I laugh at all the comments where people try to sound so fancy when describing it. "Oh, it's such an eclectic song with a refined rhythm that has such a deep meaning." No, they most likely got stoned and made music. C'mon, in Clint Eastwood they say they have "sunshine in a bag"...pretty sure that's describing weed, since weed makes most people happy. Not saying the music is bad it's very chill and helps me while I do work...but some people make it sound like they carefully planned all of it. Maybe they did, I wasn't in the studio...but it does sound like 2 very talented artists got high, messed around until they found a sound they liked.
I've always perceived this track as the ocean screeching in pain as it gets polluted, and the laughing being those who pollute it. Most likely not the actual intention, but it adds a lot to the story.
idk why but i perceived it as 2-D's insanity or something, since Murdoc kept 2-D in Plastic Beach against his will to do music this was probably marked as his slow fall to insanity (or i don't know, i don't know the lore of the album nor the lore of gorillaz)
