Because not everyone can make their work life their whole reason of existence. In india, doctors are taken for granted too much at work with people expecting them to be on their constant beck n call like its entitlement. Outside india, if you go and see the respect doctors get and the work hours they have… its nowhere close to how it is in india. Not to mention the violence and underappreciation for the expertise we have. Work life balance exists to ensure maximum output so doctors also enjoy what they do instead of getting burned out. They are professionals like any other, they CAN have other stuff and responsibilities in life as well. With army and police….they get benefits for their services by the govt for the work they do…what do doctors get? Less pay, more work and the title of “arrogant money makers” by patients. So please do not generalise everyone in one mindset. Its medical science and personal interests in fields can vary.
