i wonder who he was playing after this warm up? where are we at in the tournament, in other words? i bet we're pretty far along. he is a little bit more intent/serious here.
@@trents3515 I think for the top players round one can actually be a little tough on the nerves because they have to take it seriously still since if they loose the media will go mad yeet lol
Now i'm rewatching it the thousandth time, I still don't understand how they make the zoom look so weird. Everything is proportionally weird. The net look so high, and federer still look like he stands so close to the net, the audiences is so close to the court.
Ok, 450,000 views and 19 comments? And no offense, but some of them aren’t even really true or of much depth of thought. Here we go: 1. He does hit a couple volleys “on his back foot (at :14, :16),” but it’s no big deal. He performed the unit turn pivot and loaded up who’s weight in tr outside foot, and didn’t have time or space to come off it. It’s not a groundstroke. It’s not really an angular momentum stroke. It’s more of a linear momentum push or swipe. 2. He “tracks the ball with his eyes.” Yes, that’s how humans track things, with their vision. 3. These are unrealistic volleys. He’s not really practicing. He’s warming up. He is getting balls down the middle of the court, which pros rarely see in matches. Passing shots are usually hit to the sides of players, not at them. This is not great practice. He does go back to the service line sometimes though, simulating practicing a first volley. For better practice, more realistic practice, he should back up and start again every couple volleys. 4. He’s using more shoulder turn on the backhand volley, partially because that’s how Bh volleys are hit, and also because his grip favors the forehand slightly, an Australian grip, and he’s not changing much or at all for the backhand. His fh volley is flatter, and his bv has more underspin, because of his grip. 5. He’s the most talented volleyer in the history of tennis, seemingly equal to McEnroe. 6. His overhead is simple. It’s a pleasure to watch him on RUclips, TV or live. I’ve seen him twice from the front row.
wtf u do know about tennis to preach a huge paragraph of bullshit. u just compared awkward grip McEnroe to fedeerer?!? u must be austistic. ur paragraph is shit
WTF do I know about tennis? Ok here we go: 1. I’m certified USPTA Elite Tennis Pro for 35 years. 2. I’m a certified PTR tennis pro. 3. I’ve coached 60,000 hours. 4. he needed that choppy motion to add slice to the volley, so that it will stay low when it lands, instead of looping up and waiting for someone to smash it
the POP POP sounds so mesmerizing. unreal how easy it seems to be. best volley of all times. GOAT
His shots are just so beautiful man
Two keys: 1) excellent footwork; 2) tracking every ball with his eyes.
...he is like good mother to each ball...look at Thiem, he's tracking, but he's close eyes at the moment of touch
I can watch this non-stop.
He makes this look so easy it's infuriating, lol.
35 years practice sir 😊
thanks for the upload!
great work
he slices every. volley..
He has the reflexes of a jedi.
Great to see this -- thank you!
awesome....
What a clear video, thanks! It all looks so easy, until you realise everything is correct and effortless, all with a 340g racket, scary.
Ay guys, the person that uploaded this is someone who I know :D
So effortless and free. Unlike my forced volleys 😢
So-- are they both practicing equally, or is Federer doing the practicing and Goffin the helper in this exercise?
So effortless
It's just like my vollies!
The only difference is mine is either out or at the net.
He's practicing with David Goffin?
Brandon Ortega yes

It was actually the first round :)
@@hugolegendsport :
thanks for the info!
maybe i was wrong, then, about him being more intense?
in any case, i love the uploads of Federer.
@@trents3515 You're very welcome! Thanks for watching too :)

Who’re the best players you’ve played?
My favorite player is Rafael... But never, ever ever count out the Fed! I believe he's gonna play till he's 45.
wow im surprised that he has such an efficient backhand volley even with that really choppy motion
he needed that choppy motion to add slice to the volley, so that it will stay low when it lands, instead of looping up and waiting for someone to smash it
The motion should be choppy and not have too much of a backswing
That’s how it’s supposed to look are you serious?
the swing looks so big
Fed does wag his racquet a lot on his volleys but he can get away with it since he plays singles. In doubles he’d need to shorten it.
somebody watch this video, who never played tennis.
he think, OHH well tennis looks nice, its seems to be easy, I start to play tennis.
well...
Playing tennis is easy, playing tennis well is hard. Start halfcourt and just enjoy a gentle rally to get used to it.
개간지..
0:59, when he missed, shoted the ball back, but bounced first on the floor...well, after he retire, he should work for NASA
Is that Goffin hitting with him?
Is he cutting the volley?
actually he is. "cutting" the ball is a good way to visualize. hes not "punching" as clueless people say
It always makes me nervous when RF twirls his racquet because I'm thinking it might end up sideways when he's ready to hit 😮
2:50
after a yr people still dont get how hard that shot is. or even apreciate it. GOAT touch its called. only goats can do it
Roger is silky smooth.. he's the James Bond of tennis.. I wonder if he likes his martini shaken and not stirred.😏

진짜 ㅈㄴ잘하네;
Federer is better on the backhand valley than his forehand
his t-shirt design is meaningful. 王 in square.王means king in japanese kanji.
It’s a tennis court -_-
Isn't that Goffin?
John L yes
No, its John Isner lol
Us Open 2015...
He was playing the best tennis of his life, beating everyone easily until he faced the best ever.
“Warmup volley”
isn't that Goffin? now want the goffin become good now and can beat roger at ATP Final
Sam Sung Yes Sir, that’s him...lol
;)
Is so easy, even a cave man can do it..... oh wait..
His hitting partner looks like Alex de Minaur
Nah.. after watching again, his ears aren't big enough to be Alex
Not even a little bit
