I am the mother of the groom, and all the officers in the sword arch were friends and groomsmen from the Naval Academy with Michael. There were others-best man-his twin and best friend who were not in the sword arch.
Call me a perfectionist but they weren't given a command to turn left when going down the stairs and wasn't given a command to turn right when going up. They should of been marching I'm place on those stares until they got a command.
@Megan Wilkinson Ya I knoe about the Marine Corps being under the Navy Department. But I didnt know why there is one marine corps officer suddenly together with the navy officers in the sword arch but since u said not enough personnel. I dont really know the tradition sword arch and everything.
Some USMC officers are graduates of the Naval Academy. Since ensigns are the lowest-ranking commissioned officers in the Navy, I would imagine that the sword detail came from the groom's best friends at the Academy.

Since the groom is an ensign, it is more likely that all of the groomsmen were friends at the Naval Academy. Some USNA grads serve as officers in the USMC.

The guy with the black coat is a marine is dress whites.
That is the "Blue-White Dress" uniform and is the summer dress uniform for USMC officers.

you mean dress blues not dress whites, white is Navy blue is Marine Corps
They sometimes wear dress blues in the Navy during winter
Since the Army switched to blue dress uniforms, all four branches wear "dress blues" at least part of the year.
Marines wear Dress Whites also. I believe only Officers can.
