especially on a longer ride. 😂

    Can i use this for gym? Session when i am going for pr in squats or deadlifts or bench press?

    • @JonnyKibble
      @JonnyKibble  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I don’t see why not! We don’t require as much in terms of carbs or sodium for weights based sessions as they focus more on neuromuscular output, but a bit of extra energy wont hurt!

    Does the succrose split off the fructose?? I thought you needed Maltodextrine or dextrose

    • @JonnyKibble
      @JonnyKibble  4 месяца назад

      Sucrose (table sugar) is made up of glucose & fructose :)

    • @_Tp___

      But sucrose isn't just a mixture of glucose and fructose. It is a disaccharide made up of those two components and is a different molecule.

    how do you mange for longer rides ?>3h do you make a very high concentrated one for energy and other bottle for hydraton? as im using only 1 bottle, after 1 hour i need to stop somewhere to refill it. cheers

    • @JonnyKibble
      @JonnyKibble  4 месяца назад

      Yes exactly that! If I'm over 3 hrs I'll likely be stopping at a cafe for some food too so that helps in terms of fuelling! Definitely recommend you get a second bottle for longer rides :) Thanks for watching!

    Is it also possible to put 80gr of sugar into one bottle or would it mess up your stomach? Because once you ride longer you need tons of carbohydrates and modern sportsdrink are able to go up to 80gr of carbohydrates into one bottle, which is quiet cool espacially when you plan longer rides without stopping somewhere. But these drinks obviously are super expensive.

    • @yeet1991
      @yeet1991 4 месяца назад

      For longer rides I put sugar and maltodextrin in my bottles.

      I often do 120g/sugar on 1 bottle and another bidon for pure water. I just make sure to take small sips and consume the bottled mix in 2 hours instead of 1.
