- After searching for other icy angling opportunities Jor-Dan and I came u short.. We found some more ice, but it was riskier than the drying cove. Let's be honest, the drying cove is already risky enough. I'm a man of my word, and mentioned a catch and cook at the beginning of the previous video so.. We returned and HARVESTED some tasty crappie fillets to guzzle down. Yum yum in my tum tum.

Most people would be surprised how much weight ice can hold. A few years ago our fish and game department posted 'Don't drive a pickup truck on less than 4 inches of ice.'! I am freaked out by walking on less!

Once we went out real early one morning and ice was great out in the middle. After fishing till noon ,we packed up and started walking back in. 100 yards from bank, it seemed like walking on a water bed mattress. Tight lines brother. Your shore lunch looked great.

I'll fish 2 or 3 in of good clear ice on backwater that's shaded out most of the day and out of the wind. But i mainly fish the Mississippi so if it's got current ice can change quickly. I stay off all main channel ice. I just fish panfish anyways. And try cooking your fish in Peanut Oil. It just tastes better.

Just like Spencer, all the crappies I keep last year and the few kitties were soaked in Frank's first three whisker seeker fry crisp mix, I have some in the freezer to eat which may be soon

Have you seen the crime pays but botany doesn't channel? Tattoo inches and cm up your fingers and wrist. Hand can be used for smaller measurements, while your forearm can go around to 15-18". Perfect for measuring timmies and don't need another tool with ya.

Should always put the guard back on your auger blade. I have been ice fishing my whole life in Vermont. Accidents still hurt, and that's an accident waiting to happen kid. Protect your kids, pets and friends. Pets it happens the most to, getting sliced open because someone did not put the guard on the auger blade.
