    For purposes of PLE, should active phase, as far abnormal labor is concerned, be changed to 6 cm instead of 4 cm? In the latest edition of Williams, it is mentioned that active phase should start at 6 cm instead of 4 cm. But this is only mentioned once in the book, and all other topics about active labor continue to refer to it as 4 cm (like the table for abnormal labor).

    • @inairabon9528
      @inairabon9528  3 года назад

      for PLE purposes i think its still 4cm, because i think PLE will base it on the latest published edition of williams...but for obgyn residents, the philippine clinical practice guidelines will update it to 6cm

    Hi doc. I have a question. If decel is still in station -1 for 2 hours (6th to 8th hour), yet 10th hr is in st. 0 and 11th is st. +1, is it considered normal labor and not an arrest?

    • @inairabon9528
      @inairabon9528  3 года назад +2

      it depends on the cervical dilatation. consider the general pattern of the labor curve you generated, and the criteria for abnormal labor patterns before u can label it dystocia

    I have a question po, doc. What is the diff. between secondary arrest of dilation from protracted active-phase dilation? Since both of them needs to go through active phase (6cm). Yung secondary arrest po ba dahil di siya naka reach sa decel phase na 9cm? Salamat po. Very helpful yung videos niyo!

  • @adam95710
    @adam95710 3 года назад

    Thank you po doc, sobrang helpful sa case discussion ko, pero May clarification lang po ako, in case the patient has arrest of dilation at 6cm at two different IE 2hours apart, and the cephalic descent was at -3 throughout course of the labor, will the diagnosis be secondary arrest of dilation only, or secondary arrest of dilation and failure of descent (we mention both)? Thank you po doc 🙂

    • @inairabon9528
      @inairabon9528  3 года назад +2

      arrest of dilatation. descent happens at deceleration phase (8CMS)
