  • Monitoring of a woman in labor is done to ensure that the mother and baby are doing well, and also to identify any delay or arrest in progress of labor, so that timely corrective measures can be taken. Partogram is the tool that is used for this purpose by all levels of health care givers, be it nurses or midwives. It is particularly important for those doctors practising in the primary and community health centres, where early identification of arrest can help allow timely referral to a higher centre. Therefore, it is a very important for the undergraduates and the postgraduate aspirants to understand the basics of partogram.

    Hello mam. Partograph explained very nicely. I have one doubt. If a patient comes in labour with cervical dilatation > 4cm, say 6 cm, then where to mark x, on Alert line or on the verticle line in left side showing cervical dilation? Thank you in Advance.

    Mam can we use oxytocin in cpd??

    • @medicinedecoded.
      @medicinedecoded.  4 месяца назад

      With good contractions and clinical signs of CPD, giving oxytocin can be counterproductive, particularly in 2nd stage, it will further impact the fetal head, making a 2nd stage cesarean also particularly difficult. Also one may end with a difficult instrumental vaginal delivery. So be very very cautious.
