No, Damiano it's not strict: sometimes it's difficult to get the many shades of our language.
Damiano and the others were telling Thomas that they undestand that he's not feeling fine after traveling back and forth half of Italy for the exam, that he failed too. So Thomas was in no shape to play guitar: They were just telling Thomas that he had to tell them he wasn't ok so they could have postponed the recoding and there was no problem with it.

Damiano yes he was sometimes a little pushy, but not overstepping and it clearly had a good effect on them, they became more close, focussed. Also, from the beginning all the attention was mostly in him, like it was now and that also takes a toll since he had all the responsability on him, but also because that's who he is as a person. Now he delegates more of the responsability, also he was generous from the beginning as a frontman since he always pushed them to the spotlight. I loved your MJ quote such amazing artist. P.S. my fav hairstyle of Damiano is the medium hair, although that boy can rock anything🙂🙃

The part where Ethan says he came to the decision that he wanted to be a musician, not just a drummer. Yeah, I felt that.

All of them comes across as very mature for their age. Vic talking about pressure and personal growth - geez… What was I doing at 17? 😅

I loved when Damiano said he never had a plan B, and it's true when he was a child he wrote "when I grow up I wanna be a rockstar" (I think he wrote it for school).

Did you see what an emotion when Thomas creates the melodic riff of LE PAROLE LONTANE? did you already reacted to the LIVE from Radio Italia of the song with English subtitles? Great vocals

I’ve missed these videos! but yes Damiano seems very pushy a lot of the times; but he’s aware he’s like that. I think he just wants the best for them and it comes off ‘aggressive’ or more like a strict parent lol. But the other members aren’t afraid to snap back at him if he’s being extra. also, when you’re done with this documentary they have a more recent one for their tour Il Ballo Della Vita, named after the album “ The Dance Of Life” (Which Damiano’s chest tattoo is for) This is the album they are making in this documentary.

Damiano definitely came across as a perfectionist and a bit of a control freak in this documentary but what strikes me is how self aware he was about it. He already knew it was a flaw he had. He was putting himself and by extension, his bandmates under a lot of pressure but he didn't know how to address it.
It's so funny that he acknowledged feeling older than his years, and that his confidence could sometimes turn him into a bit of an overbearing asshole! For the record, I definitely don't think he's an asshole at all, he seems like a really kind guy, he's just a very driven person who's still figuring himself out. It looks to me like he's beginning to find the perfect balance between control and letting go. He seems far more comfortable sharing the spotlight with his bandmates than he did a few years ago and seems to have total trust and faith in Vic, Thomas and Ethan to carry full sections of performances and to carry him at times. I like that he's also happy to step back and let Vic lead on many of the interviews and listens without interrupting because he values her thoughts and opinions. It really shows that he has put a lot of work on keeping his ego in check.
Personally I don't think it's possible to have a truly great frontman without some of these traits, they're 2 sides of the same coin. The same thing that makes them an exciting and magnetic presence to be around also makes them a little bit intense to live with on a daily basis.
I think the key is learning to dial up or tone down these specific personality traits so that they can be an advantage in any given situation.
You can definitely see a change in the band dynamics from then to now, other members of the band have definitely grown in confidence, particularly Thomas, when you consider the way he performed at the festivals last week you could have mistaken him for the frontman of the band. Damiano seems to be consciously showing generosity, humbling himself and drawing attention to Vic, Thomas and Ethan when it's appropriate which I really respect and admire because there are very few frontmen who do this.
I believe Damiano mentioned in an interview that he saw/is still seeing a therapist which would make a lot of sense because he has made so much progress in a relatively short space of time. I commend anyone with the guts to work on their own flaws to improve the way they relate to others, it's a very mature path to take.

I really love Damiano and the way he pushed them to step up and also speak up. Also, his generosity letting them do their thing and pushing the light onto everyone. He is just a magnetic presence, that even when he lays back the attention is on him and je knows it.

@@darthcygnus7692 that's how I interpreted that scene too. I think he just wants and expects clear communication, at times it can come off as a bit overbearing but I think he always has good intentions and wants everyone to succeed. They've gotten this far as a band because they are very disciplined and focused when it comes to work but there's a balance to strike.

    • @thyop89
      @thyop89 3 года назад +4

@@danyelena9782 totally agree, I think he wants to nurture and encourage, it's in his nature and you're right, no matter where he is on stage he draws the eye of the crowd just by the way he stands and his demeanor. He's born to do this.

Thank you for another great video, Ang!
Is it just me or does there seem to be an echo on the video?
Thomas is the only one still at school at the time.
Hairstyle: I prefer Damiano with longer hair, but I like both the hairstyle he had in this documentary and the hair he had at Eurovision.
I think that Damiano came off a bit 'harsh' in this part. But I also think that it's great that he acknowledges that he can be rude, even though he thought it was necessary at the time. But it also seems like it's a matter of control, in terms of clear communication and so (like if you don't feel up for doing what you're supposed to, just say so and we work with that).
The group dynamic has changed for the better I believe. Like, I still love how they were back then, but they seem more connected, more relaxed now than they did back then. Also, it seems like as this documentary progress that members like Thomas and Ethan gets more confident and lead more than in the beginning. Maybe I am over-analysing it, but that's my current thought.
The black thing on Damiano's shoulder looks like sports tape

They seem to have worked through their issues as a band more since then, Damiano and Vic don't seem to have such a stressful relationship anymore cuz they've all grown as people since then which is expected, they were only teens then. Damiano and Vic have also said that they've gone to therapy, they didn't specifically say what for but I definitely think it had a positive impact on them as people and getting along with each other as a band. A lot of their issues seemed to just revolve around bad communication so that was probably something that would have improved as they got older anyway.

I don t think vic and dam had a stressful relationship...even here vic says he is the most important person in her life. More like they were both very involved and wanted the best for the band...also very stubborn and outspoken

Hello! I was waiting for this video, thank you very much!
I believe that Damiano with the guys (in particular with Thomas and Victoria) acts as a sort of "father". In the sense that he expects the best of them because, of course, it is also his career, but also because he knows they can do it. He knows they can overcome certain "limits". So sometimes, as happens with parents, you start to get tired of their attitude when in reality they are doing everything to support you and make you give your best.
Of course, I've seen all your making-of videos and actually I had already seen the documentary quite a while ago, as well as the videos of the Italian and European tour for "Il ballo della vita".
    Very interesting contents.
    have a good day :)

Don't know if it's reaction material, but if you're curious to see how they were while they were at xfactor, there are some vlogs they used to make in between episodes. They're full of jokes and they all look so young and unexperienced. As an example, here is one of them with sub eng: ruclips.net/video/jmksr56B8kQ/видео.html

I feel like damiano felt a lot of pressure because of his personality, the fact that he was seen as the leader of the band by a lot of people, and also the fact he's a bit older. although it's only a couple of years difference at that age you mature so quickly that being 17 and being 19 feel so different (I'm 19 rn and have matured so much in the past 2 years, it's a super turbulent time even without having to deal with what these guys did)
